OK so what is a Neko

Dogs have masters - Cats have slaves. They don't come when they are called, they take a message and get back to you later.

Personally I prefer Cats. They have that mysterious quality and you know that even though they could be completely independant, they still want attention and still love you no matter what.

My cat turns the TV to the news when cartoons are on.
My dog chases her tail and eats twigs.

Funny how there are many more cat-looking (Neko) people than avs with floppy ears. Does that mean people would prefer being an independent cat to a 'I will do anything to please you' dog? Would they be called 'Inu's?

I love both for different reasons and could never choose one animal over another... Anything with fur and paws is so darn cute!

So have I darling, so have I... But REALLY...can we stereotype or make an attempt at censorship where all Neko's are concerned? I really feel some people feel threatened (or jealous) of someone they don’t understand. The way I see it Nekos are having all the fun! (Isn’t that what SL is about?) Nekos are comfortable with whom they are, they are comfortable with their sexuality; not so with all the socially retarded prudes and perverts I have met in SL. I have only met ONE Neko who was toxic...Just one. Unfortunately, have seen first hand the unwarranted griefing and prejudiced committed against Nekos. You know the way I see it some people have NO imagination, they are so anal that they want SL to resemble RL to the tee. Well if that's the case they might as well STAY in RL and live and let live...and leave those alone who want to make SL a fantasy world. After all, we can ALL be who we want to be in SL, as long as we don’t hurt someone in the process. The real TOXIC people are those who try to regulate, limit, and stifle the creativity, freedom, and imagination of other people.

Have you ever been to an 'adult' costume party? LL is trying to protect themselves and distance themselve from any potential lawsuits as to where child pornography laws are concerned in the USA (LL is in the USA) however beasiality is not nessisarily against the law on a federal level, that is left the each state to regulate at the state level. World wide we see more and more countries making a stand against child pornographyand child molestation; handing out severe penalties now in many places. Honestly, I have not heard of many instances In the USA where someone is prosecuted for loving sheep. OK...so in SL the PERSON (not animal) behind the avi is ususlly a consenting adult and not a child, it is not the actual CHILD avi that is illigal, it is the PERCEPTION of the act with a child avi that is causing all the legal flap (world wide). I have not seen any courts go after LL when it comes to Furry or Niko sex. I have only seen the comments raised by individuals who have a difficult time reconciling their sensibilities in thier minds when it comes to the 'adult' activities of others. again, this may stem from the social mores and culture that they are acustomed too. A Neco certainly has human traits, (anthropomophic) so we cannot really call it beastiality can we?

You like to dress up as an animal or whatever else floats your boat it's fine but there's a time and place for this. A formal event is not the time to go with ears or a tail sticking out your back.

I don't consider any of that to be even remotely like bestiality. The avs are more akin to humans dressing up in furry costumes in RL

A furry av is not meant to be a human av in a costume but a furry creature.

There are many manga and anime where neko are not sexualized. Moonphase, being one, although there is romance, but it's not as a result of Hazuki's nekomimi. And then there's the infamous Loveless, which is essentially an entire cast of neko boys and girls (although, ironically, they lose their ears once they have sex).*purrrs*
