This week there was a silent lock placed on a thread that no one had responded to since June 4th. No Mod explanation or even a post indicating who locked it.

Is this the new Linden-Mod way of closing threads? At least the resident volunteers felt compelled to make up some reason for stopping a thread and share that with us. Are we witnessing the beginning of the end of the SL Forums?

Well we are not allowed to talk about locked threads. But if a thread that sat silent since June 4th is locked (over ten days since active) - is that to prevent the subject from being discussed or did anyone in the thread violate forum TOS? We shall never know.

Mind boggles. We aren't allowed to talk about locked threads, but you started this thread to talk about how we aren't allowed to talk about what we're talking about in this thread...

If it hasn't been posted in since early June, who cares? She probably didn't want it to be necroposted, which seems like an entirely fair decision to make. I haven't checked, but I have a pretty good guess as to which thread it was, and if I'm right, I agree with the decision to lock it. It was a mess.

I gotta go with Trout on this one. If nobody's posted to it in weeks, it stands to reason that nobody had anything else to add anyway.

It should have been locked long before the last post.

I looked and it is what you probably think it is, and it should have been locked long before it was.

Who is this 'she' you refer to? We shall never know. No one cares that a thread that no one was responding to is no longer accessible. Not the point.

The point is that it was locked with no commentatry from the locker. Is this the new way threads will be locked in these forums? In the long run I do not think this is a policy we all will be embracing.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Katt or Millie are the only ones that have locked threads recently.

It is VERY obvious to anyone that read it as to why it was locked. An explanation would be pointless.

No one cares that a thread was locked without commentary after not having been posted in for weeks either, looks like. My mind wonders why you revisited it.

There was a link in there I wanted to go to. Ok, so some folks do not care that there is a new unwritten policy that threads will be locked with no explanation. Well then I welcome our new overlords along with you. Let the ambiguous thought-policing continue.

Until it happens to a thread your concerned about.

Well, yeah, then you can depend on outcry. But I don't think you'll find much sympathy for a dead horse.

edit: I thought you wanted a link. Why not just ask folks if they have a link to such-and-so?

You can still view locked threads and get to the links that are in them, so what is the problem here? You just cannot post in it any more.

It could have been Inadvertent Linden acting up again. He had a wild weekend.

Not looking for sympathy, Ghost-troll. Just making all aware. Let them get away with it without mentioning it once and that is a green light to do as they please. Now it is documented. Go back to your blissfull place and forget it was mentioned to you.

I will reiterate:
From: Lias Leandros
The point is that it was locked with no commentatry from the locker.
And it had been over ten days since anyone posted anything in that thread. Are they going through dead threads they do not want to see and locking them? How far back will they go to purge and purify the SL forums?

Oooh, name-calling. That'll sure get me to leave. How about I just keep posting to you about it, since my membership hasn't been, and won't be, revoked by you ... I'll ask you what was so darn important about that locked thread that your dissapointment in not re-hashing it stirred you to bring the fact that they locked it to light? Everyone else seems to think locking that thing was a good idea.

I assumed it was Millie or Katt because they have been the most active recently. I have no idea who it actually was, and even if it was Millie or Katt, I have no way of confirming that they are actually "shes". If the locker was a "he", then my apologies, although I doubt he was terribly offended.

Maybe if it had been an active thread, there would have been commentary. There have been a couple locked that were actually active when they were locked and the moderators gave reasons why. I don't remember any off the top of my head, but I know there have been a few.

Strife would "stealth lock" sometimes precisely so as to not give the thread any more publicity. I think we have our answer.

There have been stealth locks before. There has even been discussion about them. Where was the OP then?

It was her thread in which she whined, cried, threatened and insulted nearly every poster.
If you want some real fun, head to the Bear infohub. But have voice turned on. she only does her griefing in voice so there will be no written log.

I think that when they comment it also bumps the thread, so it makes sense to stealth lock something that hasn't seen the front page in a while. If it needs to be locked, why bump it?
