Knowing where this came from and who has tryed to take credit for it, It is obviously faked, We know the lindens talked about this before, did they act on it, No and will they probley not. They would be blocking out alot of important investors (new people who buy things) and companies who have people with npiof, so lets all say this together, No blog=fake

From: Saucey Barbecue I have direct, personal knowledge of a similar login denial. Unfortunately since the error read as "due to high load logins temporarly existed", I can't really claim that I was denied due ta bein' a free account. I DO have PIOF, so it's prolly not that. My premium unleaded account with double cheese and bacon was blocked during the temporary existence thing too, so that wasn't directed at basics.

From: Vittorio Beerbaum I tought the OP opened a thread to ask for this: "ive never seen this pop up, have you? is it real or fake" ...and i've replied to it, saying: "no, it's not fake". And i'm not talking about any scandal mag (initially i didn't even read it was from a magazine), nor any previous blog entry. If i tell you, it's real, because i've seen it, i think it would be enough... we aren't in a court. If you want an official reply, and if you think i lie, then there's no other way to wait for a blog entry, so we can discuss it further. I don't need em eventually, i perfectly understand your position. I may lie because im crazy (not that i'm crazy... but there are crazy ppl around, so i may be one of them). Cheers. ARE you going ta say you've seen it with your own eyes? As a popup in the login screen, or are you jus' gonna continue to imply that ya MIGHT have done so? "IF I tell you" "I MAY have seen it" Have you or NOT?

Everyone is forgetting that the plan is not to restrict logins to payed accounts.
The plan is to restrict logins to accounts with payment info used. Theres a HUGE difference.

As far as whether the screenshot the OP posted is legit, or if the SLH Screenshot is 'legit'.... Warning/alert messages come from the *viewer*, not the *server*. All warning & alert messages can be found in this (Windows) directory. YMMV on Mac/Linux: C:\Program Files\Second Life\skins\xui\(language) I'm using the standard version of the viewer. I searched all the XML files... and while I saw the usual messages regarding being unable to connect, there are no messages that appear within my version of the client that look anything like this. That doesn't mean its a 'lie' however, either. Keep in mind that the viewer is open source. If you downloaded a 3rd-Party viewer, such as Nicholaz - its very possible the 3rd party customized these messages themselves. By editing the XML files, anyone can make all the Second Life messages say whatever strikes their fancy Linden has discussed on the blog implementing a policy like this - but my spidey sense tells me that this sort of message text is not authored by Linden Lab, but rather one of the many open sourcers authoring 3rd party clients.

This is 99% true. The login server returns XML data that tells the viewer what sim to connect to, the motd, your sessions UUID etc etc. One of the optional xml values is a message to be displayed in a dialog box, It is rarely used, but it is there. You can check out the login protocal on the wiki.

It's not enough simply because of the way it's worded which just screams fake, coupled with how ridicously easy it is to fake it. Noone would have any problem entertaining the idea that LL would restrict logins to payment info used and up, they said as much. Restricting to premiums only is a bit more controversial on the other hand.

Do also note that security on popup windows is pretty lax actually, and they can be produced via packet injection and so on from other clients - I am not an expert here though, I have just been surprised at quite what is possible.

The plan is to restrict logins to accounts with payment info used. Theres a HUGE difference. This is not what appened, the login were restricted for "basic" members, leaving logging in the "premium" ones. I don't know what's the "plan", i'm talking about what happened 2 days ago.

I don't know why they dicided that.. i guess to justify the (paying) membership, but that's only my guessing, the debate is open.

From: Phil Deakins And discussing something with someone does not make someone a troll - as Saucey stated that Darkness is. Perhaps she was trying to make a point about unnecessary use of the term 'troll'? Or not. Either way, she wasn't the first to mention the term in that little disagreement. From: someone You and Saucey should would have been good together. You don't know either of us, which makes this a nonsensical statement. Unless, of course, you're implying that a willingness to speak our minds when we disagree with someone is a negative quality. Oh, the horror.
