Rather laughable that not only will there be another forum discussion, but that M will be the one blogging.

Well it is appropriate that M should be the one taking the heat since I am sure the order was handed down to Jack from him. Poor jack has been turned into public enemy #1 just for relaying the info to the community.

Finally!

Thanks, Jack, for finally letting us know when we can expect some news and info!

I'm not holding my breath that i will like what I hear, but at least now i know when it will be so I can make an informed decision of what to do with my OS before my deadline of Thursday!

I like Jack, it's more M's distinct lack of comprehension on the issue that bothers me. I'd rather have a Linden who knows about the history of the product posting because both interviews I've read with M show an apparent lack of knowledge.

I don't know that thats exactly true, I know he caught some hell from some folks, but the majority are pointing fingers at LL the company, not any individual to vent their displeasure on. Jack just happens to be in the line of fire.

Finaly .... Thanks Jack ... Long time commin ... But you guys needed to get this right ... You above all others know that we are not idiots ....M Linden will find out tomorrow how residents feel about all of this ... If his blog is a mish mash of corprate buzz words and heavy handed demands like the original blog ... expect mass movment of funds and some very pissed off people .

I hope you guys have got things sorted out now and can come to us with solutions to the supposed problem rather than with your hand out looking for cash .

M reminds me of the typical top executive from any company usa. All they see is the big picture and the bottom line, The thing many top executives fail to grasp is that the big picture is made up of lots and lots of tiny pictures, Each tiny picture interacting with the next. Those are people you are dismissing as insignificant. Dismissing the players is realllllly bad... Its been the downfall of more then one game.

Anyone that runs, ran or attempted to start a club in second life knows that those tiny pictures or us.... The very people of SL that M so easily dismisses come with a small to huge following of other people and friends, When you loose one, you tend to loose their friends too and in the end you loose many.

Many, if not most of the small sim owners, Got them with, for, or because of, the friends they care about and people they like to hang out with. Small potatos in the big picture but unlike when you dismiss your lowest staff members as being insignificant to the big picture. Dismissing the very reason the company even exists in the first place is a rather dumb thing to do. Thats just my opinion and well we all have them...

(copied from Jack's uberthread)

Should be interesting to see what M says.. Some of the things he's said lately really have me scratching my head and wondering if he has any idea how residents think or even if he knows we're here.

/me hopes it's not all just management-speak.

incredible, yes? It really doesn't matter what he says now - for many the damage is too big.

The new announcement, according to the latest blog, is simply a clarification, or reiteration of what he's already said:

"working hard to revisit the original announcement"

"being able to share our thinking more fully with you"

"The post will be our response to all..."

"...and will include details about how we intend to proceed regarding Openspaces"

To me, just judging by the above snippets of what he said, it sounds like he isn't going to change anything at all, but just say everything he's already said...again. And give more ("BS";) reasons as to why the change is coming. Of course this is just the best of reading between the lines, but like I said before, it doesn't sound like they planned to change anything.

M Linden doesn't know what an openspace sim is other than it being a cash cow that he wanted to enlarge by double dealing customers who had bought into openspaces under false pretenses. Does M Linden not know that his company began to heavily market OS sims just a handful of months ago by doubling prim allotment, lowering the price, and selling them in unlimited quantity? The only thing I want to hear from his is an apology for such a transparent and unethical bait and switch money grab. Further, if he continues to use a bogus technical excuse to justify the absurd price hike, than he needs to announce that everybody who purchased OS sims will receive a refund and that he's pulling the plug on OS sims because his staff is not competent enough to fix the product other than to demand people pay more for less. You certainly don't ask customers to pay more for defective products while demanding they use less of it.

And for those who have other land products, you're next. The same type of underhanded maneuver will eventually be attempted on those who purchase(d) parcel in the double prim themed mainland sims in Bay City and Nautilus: "ohh, we can't afford to give you double prim plots at the same price as standard plots; that's not fair to everybody else, and we're going to jack up your tier by at least 50% or more." Once a corporation begins to employ these type of predatory practices, they will not stop until the offending executive management is replaced.

I'll agree with Jess on the assessment. It seems that they're just going to add more manure to the reasons for the hike in price. I mean, the buzz words used don't give much hope for any changes.

Oh that is quite right, the damage is already done. Even if the tier of the Open Sim was reduced, I still wouldn't keep mine. I can not trust LL any more on anything really, and I refuse to buy anything more from it.

I will keep what I have until it tries to screw me again, and then I will unload everything. LL is just way too removed from SL to make intelligent decisions about it. One must know the product first before making decisions concerning it.

SL is not a place where people are sold widgets and they play with their widgets. SL is about community and communities.

I agree that M doesn't seem to actually know and love SL like a resident. That is what is surely needed of every single Linden in order to make it a special place. I'd be interested to know if the decline of SL could be plotted on a chart in direct proportion to decline in hours Lindens spent inworld. I suspect the answer is yes.

I have a premium account and donate my tier allowance to the Luskwood estate. I also rent half an open space sim which I use for my store and to stage my live music shows. Well, it looks like the open space sim I rent will remain in place until the end of this year. After that? I really don't know. At this point I'm past caring and seriously considering porting all the content I have created out of SL (using Second Inventory or anything similar) and onto one of the competing grids. I can only take being jerked around so much. After which it's time to look elsewhere. :(

Just to add if this whole mess results in all the little people sinking void sims rather than pay the extra (folks are doing this already) that the loss in income could be quite shocking for LL. Around me there are in excess of 45 voids all belonging to one company who rent out. They have been empty for ages and the companies behind this are not panicking. No infact they are still offering them for sale, translate rent, they wont be hurt by this they just write it off and move on.

However, another source of revenue lost for LL as no one will be paying to rent these sims and the businesses won't be paying LL tier. Wake up for goodness sake LL this could be a roller coaster ride that cant be stopped.
