Strife would "stealth lock" sometimes precisely so as to not give the thread any more publicity. I think we have our answer.

QFT. That thread was done several days earlier. I have the honor of being the next to last poster in it.

It was her thread in which she whined, cried, threatened and insulted nearly every poster. If you want some real fun, head to the Bear infohub. But have voice turned on. she only does her griefing in voice so there will be no written log.

That explains a lot. hehheh ...

... but I'll pass on the infohub. As a political fundraiser, I get enough grief via voice during working hours.

You certainly do not have to prove this - but I personally have never seem Strife lock a thread without indicatinhe lcked it and making some attempt to explain why.

I, for one, have always seen the resident volunteer mods cite the reason why they locked a thread (by quotng TOS). I do not feel that the new trend is that Linden staff do not have to communicate concerning locked threads. If this is the new status quo its going to be a long summer.

Is there a rule in the forum guidelines that says we are not supposed to talk about locked threads?

If so, where is that rule because if it was just somebody saying "Don't talk about locked threads" that is hardly a rule. Rules must be stated in the forum guidelines or a TOS to have teeth.

This does appear in the guidelines for the mods though:

From: someone
Any editing or locking of threads will be accompanied by an explanation, to make our moderation decisions as transparent to Residents as possible.

From: someone
Locking threads with explanation in extreme cases (e.g. although posts have been edited and the parties asked to cease, the attacks don’t stop. There’s no obvious constructive discussion going on).

And under "Reposting"

From: someone
If a moderator removes your post, do not repost it elsewhere. Do not repost threads that have been locked or deleted and do not repost content that has been edited or deleted by a moderator. Furthermore, please do not post a "why did my post get removed" post. Send any further discussion regarding post removals to abuse@lindenlab.com.

So even though my personal opinion is that the thread was due for a lock, I see nothing in the rules that says I can't tell Amara that the thread in question was the "Mainland is full, who is to blame" one and was at this link: /327/98/257807/1.html

If there is a stated rule in the guidelines I missed that says I am wrong to do that, my apologies and please show it to me.

The difference is that Strife would normally go back and comment as to why it was locked, so it would avoid the bump. That didn't happen here, but the rationale is pretty plain to me why it was locked.

There have been stealth locks before. There has even been discussion about them. Where was the OP then?

Have I coined "Sthlock" ?

lol /agreed.

I re-read the guidelines and still don't see anything that says you can't reference it. I would never cut and paste the OP from one or something like that, but a link or a mention in a situation like this seems perfectly in the guidelines.

Who said they couldn't be talked about? And did they read the guidelines before they did or was it just a "because I said so" kinda thing? :)

These forums are moderated? I thought they had been unmoderated since Strife stopped moderating.

Frankly, these forums could use some even-handed moderation. Preferrably, in a clear, transparent way as Strife did, rather than a "stealthy," arbitrary way.

Millie still does some resmodding. I thought they did away with that program but she still seems to be around.

Katt does mod some posts (and always notes why) and she posted in a couple threads about the content "theft" that she was going to find out what happened and report back.. and she did.

I did see Cybin hanging around last weekend some. He had "resmod?" as his title so I am not sure if he is still doing it or not.

The forum is lightly moderated at this point.

I see no problems. :)

The discussion is still about what the OP asked. The bear infohub joke was my hope to give Lias a smile. :D

And I would really like the answer to my questions so I am hoping Katt sees this and can respond with an official response. I would not want to reference something in the future that can get me in trouble.

I found this conversation about locked threads and alternates to the knee-jerk reaction of the resmods /274/93/225896/1.html. Butthis was back when resmods actually spoke to us.

Even a forum Cartel thread was locked but the resmod was smart enough to post a reason why he locked it - or suffer through cartel members feeling persecuted and wondering why. /327/3a/224375/6.html#post1769034.

Thanks Lias. :)

So still no official word that you cannot reference locked threads.

All we know for sure is that no threads should be locked without explanation from the locker as is listed in the guidelines.

I think everything so far in this thread is well within the forum guidelines then. :)
