So people can't complain about being scammed?

I dont think this is a matter of having a mod or not, but a anger over what posts are being deleted.

Hiding those threads clearly points to a desire to encourage bad business in SL by giving them a clear path free of any forum obstructions to thier thievery

Advice was given, pointers were had.. Sadly there is nothing else you can do if its nothing to do with you...

I don't lead anyone. And yes, I still believe we need a mod. But not one that deletes threads or locks them for weak reasons.

if AR's from one person get threads closed and deleted, then AR's from all of us should get them reopened and reinstated.

That would be helpful but let think about this. We are providing a public service as if the scammers are having to stay here are continuously check on what is being said
then they may have less of a chance to scam others

Over on the "Restrict land sales/rental on private islands...the only way?" thread, I suggested that an embedded reputation system (ratings only by those who had paid money to the 'ratee') would be the way to go.
I ended with: "How do SL Exchange, Ebay, etc. deal with abuses of the ratings?"

So in this thread it would have to be: "How would LL deal with abuses of the SL ratings system?"

I don't get it, it baffles the mind the way of thinking of a few here. First, a few of you guys don't ever cease your incessant whining for a moderator. You even go out of your ways to seek Linden to beg for one. Then, and get this, when one comes you bitch, whine and complain because of locked threads. Does this make any sense at all? I mean, really?

Don't want a mod to lock threads for "weak reasons?" And other then the mod themselves you or who determines which is a weak thread? Any thread you take interest in and happens to get locked is then considered to be a "weak" reason?

Even an suspended account a slap on the hand but LL acts as if they can't touch the scammers. One would think that after months of scams they would get tired of hearing about the person . No the outraged residents are suspended after someone mysteriously reports that one of the group is an underaged person l. (later reinstated) That is not to action of an honest person.... a desperate one maybe

From May, on ebay, sellers cannot leave buyers negative feedback. This has caused quite a ruckus and completely, totally and utterly undermines any suggestion that ebay know their arse from their elbow. Give me LL over ebay any day of the week.

If a thread is deleted, do the thread numbers get changed to eliminate the gap?

It's really not contradictory at all. It makes perfect sense if one believes, as I do, that threads would not be deleted or closed without comment if there were active resident moderation according to the guidelines. It simply did not happen when there was an active ResMod. The same threads and others might have been locked, or sent off for "Linden Review" but at least there'd be an explanation.

I realize you don't agree. And I realize that any new moderator or moderation policy is going to be difficult at first. (And maybe this is that new policy at work--although I doubt it.) But please don't assume that those of us who sought moderators wanted less open Forums. Quite the opposite. And I think we're seeing why, exactly now.

Please dont interject shades of grey into the black and white world enjoyed by some of the forums posting population.
