From: Desmond Shang Quite a bit more connotation about this than I had realised, for some... those were some... interesting replies, I guess! Meh, whatever. First person to find me inworld can bite. It might have to be kind of a quickie* bite, because generally I am teleporting all over the place taking care of business like crazy. *no naughty connotation implied Des...don't do it....don't give into the dark side...I'm begging you!

I've received bite requests while wearing an avatar that looks like the thing in my signature. That's how I know it's not role-playing.

From: Desmond Shang ...but nobody in the entire history of the game has bit Desmond. Or even offered! I'm starting to feel a little left out! I'll bite ya. I'll even be a sport and let YOU pick the body part.

From: Desmond Shang All this talk of vampire bites... everyone either playing the vampire game, or strongly disliking it, or... being *involved* in some way... ...but nobody in the entire history of the game has bit Desmond. Is this your subtle way of telling people off? "Bite me!"

You don't need to forget "the" mythos as there isn't only one. You can choose to incorporate a non-sun fearing mythos into your own personal vampire tale or make something up - it's all valid.

So if I want to play a vampire who looks like a ferret and steals your soul by stealing your socks, that's all good?

You pretty much HAVE to do that (was my point, since a vampire can't know if someone they approach is seeing them in daylight or night).

I for sure will hang a cross on my door and garlic on all my windows. Folks in the town and villages must be warned not be out at night as their lord will be out to hunt after dark. Churches and tavern must prepare to shelter any traveller or folk who can't reach home by nightfall. I hope no one will invent a 100% sunblock lotion. Otherwise even daytime is not safe anymore.

Don't worry, for most serious vampire stories, the victim must be fed blood from the vampire in a conscious act of "turning" the victim into a vampire. It is not usually an accidental by-product of being fed upon, except in the most inane versions of vampire tales. Caledon is as safe as it ever was and given the fact I hunt there often, it is not that safe

From: Ponsonby Low (But notice that Bob doesn't venture into the Shoals of Its/It's.....and its rule-breaking possessive form....AAIIIIEEEEEEE!!!!) Pronouns don't break the rule, pronouns *are* the rule. The possessive apostrophe is an elided pronoun.

Technically you are certainly correct, but in practical terms---in terms of educating the young (and not-so-young) to use apostrophes correctly, "its" is going to look like a possessive that doesn't use an apostrophe. And surely the point is more to get people to remember that 'it' behaves differently than 'hit'. (As in: DON'T use an apostrophe when writing, say, "that collision prim is too small, its width must be increased", but DO use one when saying "that DJ is pulling something odd, I'm sure that that Beyonce hit's tempo is way off."

That's where the scorpion comes in. The easy way to remember "its" is to remind yourself that "he" doesn't become "he's" and "she" doesn't become "she's" and "they" doesn't become "they's" and "I" doesn't become "I's" and "we" doesn't become "we's", and "you" doesn't become "you's" (not even in New York, "youse" is the plural, not the possessive).

The other day I had someone approach me and ask how I had been in SL for so long without being bit. I had wondered if I had ever been bit. I remember a while ago someone had stolen my soul. LOL They can have it. I wasn't sure about being bit tho but now I know.
