Does anyone else HATE 1.20?

I think the graphics are horrible and there is no map buttons on the bottom of the screen or inventory buttons fly buttons nothing..

My avatar is UGLY with this new version and it automatically logs instant messages grrrrrr



Where can I get my other version back with the buttons at the bottom of the screen and great graphics? It made me download this version now I am stuck hunting down logged chats and deleting them grrrrr

How do I turn off the "double up arrow"=run? Also how do I get rid of this DOS box?

The up arrow thing is a showstopper for me.

Probably due to Windlight. I'm not a fan, but you can adjust the lighting in the environmental editor under the World menu.


You can change that in Preferences.


1.20 is a Release Candidate viewer, which is test (beta) software. However, the new main viewer, 1.19.1.4, is also Windlight-enabled if that's what is causing your av to look 'ugly.'

I went in and downloaded the old version but I still lost my bottom toolbar for my flying and stuff GRRRRRR

I loved that map option at my fingertips grrr now I cant gt it back..


WHY dont they stop ... WHO wants thier IM's saved automatically NOT ME!

And I hate the color of it .. It gives me a headache if its not fixed I will not be SL for much longer and I am on alllllllllllllllllllllllll the time. I willl downgrade my account. I have a headache from 30 minutes of playing it. NOT to mention the aggravation

Are you running it in windowed or full screen mode? If full screen, switching to windowed might make them visible again.


Uncheck the box for it in Preferences then. It defaults that way, but you can still change it.


Again, it's not required at this point and they do plan to make the UI color more easily customizable by the user before it becomes a major release, so you won't have to stay with the blue.

In a thread just down the page Thraxis Epsilon posts a workaround to get something approaching the old look back.

I like TE's "retro" version better than the eye-zapping default, but I still miss a neutral background to IMs and, related, that the IM window does not go transparent when you click on something to move focus off the IM window. I find the dark blue box distracting. I suppose the answer is to close it when not actively using it, but that's such a hassle.

I downloaded 20 just on a whim... it hated me. I signed on, I crashed. I deleted everything signed on again.Got the running out of memory message annnnnnd crashed... I deleted everything once more.
Downloaded 19(4) Wooo hoo home again home again jiggity jig jig... I guess I have to wait for some of the bugs to corrected before I can try again.

View->Toolbar toggles the buttons, is that all you are missing for that part?

I am really never one to complain, but even for test software this is unuseable.

Perhaps it's just my Mac, but you cannot edit anything on the ground unless you click the Build button and have the edit window already up.

Whenever my arrow passes over my resting avatar, it jumps around a bit.

I couldn't open my profile by right-clicking myself.

Teleport home did nothing.

Whenever I try to focus my camera on something specific, the view slides all over the place.

I could get over the oogly colors if only it worked properly. I'll just jump back to the standard release version 'til stuff calms down.

Oh, and while I'm on a rant, I'll complain that I hate the JIRA system and don't want to spend and hour trying to figure out how to report all this stuff, or dig through all the reports to vote on the stuff. OK, OK, I'll do it, but I don't wanna.

I can't run it long enough to develop a hate (or love) for it. After about one maybe two minutes it crashes. From what I can tell of the new GUI, it's mostly irrelevant. Same stuff, different color. Big deal.

i love 1.20 but i hate the way it was distributed. They should think about the betagrid again and make it more attractive for regular user.
Right now LL is at the same level like M$ they use the paying coustomers as an extended Betatesing

OMG I was just staring at the graphics of the last RC thinking how LL really hit the ball out of the park--then I crashed--then I had to update to 1.20...

HORRIBLE!

It's like watching analogue TV it doesn't seem as clear, and it seems too bright for some reason--not just the frames... but it seemed to hover around a particularly bright 3PM for quite a while. That part is prolly just my imagination;

but I want the last version back!!!

Yes and we're all so damned jumpy! I felt drunk and motion sick too and had to sit down for a while.

The last RC is now the main viewer.

oh but i tried to update and there is a problem with that one... now I have to wait for the next update to the normal viewer before i can use it.

Really? It's supposed to be virtually the same as the previous RC. Did you try uninstalling whatever version(s) you have now and manually deleting all of the remaining SL files first? I had a data corruption issue once when I had both a standard and WL version viewer installed...I had to remove everything and download both again to get them to work.

Are you talking about the main viewer? I think it was an installer error. those never get cleared up by uninstalling/reinstalling. If it has the same file name, I'll never be able to download it again.

I can't get it fully installed and I can't open the old one. So I have to wait till the next update--which will prolly be thisweekend anyway.

This is horrible, one of the worst ideas LL has ever come up with. The bright colors might be okay for the Mac fanboys but for normal people it's just too big of a distraction. I think Torley does a great job in SL, but in this case his preference of garish watermelon colors is like shooting himself in the foot. Nobody in their right mind would ever want an interface that he thinks looks "cool".
If they release this and start encouraging users to hack the XML code it will turn into a support nightmare.

Yes its an OPTIONAL RC, but to LL the word optional means "we will ram it down your throat later no matter how many people complain". Just like Windshite. And no turning off Atmospheric Shaders DOES NOT give exactly the same look as the old lighting. So will people stop saying that!

I've just downloaded the latest RC viewer and I do have issues with it. The dazzle control graphics work OK on the laggy old comp, but on the new one which displays the semi-transparent menu panels, they are all but unreadable - like very dull dark blue on semi-transparent dark grey background.

Also problem on newer comp of walk AO suddenly breaking into frantic running, plus lag is bad.

I'm not one to criticise LL, I like WindLigfht and all the other stuff that has made our experience better and better. But this latest update needs another update....and quick! I don't think the dazzle viewer garphics are an improvement on the old ones, which wer nice and unobtrusive and easy to read.

What would be good is to have customisable viewer graphics with a choice of background and text colours.

Having said this, I cannot see what the complaints about WindLight are all about.
The lighting effects, reflections and sky are far superior to what we had before!
