(it's a wee bit tense in here, today)
So I dust off my male av, to take Scylla for a tour of the nude beaches...and realize that his only outfit, a tux....might not be appropriate to start off with. Don't want to toss him out entirely nude.....might scare her.
Went to two dozen men's clothing stores.....and all the men's clothes look a tad "girly." Just want him to look like he walked away from his horse ranch in Montana....which seems to be a difficult task here.
He asks men for shopping advice. They do not like this.
He asks women for shopping advice. They are very suspicious. They think he is hitting on them.
If he asks the women for advice in open chat....their boyfriends become unglued, and he gets a private IM. Not pretty.
If he asks the men for advice in open chat.....they split. Outta there.
Ditto for asking advice in private IM....but a wee bit more unpleasant.
If he forgets that he is a man....and asks a woman where she got that gown.....not good at all. Pretty much clears the whole store out.....either gender.
Men's clothes are about triple the price of women's clothes.
It seems that men do not like to button their shirts in SL.
He just wants to portray a Manly Man.
Question: Are you guys having FUN in SL? Montana Man was a tad stressed.

LOL!
Just put on the clothes from "Boy Next Door" in your library, then add a freebie leather jacket.

Okay Mickey? I kinda know what makes a lot of men happy here, and its got nothing to do with shopping for a tux.

Sorry, Jig....but this particular man does not want you to make him "happy." Just tell him where to get a flannel shirt that buttons, and he will be content for the day.

I can tell you where to get them, but in return i get a TP when Scylla whips off her bathing suit at the nude beach. Deal?

I have never seen any flannel shirts, but DE Designs has some "normal" clothes. Also I am not sure if it is still open, but Little Rebel has/had some decent stuff too.

I want you to tp Montana Man into the store....and in open chat...have a discussion with him on thread counts in the flannel and cotton shirts. For research sake.

Artilleri. Their shirt and jeans. Love that stuff.
Indi has an affordable prize on their packs.
Is his "male parts" up to date? He want to look good on them nude beaches, yes? Lotus has nice parts. affordable too.
Horeenbek had a great pack of sneakers in their subscribo. Probably gone now... J's has nice boots, cowboy boots too. J's has sandals with prim toes for men. Kalnins has great sandals without prim toes.

Grasp and Aoharu has great jackets. I don't care if you are female in RL, if you dress up in Grasp's stuff I am going to check you out with my exellent zooming skills. And get that Belleza group gift skin.... *drools*

Pixeldoll's "Pixelchaps" line.
And, yes, it's a lot easier to get help shopping if you have boobs.

He thanks you, Lou and Marianne and Argent!
Yes, there was some concern about the parts thing on the nude beach. He certainly did not want to be caught without one....and did not want to embarrass Scylla, by not having one.
It's a wee bit off on "shade"....but he's on a budget, and he did not have further plans to "use" it, beyond appearance sake....so I think that he is comfortable with it. It was on older model, so he had some concerns on whether it would relax for the beach or not....and yes it relaxes....so he is all set up there.
His main problem, at the moment....is "forgetting" about it, when he leaves the beach.

Gay men and women makes the best male avatars. (Sorry Eli! You look fabulous too!) ok, Marianne....part of research, here. When you say you will zoom in....will this be a game of cat and mouse? Will you send him a private IM, and comment? Because he walked all around a store....and women followed him. They would stand right in front of him, and face him. And never say a word. He did not talk to them. Were they expecting an IM? Why didn't they just IM themselves?

If you like the look, I have found many of the men's stores in the Victorian and Steampunk sims have good men's clothing, some of which is modern in appearance. Look in Caledon, Steelhead, New Babbage, and Winterfall for men's clothes that offer decent coverage and are nicely displayed. Should be easy to find a Western shirt and perhaps a vest that go with jeans and sneakers or boots. I've also found that polite conversation in these areas does not lead to assumptions about one's desires or inclinations that you are finding on mainland sims.

From: Marianne Little Gay men and women makes the best male avatars. I would have to disagree with that statement. I enjoy shopping and I’m quite pleased with how both my male and female alts look D2TK has a nice line of cowboy boots and hats BTW I find it easier to look in xstreet first unless you like wandering around for days. Actually its no different then shopping for women’s clothes just fewer choices
