An outfit to wear (initially) when taking Scylla to a nude beach? or indeed anywhere/

Sling - I'm trying to break her in gently. Small doses of adrenaline administered cautiously. One step at a time, and first step was just to get her to a nude beach, clothed....with a woman in a man's av clothed, for moral support and back-up. Let's start there.

I can tell you where to get them, but in return i get a TP when Scylla whips off her bathing suit at the nude beach. Deal?

LOL!!

I already posted this this, Eli . . . but you must have missed it!

Scylla....would you like authentic western Montana Man? or a metro-city-slicker version? He was thinking maybe a metro/chic/corporate/western look.

In addition to what's already been mentioned, check out SEY, Deetalez, Xplosion, Alphamale, FORM, Luck Inc, MRM, Damiani (sp?), and .... umm... I'm going off memory. Can't recall other stuff. You're going to have to pick through the froo-froo stuff though. Sometimes there are really gay outfits mixed in with some pretty cool clothes.

I also got this worn brown-suede duster that looks awesome, but I don't remember where I got it.

Uhhhhhh . . . :o

Well . . . probably the latter? As long as it's not what SL seems to think constitutes "urban chic" . . .

This doesn't mean we're dating now, does it?

Thanks for the catch, 3Ring! I missed that. That's the beach!

Scylla - urban chic was the ideal. He has some shopping to do, tonight. But if you're already getting naked....not fair to put limitations on him. And just because you chat with someone on a nude beach....does not imply dating or anything else. Please.

Dude sends Vance a firm handshake and thank you.

There's a place that sells flannel shirts. Dont recall the name but I think it had the word Safari in it. Buttoned down too. Which is funny because I was looking for one with an open front. I've got to check if my male alt has the landmarks.

Did you know they have pants that look like fly is open? Lol!

Dunno if it's Montana enough for you but Made Men, if it's still around, has some urban chic stuff. ::MIA:: (stands for Men In Action) has casuals for decent prices.

Just tell him where to get a flannel shirt that buttons, and he will be content for the day.

Have you checked Robin Sojourner Wood's Avatar Store? I'm standing in front of a display of plaid flannel shirts, both closed and open. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Livingtree/93/135/25

The shirts are unisex, and some of the colors might not suit, but you should be able to find something you like. Nice sweaters there, too. And jeans.

EDIT: I originally stated that the open flannel shirts had tees under them. I now see that they do not, but they come on multiple layers and could easily be worn over a tee. (Robin also sells some really nice tees, on the wall opposite the flannel shirts...)

I outfitted my male alt though one of the mens hunts last summer. I still ended up paying for a decent skin and a tolerable AO, (though watching him makes my back hurt).

Offhand, Style Starts Here has jeans and shirts for less than 200L each. Classico also has some good casual clothes at a reasonable price.

So I dust off my male av, to take Scylla for a tour of the nude beaches...and realize that his only outfit, a tux....might not be appropriate to start off with. Don't want to toss him out entirely nude.....might scare her.
...
He just wants to portray a Manly Man.

Question:
Are you guys having FUN in SL? Montana Man was a tad stressed.

Tip: jeans + t-shirts from DMC, then add a leather jacket from aoharu.
shoes for that look... B&G, drawmachine, aoharu.
maybe some NON BLINGY sunglasses. Solar Aviator II or the likes.

and yes I'm having fun. Not thru shopping though :P

Three years ago I had tremendous difficulty finding clothing, but it has greatly improved over the years, and my own interests are fairly niche.

Try doing a quick search on XStreet, sorting my age>ascending, in the men's apparel section.

Silent Sparrow, SF Design, Falln, to name a few, have both masculine and elegant designs.

I have one pair of leather trousers, and I remember hunting all over SL, finding many pairs, but only one designed to my interests -- this was SF Design.

Silent Sparrow is great for mixing and matching. Oh, and check out Schadenfreude as well. While Falln extends to the fantasy, Az is very prolific and caters to all tastes.

Good luck!

He asks men for shopping advice. They do not like this.

He asks women for shopping advice. They are very suspicious. They think he is hitting on them.

If he asks the women for advice in open chat....their boyfriends become unglued, and he gets a private IM. Not pretty.

If he asks the men for advice in open chat.....they split. Outta there.

Ditto for asking advice in private IM....but a wee bit more unpleasant.

Looks as though you've got plenty of solutions in this thread. But for future endeavors, perhaps a request from your FEMALE avatar (for 'clothes for my guy' or something similar) would inspire a more cooperative spirit from those you ask.

(Quirk of our culture and all that sort of thing. ^_^)

Trust me...I considered this option. There were some gorgeous men in those stores, and I was ready to pull the plug on Montana Man, and send in Mickey. (of course, half of those gorgeous men could be Mickey's too - hehe)

But it was also an exercise in being a man in SL. I had talked to Scylla about this in another thread. It is Very Interesting.

Wish we could adjust that quirk.

Montana Man is forever in your debt!

He thanks you all for all the tips, and will be out shopping. He was a wee bit intimidated by Scylla....and the new clothes should help with his confidence.

Ah, yes, I agree. That it's interesting, and that the quirk could use adjusting!

"Being the opposite gender in SL for [some period of time]" should be on the curriculum of all high schools (or equivalent), in my view.

A good way to find stores you like - look at the pix in blogs.

http://ffform.wordpress.com

http://freefindsformen.blogspot.com

http://slstyle.wordpress.com

And I second Nic's vote for Livingtree (Robin Sojourner's sim.)

Did anyone mention SF Design?

ETA: Okay. Someone has mentioned everything above. Nevermind.
