If I have my wits about me, and I remember, I will ask them if this is their home. If they say "no" I will ask who owns it. If they tell me they don't know, I will just tp out "no sexies for them". Well that was a long time ago. Now if I go, I just have a nice look around and keep all of my clothes on. Drives them a little nuts.

Hahaha yes, there is that I figure just do it during the split moment he needs to "equip" things Then again, once you've been Linden-spanked for public nudity, you tend to be a little more careful... I'm pretty sure that's just me tho ![]() Sweet, don't let it bother you like that.. live & learn. I'm sure there's some doozie stories floating around with people on this forum. "I remember this one time... in band camp..." ![]() I still want to hear Carli's story about the guy who whipped out the bazooka and blasted her half way through the act. _____________________

I don't know why anyone would check the land owner, since there are about a bazillion rentals in SL. But checking who the owner is of the sex bed isn't a bad idea, if you're obviously in someone's house.
As for sending the notecard, apologizing further, etc., I would forget about it. I'm sure the landowner already did. If you need need a place for this, use the pirate ship in Devolin Mal. |

Thanks for the replies. In defence of my date, I don't think he left, I just think he was banned first. Except he went offline immediately after, so maybe. *frowns*.... I think the cowardly git did a bunk and left you holding the kitty. Here, have a nice warm cookie to console yourself with. _____________________

There is no way to know if people mind you going on their land or not. If it had been my home I would have either ignored you and let you get on with what you were doing, or would have politely asked you to stop if you were in my way. In general so long as they don't actively do something to annoy me I don't care who is on my land. If people don't want you on their land or using their balls, they can put up banlines or get a security orb. So far as I am concerned you did nothing wrong, but nor did the landowner, although he could have been more polite about it he has every right to protect his privacy in whatever way he chooses. There is no privacy in SL. I feel free to go anywhere I can, if there are no banlines or orbs, I assume I am welcome. Personally I can't stand banlines or orbs, and would never use either, but others feel differently about their "privacy". Then you "assume" wrong. Because you don't mind doesn't mean others don't. Keep thinking that way that you're free to go anywhere you wish. With thinking like that I'm sure you've been given many free rides courtesy of the securities on the lands you've intruded upon. Any intruders on my places get themselves kicked to hell. The op explained the situation and although it wasn't her fault and it's completely understandable what happened to her she was still on someones land. Therefore, the owner had every right to be upset and not accept her apologies. I'm just saying. Also, there's no need to send anymore apologies. It's over with. It was done once and that's enough as most times people don't care about apologies. Just check the places you're taken to if you've never been there before to see names of items there which should give you a clue. |

Did your date contact you in any way once you guys were made of aware of the landowner? This was his responsibility to warn you first even if he was banned before you. Oh, he went off-line afterwards? There you go, nothing else needs to be said. A cheapskate and a coward, both at the same time. |

There really is no way to know, thanks to alts and the numerous rentals that provide furniture. But if you find out the hard way, make sure the cad's calling card goes in the circular file.

I don't mind people walking through my land - if they hang around and I'm there I'll pop out and chat to them to find out what they want. They're usually friendly enough.
My doors are locked, however. Obviously, as this is SL, people *can* get in, but it's pretty difficult for them to accidentally trespass - if they find a locked door, they *know* they shouldn't be going through it. If I found strangers having sex in my bed, I would ban them right away, but I would be gracious if I got an apology (I still wouldn't let them shag in my bed, though). When I want privacy, I'll turn my security orb on - it's polite, explains it's private property, asks people to pass on through or turn back, and gives them 30s before kicking them. So yes, if this French guy had to cam in and sit on a poseball to gain access, knowing it was private, and then TPed you there, it's HIM that's in the wrong - not you, and not the landowner. _____________________

But then people wouldn't be able to look at the apartment. ![]() Well it's a relatively long timer. 45 seconds, on 15 second scan interval. I have considered changing that method, however, and merely setting the bed permissions to owner only. Of course, they then have to wait for me to come inworld. _____________________

Ah, Rioko, that's why I put security on eject all for fully furnished places. ![]() Do security orbs have to notify? Could you set the orb for a 5-10 minute delay...you know, just enough time for the excited couple to really get into things (hopefully adorned with any and all paraphenalia they find fit to enhance their encounter)? I would laugh so hard at that...see them bouncing out in a random direction in all their glory, or worse in their highly excited glory... Oh please tell me this is possible...I just might finally invest in a security orb, and set it under a bed full of poses...I absolutely detest the type of scum who "take women back" to places that are not theirs. _____________________

Doesn't do any good to check land or items. If you are renting furnished, they will not have your name associated with them.
Most SLP beds allow control by group, owner or anyone. If the land owner bought the bed and set it out, it will show their name. Really, one should not have to jump through hoops to verify all this crap just to engage in an intimate moment. On the other hand, it might be a good idea to get to know someone a little better before taking it so far (not being judgemental). _____________________

Women will usually ask you if the place you've taken them to is yours. Although, one can lie but it's always good to ask first.
Meant to check first, but oh well. |

those women..rather than ask , need to learn to click on objects to see who owns this or that,..usually i find that its some stranger..or the guys partner or wife. When confronted himming and hawwing ensue...while i place my shoes back on

Congratulations, that's what he meant by "orbs". That's what he meant by orbs? So what's your point? You're coming in from left out with this. Person said as long as they have no security he felt welcomed to go in other peoples property. So what does your comment have to do with anything? What's your point? Duh! Strange indeed. |

Whats with all the Frenchman this, French guy that? Sheesh! Okay the guy spoke french and he was an ass, but I'm thinking if he was an American, no one would be pointing that out... The only two men here were the owner and the date. Not too difficult to differentiate.
To the OP, you handled the situation very well, and as others have said, a notecard isn't warranted. Rude, cowardly people exist everywhere - just be happy you found out about Mr. Asshat sooner than later. _____________________

I would be gracious if I got an apology (I still wouldn't let them shag in my bed, though). . Although you have to wonder why someone who can randomly give away that amount would feel a need to have sex in a random person's house (the first - and most common - excuse was: "your house looks so nice, I couldn't resist taking a closer look"... uh huh, right ). |

lol. No, they don't have to notify. And I highly recommend hippoSECURE from HippoTech. Be careful with that though. Having an overzealous security script is an ARable offense. Whether it's a fly-by/drive-by/sail-by/walk-by or someone purposefully going inside your structure. Here's a link to a post I made that references a post by Jeska Linden.
