It is clearly satirical, but I don't see it as trolling at all. The topic is a legitimate one in SL these days, and I'm sure there are some who do agree with the OP's ides.There has been some good responses to him. mixed in with the "You are a troll" and other hysteria.
The word Troll is so highly overused. Anyone who says anything the controversial and disagreeable is called a troll.More ofren than not , it is a way of trying to silence someone with a disagreeable opinion, when no other response is at hand.

i wasn't calling someone a troll because of the issues or lack of ability to respond..i was using it because i doubt sincerity or real concern by the OP.If i felt they were serious and not baiting i would not have used the word Trolling..

With the adult restrictions coming into effect on the mainland my question is: will explicit adult chat be censored or punishable on the mainland? Representations of violence and photo realistic portrayal of nudity is already being removed so shouldn't Linden Labs also move to restrict morally reprehensible language and/or language which explicitly describes sexual activity from the mainland also? A movie can be rated "R" in the US preventing children under the age of 18 to view it without adult supervision because of inappropriate language & I also believe there are similar restrictions on music with with inappropriate lyrics. I believe LL should put in place a chat and IM filter restricting such language. Also: there should be concern that minors are being exposed to pornographic content through notecards and image uploads that are not rez'ed and yet are openly traded between avatars. Will LL move to enforce a ban on inter-avatar trading of pornographic images? Perhaps LL will adopt some type of photo filter which will restrict non-age verified accounts to upload pornographic or violent images? Further: I am also concerned that there is a plethora of persons over the age of 18 utilizing the Teen Grid who are in all likelihood some type of sexual predator. Will LL put an age verification system in place for Teen Grid members to ensure no one over the age of 18 logged in there? Please Linden Labs! Respond to these concerns or else the Mainland risks becoming a cesspool of filth like the Internet with adult content everywhere available to underage children. I believe with my suggestions in place we can make the Mainland the most morally correct place in the world! To paraphrase Clarke, any sufficiently well-written satire is indistinguishable from a troll. Satire and sarcasm are difficult to do on the net, something people realized in the days of Usenet. I don't mean this as a criticism, but merely pointing out that anyone attempting satire of this sort shouldn't be surprised at these results. |
