Quite a few people posted the same type of thing. I think they shut it down to non paying members for a short while.

When LL Throttles logins they should use this notice instead

If you want to take the first one at face-value, you need to take mine at face-value too.

Obviously mine is fake, so the first one could easily be fake as well considering there is nothing to back it up (and someone with 1 post to their name hardly counts either).

Saucey and I lived on the same island for several months and she's never struck me as the type to make these sort of things up. Also, sharing a personal experience or opinion does not make someone a troll, as you seem to be implying.

And discussing something with someone does not make someone a troll - as Saucey stated that Darkness is. You and Saucey should would have been good together.

eheh.. i mean (obviously) the first screenshot in the thread... anyway it's not the screenshots that counts, it's the fact: they have "experimented" it for a short amount of time, and the accesses basis was: Premium *not* Basic. I have no idea if they will implement it as a "standard", maybe they wanted just to see the reaction (like this thread), or they wanted to check if the system may works.
I don't think it will be a big trouble anyway, because when these kind of problems are happening, even if you login you can't do anything apart chatting... so stay in or out doesn't make a so big difference, and at least they may justify what the premium members are paying for (because the possibility to buy in mainland and the live chat doesn't seems (to be) a big incentive to switch to premium).

TWO people posted about this on the RC blog entry. From the wording of thier comments, it sounds like they are parroting the SLH article, not any direct knowledge of such a log-in denial.

Yes, LL has talked about the possibility of limiting log-ins at times, using payment info as a criteria. There has been no CREDIBLE evidence that shows they have ever implemented this policy.

So far, when log-ins have been closed, they have been closed to everyone but Lindens. Or the odd case where certain residents information was on an affected server.

I have direct, personal knowledge of a similar login denial. Unfortunately since the error read as "due to high load logins temporarly existed", I can't really claim that I was denied due ta bein' a free account. I DO have PIOF, so it's prolly not that.

When the login is declined due to your account type (Basic/Premium) you'lll not receive a "generic text" box, you'll read exactly that the login has been denied because you are a not paying user (the screenshot at the start of this thread is genuine, and it's the one used yesterday).

Hopefully, someone with the ear of a Linden can find out what really is the deal here. So far it's nothing but speculation for the most part, at least until some more people can corroborate this. For now Maximillian's post #84 is the one I'm going to go with.

I may have seen it with my eyes and i may have asked to the proper persons about it? It's not important how i know it, it's more important that im telling you that the screenshot is genuine. There would be obvious reasons why i can't respond to your question, but again, does it make any difference? Unless the problem is if i lie (and for what reason...).
It would be better to discuss on how it may affect our future, than continue to discuss about if it's fake or not, since i've told you that is not.

Of course it makes a difference. You are making a claim that is pretty much unsubstantiated except by the blatherings in a Scandal Mag. And even though LL isn't the most consistent in policy, your claims go against everything they have said on the matter. Then when asked to substantiate your claim, you you hide behind some alleged Inside Knowledge yet won't elaborate any further upon. As far as I'm concerned, until proven otherwise, you sir, are full of shit. If I am wrong I will gladly make the required apology.

without a blog stating it was going into affect i doubt it is real..it would have been in either download notes or blog for something like this since it would be something lindens would want their pay info customers to know for goody points..

I tought the OP opened a thread to ask for this:

...and i've replied to it, saying: "no, it's not fake". And i'm not talking about any scandal mag (initially i didn't even read it was from a magazine), nor any previous blog entry. If i tell you, it's real, because i've seen it, i think it would be enough... we aren't in a court.
If you want an official reply, and if you think i lie, then there's no other way to wait for a blog entry, so we can discuss it further.

Fair enough Vittorio. I came on a little strong there. I don't deny you saw what you saw, I just don't believe it is from where you believe it to be from. And for the most part, I am a "I need to see it to believe it " person, or at least see overehelming evidence.
