From: Lindal Kidd 1 user disagreed.
Bella, the sex is virtual, but the emotions are real. It's possible to be just as happy, or just as heartbroken, over an SL romance as over a RL one. We may look like cartoons in a cartoon world, but there is a real person, and a real heart, behind each one of us.
Words and actions can bring joy or sorrow to those real people, no matter what medium they are transmitted through. By suggesting that people who feel emotional about virtual sex have emotional problems, Bella is not saying those emotions are not real or valid. A person in control of their emotions, however, will be unaffected by pretty much anything that goes on in a virtual world. There may well be a real person and a real heart behind the avatars, but that's where it stays - behind the avatar, not in front of it. It's one thing to fall for someone who you meet in SL and then meet in real life (as many do), it's quite another to do so without having met.

I beg to differ. You may very well be in control of your emotions and still be affected by the interaction between yourself and others in SL. Yes there is a real person "behind" the avatar, but as has been debated a lot on the forums, it varies greatly how much that person chooses to let their avatar represent their true selves *including* their true emotions.

From: Bella Posaner ...Don’t get the one night stands though lol Lots of people don't. For them, sex and love are inseparably intertwined. At the other end of the spectrum, there are people who cannot love, or can't love anyone other than themselves. For them, sexual pleasure and release is all there is. They tend to favor one night stands, because they don't want or understand a partner who starts getting all romantic and clingy. There are people in the middle. For them, sex is good and fun and pleasurable all by itself...but is much better when it's accompanied by love. These people may "sleep around" for quite a while...but when they find the right person, settle down into an exclusive relationship. Or not...I know a few people who are so secure with each other that they let/encourage their partners to go out and find some variety, and maybe even bring it home for the evening. These are the swingers. Each of them thinks their lifestyle and choice is the best. It is...for them. The fun starts when we all start debating the issue and trying to prove to the others that they're wrong. Oh...and just to stay a little on topic: Sex sells to all of the above. You just have to package it differently.
