anyway.. people tend to act as a hurd of sheep..
blindly following the so called leaders, because they are lazy.

So, are people who think furr are non canine, just because one peep told them. or some lazy journalist tells them in a story.

Furries, (if you like me have read numerous arcticles, historical articles and dictorionaries and encyclopedia's)
you find that the furr is in roleplay perspective, and that's what we are talking about, is related/originated to/from the canine spiecies.

and the Neko from the feline spieces.

If SL cultures tend to bend this definition, that doesn't make it the bended definition as THE definition. no it's a hybrid new definition, through lack of something created. (lazyness, hurd culture, or limitations/acceptance of the technology.)

There's this interesting thing called evolution...you know, where something starts out as one thing and gradually becomes another?

Without it, we'd all still be swinging through the trees, with nary a computer in sight.

Hmn, I wonder:

1) Does anyone have an amoeba avatar?
2) If so, do they have an animation for....er...um....

/me stretches out a pseudopod and plants a sign, then oozes under a rock.
The sign says:

"Gone Fission"

I once saw an avie that was a jello with fruit inside of it. One of the most unusual things I ever saw in sl. I was like man they really must like jello.

It isn't just sl culture, it's the greater furry culture that has set the definiton

You whine about people following like sheep... when they don't follow your lead... or the lead of the ones your read. Instead they follow with what they see and interact with.

Reminds me of someone saying X animals behave like this based on the research of a man that simply looked at their bones and complaining when field researchers tell them different after watching the animals

no no no.. read my post more carefully, and think outside the box for a while. then if lucky you see what i'm trying to tell.
I'm not saying everyone should think the same, not at all..
what i am saying is, that people are ONE side visioned mostly.
And take only that side for granted. Not researching, thinking or exploring the other side, and combine them as the whole truth.

shortsighted, and proving the whole thing i'm saying.
(secretly you have just agreed with me, without knowing)
:-)
thanks hehe

Wait, who's shortsighted? The person who insists something must be what it always has been, even though it's obviously already changed, or the one who admits and embraces said changes?

Actually, since the SL environment also espouses its own culture in many ways, as I explained earlier, the definition isn't 'bent', it's redefined. You'll find there are very different definitions for vampire, twink, robot, slave and angel, not just neko and furry. These definitions really only have meaning in SL - but given the diversity and largess of the environment, that's foundation enough to call the redefinition valid.

You need to free your mind. SL does not revolve around the definitions found elsewhere. Nor will you find much that has ever been influenced by someone in the media - the majority of residents are from outside America, and most residents who have been here any appreciative length of time take their cues from the environment itself, not from some talking head on television.

well, i like to debate, discuss, indepth... and i'm defending one side of the spectrum, other theirs..
that's healthy, makes people think, and react. :)

and, for both sides there are good points.. and weak points.. luckely i might add.

for a discussion one needs to charge something, mostly very edgy introduced like a weapon salvo, so other are instinctively are driven to react, think, and then you see different visions, that can during the discussion change vision, or stand more to their first vision.

so therefor if started with edgy remarks and thoughts, luring people to think and respond.. (and defend even)
i wanted to trigger direct repsonses, by going the other way then many do.. see how far we would come, what the oppinions where/are, and how they are going to be presented.

it was also a test kind of thingy.. because furries and neko's are like a religion to many.. and they are defending it deeply (as it's their lives are in danger). And thus i wanted to see, if some could let it go a bit, and think the other side too... (well, many didn't, as expected... some did however)

so, all in all, mission succeeded

Speaking of sheep, if anyone knows where to get a lamb avatar would you let me know? NOT a sheep. A lamb.

Furries, (if you like me have read numerous arcticles, historical articles and dictorionaries and encyclopedia's)
you find that the furr is in roleplay perspective, and that's what we are talking about, is related/originated to/from the canine spiecies.

and the Neko from the feline spieces.
Most definitions of Neko and Furry that I have seen would disagree with you. Neko is very speciific. A Human girl with cat ears and a cat's tail. Furry is an anthrpomorphic animal, of any species, tending to look more animal than Human. I have never seen a definition, anywhere, that said feline anthros always must be considered Neko, and only Canines or foxes could be Furry.

A female anthropomorphic tiger, like "Tigress" in the movie "Kung Fu Panda", would in no way be considered "Neko" by an Anime fan. She's a tiger that talks and walks on two legs, not a Human with feline aspects tacked on. Most people would classify her as "Furry".

What about Equine anthros? Or a Lapine, like Bugs Bunny? Do they fall entirely outside your definitions? Both are "Furry", to most people.

A canine or fox anthro is certainly Furry, and among the most common types you encounter. But so are skunks, mice, horses, rabbits, felines, otters, minks, ferrets, and even dolphins, if they have human anthropomorphic features and behaviors.

It's a reference to a song in the musical Oklahoma! called 'Surrey with the Fringe On Top.'

I only know this due to the movie 'When Harry Met Sally.' ;)

Edit: Hugh Jackman's rendition.

Did you ever see "Carousel"? There's a song in it "Surry With A Fringe on Top".

It was Carousel, right? I'm not mixing up old time musicals I hope :o
