From: someone The current main viewer (1.19.1.4) is basically the same as the prior RC, so you don't actually have to use 1.20. Fair comment! I remember when WindLight was first tried as a First Look RC and all sorts of wierd things happened like huge black squares in the sky!!! Yet now, as we've seen quite recently, WindLight CAN work beautifully.

(yes i did update all my drivers, made me crash faster)

Well I like it, and its running great, but the camera controls are all borked. That is the only part I dislike, but important enough I might run back to the normal viewer. I am using RCs for a few months, since Windlight came out

Let me rephrase that... I am downloading the regular client, as the RC is absolutely hell for a builder. Camera controls have their own will. And I tend to say: If I want you to have an own will, I will give you one Marcel

From: Ceera Murakami I dislike the bright interface, but eventually there will be a skinning system that will allow us to tone it down.
It's nice to be able to build up to 4096 M high. Too bad none of the TP systems I have can work that high... I have to ride a prim to get to my 3000 M high building platform. I can give you a free copy of a sim-wide tp I've been working on.

I think someone said it's under the Advanced menu now.

Yup I'm not seeing any tools options anywhere, like "Select only my objects," "Link," "Unlink" etc. Am I missing it?

From: Zlad Voom i love 1.20 but i hate the way it was distributed. They should think about the betagrid again and make it more attractive for regular user. Right now LL is at the same level like M$ they use the paying coustomers as an extended Betatesing It is all your choise, test it or not, test are really important and I hate those who JUST complain about THOSE who do successful business!

Oh dear... I think Dazzle* is a copyrighted name from a company called Pinnacle Systems. All the Dazzle* range of devices are USB to video camera or DVD interfaces. You can find them on the shelf in any of the big electronics chain stores

Why gradients?
I wonder if the skinning system, if it actually comes into existence, will let you get rid of gradients?
I loathe gradients in interfaces. Why can't I have the text on a button displayed on a background of uniform color?
It's not like gradients are the hot new thing. Having gradients all through an interface is old and boring and trite as heck.
Help, the sinking avatar bug is getting me! At least that bug doesn't involve gradients.

For me 1.20 actually fixes a few issues that make the standard viewer unusable. The biggest issue that it fixes is that I can actually use it. The now standard Windlight viewer does not work for me at all. It is plagued with the ATI triangle render glitch bug. And turning VBO off is not a solution when that then drops your FPS down to 1 in an empty sim with nothing around but linden trees. In 1.20 I still get that issue, but only when surrounded by alpha textures. Not overfond of the colour scheme, but can live with it. I do like that I can turn off the Search bar thingy at the top and get back the 2 bars instead, as personally I need to keep a pretty constant eye on packet loss. I like the avatar cost and that you can mute expensive avatars so you don't have to waste graphics time/power rendering in costly avatars. I also like that the statistics interface is now movable! On to the bad bits. I hate that many of the useful and often used functions are now buried deep in menus. That glow/eye tearing bright light that happens on fabrics and other textures is horrible! Yes you can fix it, but seems it doesn't carry to the next login so you have to fix it each time. There is this weird jump/stutter thing where things seem to constantly be moving a bit. That is really frustrating and annoying when trying to work on anything that requires focus. Land lines now seem to show through everything including solid objects like rocks.

I'd still like to see viewers for SL that use the normal method of creating graphics for the operating system, like Firefox and Opera and other succesful muti-platform programs do - normal looking and working menus and dialog boxes, that would work with programs like Auto-IT (for a Windows example), and abide by the conventions for well behaved applications on each operating system supported by SL.
LL wants to be the 3D internet with millions of concurrent users. This is more likely to come true if the viewer acts like the common programs that millions of people use, like open office and Outlook Express and Word and tons of others, with the addition of a 3D world view, rather than an idiosyncratic and often bizarre, hard to read, weird interface.

If you hate it so much, why don't you help those of us who are making alternatives? https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Skinning_HowTo/Basics is the place to start There's things I like about Dazzle, and things I don't (the lack of contrast and general white-washing of the toolbar inparticular), but it's a good change forward. Up through 1.9, the viewer artwork files didn't even have readable file names!

I like 1.20.
I think people who hate something are much more likely to post than people who like it.

How do you add the ability to display thumbnails of j2c files to windows explorer?
I have programs to manipulate them, and to browse them with thumnails views, but I want to add the thumbnail ability to windows explorer.
