From: Milla Janick Must resist the temptation to go screw around in Quake or Half-Life just to hear hyperactive teenagers screaming. Oh it's funny as hell. I'll group wiht people to do a raid in WOW,and there is always at least one in every group. Screaming his head off about something. And the sad thing is, it's not always a teenager...

Oh gee, sorry I shot you in the face dawg... My bad. Oops, I did it again! I do that with Star Trek fans (sorry Brenda!). I mean, not -now- that the new movie has come out and the entire world loved it; but before the movie came out, all you had to do to get the ranting started was find a group of Trek fans and tell them how awesome the new movie was going to be. Brenda wasn't one of those kinds of fans, though.

I don't slit my wrists when Canon is violated, I don't argue the differences between the term "Trekkie" and "Trekker", and I am not going to the Convention at the end of the month in costume. But I know what you are saying. The uproar at the ST Boards over the new movie was absolutely spellbinding entertainment. It's almost as much fun as watching what happens here, when you call SL a game

That was awesome.

/nitpick Is this a genuine nitpick from someone who didn't get the joke or is it a simulated nitpick playing along with the joke? I can't really tell. === Oh yeah, what I meant to post was, folks who are good at machinima might use this as inspiration to make some freakout videos for various SL problems. I suggest the "I got charged one linden for some group with no reason" problem as one example.

/nitpick Hook, line, sinker. The sentence I posted earlier, I'll admit, is fr trollin' f'r Trek fans. It is Tiberius. It is also "Mr." Spock, not "Dr." Spock, and he does not do a "Jedi" nerve pinch, but a Vulcan nerve pinch. And yes, all on Star Trek, not Star Wars. Gets 'em every time.

That was awesome. hmmmmm I wonder if that's a good way to raise your children. After all we can't spank them any longer without being turned in to CPS for child abuse...... Dr. Spock might be on to something there, even if he did get his sci-fi movies confused. As a side note are you trying to say that Captain Kirk is childish? *grin*

No way. While we're on the subject of Machinema, we should all get together and make a movie in which a couple of Star Trek and BSG characters blow up Darth Vader and the Death Star using a "Serenity" with blaster cannons on the wings. I guarantee you, it will make people asplode. Literally - they'll be the first death certificates in the world to actually say "Asploded".

The sentence I posted earlier, I'll admit, is fr trollin' f'r Trek fans. It is Tiberius. The middle name is a very important thing. On one of those forums Brenda was talking about, I saw a thread where one guy was highly upset after seeing the trailer, for many reasons - but the particular reason mentioned in the thread was a part of the trailer where a little kid, after nearly getting killed, says in an out-of-breath voice "My name is James Tiberius Kirk". The thread starter was upset because to him, it sounded like the kid said "My name is James Syberius Kirk". He was angry that the filmmakers had changed Kirk's middle name. They hadn't, of course, but to him it sounded like they had in the trailer, and he was furious. And imagine - not just one or two threads like this, but dozens. It was hilarious.

Oh gee, sorry I shot you in the face dawg... My bad. Oops, I did it again! My fav was finding the kid with a short fuse in any FPS like Call of Duty, then running over after he's been shot and "tea bagging" him. You can actually see them get worse & worse at the game as their frustration & anger goes up. My favorite moment was when some 10yr old kid (he confessed eventually, it was an "adult only server" got in and started mouthing off. The usual stuff about someone being gay, a few racial slurs tossed in. So what do the other players do? HEH! Anytime the lil' punk would spawn, his own team would shoot him.

Yeah got to admit when you get the power levellering kids into a team of adults there for the fun, it can be ammusing, even better for the ones dumb enough to hit on any female Avatar, my favorite was to lead them on a bit then when it started getting saucy just say "hang on while I put the grandkids to bed" and watch how fast the either leave the team or the better ones would go off in team chat how wrong it was for agrandmother to play a FPS, till someone else in the team would say, "dude, you're hitting on a 40yo guy Other fun times are when they delegate themselves as team leader ignoring the plan to make a trap for the enemy or start instructing the team healer how to do their job, and charge into battle alone, wondering why my healer won't TP the ir body back to the team or ressurect them. Even better were the tells when he left the team and formed a new team but couldn't get them back into his mission because we still in his mission wihout him. Then you get the ones who tell you your build is crap, what class/spells,weapons/powers you should have taken. Or the ones that complain that the healer/buffer has crap combat abilities or should be doing more attacks in combat.

Well, 3 of the 4 vids you posted were staged, to start with, and it's not just WoW. There are so many game freakout videos of all different types. It's not people freaking out specifically over WoW but since there is such a large playerbase the vids relating to it will be a larger percentage of them, not to mention you looked in the related videos section.. which will of course flag more WoW vids. Gameplay/freakout vids have indeed become some kind of internet meme/viral video thing. People do it for the laughs. How many people in this thread posted they thought it was funny? Yeah. The video in the OP is fake, just like the other 3 vids by the same guy. The whole family is in on it. If you couldn't tell by the guy busting his "dad's"guitar on the porch.. do you really think a family with a Hummer and brand new Challenger (drools) is going to get their teenager a rusted out pickup with graffiti spraypainted all over it? Really? I mean... REALLY??? Come on now. And you think someone that actually had that extreme of a temper wouldn't bust a window or headlight instead of just whacking the bed? It's likely they picked it up from the junkyard for the yearly highschool "car smash" and decided it would be a great prop for their "violent teen" comedy vid series. Don't get me wrong, there are some vids out there that are real, but most of the extreme ones are staged, to be precisely that. Extreme. Some are bad actors and it's obvious. Some are not. Don't be naive. When a vid shows up that has somebody who supposedly has no idea he's being taped, ducking under a bedcover to take off clothes and trying to shove a remote up his butt for no real good reason.. that should be enough to scream out "STAGED!!!!!111!!one!!!!" to you. If you really, really believe this vid is real, that's a 50 dkp minus! (for the uninitiated.. that's a reference to probably the most famous WoW nerdrage.. it's hilarious.. though it's only an audio recording there have been remixes with staged video added) As far as which is more pathetic.. the net is all about views. This one got them 8 pages of attention on this forum thread alone. Yeah. Traffic. That's what it's about. That should have been an easy one.

Mildly amusing, But i'm not Buying it, It seemed a Bit too staged. Complete with Entry and exit ques.
Smiled a Bit at him trying to stuff the remote up his Hoop though.
