Most definitely touch.
It'll get used for sex first. But there have been so many times I've wanted to hold someone, or be held. To touch someone else in SL would be a great gift.

Either a line of computer seat sanitizer products OR a self cleaning computer seat with a spin dry cycle. EDIT: Doing all the work for you! touch would be the only one that would make sense to me..and not that silly vibration touch/feel either..........well let me give this more thought here..i may be getting waaaaaay ahead of myself.. no keep that vibration one and improve it while adding other feelies !  seriously touch is probably the next one anyways..feely probes for everyone..or feely patches or even better feely latex body covers so thin it feels like you!!! the first thing i would do is go to a sand box wait for mario to show up then find particle source fly up smile to the source name..rez a bat and *POW!!!* right in the Jibblies. AR me jibbly man cause it was worth it!!  I think you're mixing haptic feedback with 3D manipúlators... (not every 3d manipulator got haptic feedback, and not all haptic feedback capable devices work with 3d manipulation) but talking about that, I'm surprised there isn't any popular patch for the client to use the Wiimote or the P5 Glove with SL (if I knew how to program and had the money etc, I would probably have done somthing like that already) |

Considering this thread, I actually did some searches on touch and second life, and realized that there is actually one very good reason to add touch to SL, apart from 'the obvious'.
It enabled the blind and visually impaired to experience virtual worlds too. There has been done research on creating a 'touch' interface (haptic feedback) for SL, especially for this purpose. A PDF on one of these experiments/researches can be found here: http://sirslab.dii.unisi.it/papers/haptic/DeMuPr-CS09.pdf I was only able to do a quick scan of the paper, but it seems that their effort to adapt the client to integrate haptic feedback ran into a lot of issues, and LL didn't seem very supportive.  _____________________

I think I recall the messages they're talking about. The open source community is just as overwhelmed as they are when dealing with the SL client, and questions they don't know the answer to will naturally tend to get ignored... it's hard enough to keep your head above water as it is.

Here's a question for those of you out there who should be working in offices, schools, labs, stores, corridors of power, universities, flying planes and green rooms, etc etc. If you were allowed to have ONE more sensory function in sl, which one would you choose? and why would you pick that sense? We have sight already as an initial (and, probably, essential) ability. So pick from teh four remaining: SMELL, TASTE, TOUCH, HEARING. I would like to vote for Smell-O-Vision. _____________________
