From: Isabeau Imako Okay, I finally do remember, sort of. I don't know the name of the place, but it was some kind of Info Hub. There was a long quay surrounded by deserted land set to 'build'. Along the quay were many rotating SL Hands and benches. I could see planes and huge uncompleted builds in the distance, and there was a group of people nearby using all the sound gestures. It was my home for a little while, but I tried to avoid it.
Anyone know what this place is called? Imnotgoing? I'm pretty sure I ended up at the same place you're talking about. I don't remember its name, either - but there are no quays at Waterhead, so I know that's not it.

From: Joseph Abel So, now knowing what sort of interesting times could be had in SL, I went searching for First Land (it existed then) to set up my very own den of iniquity...the rest is history... You have a den of iniquity??? /me makes yet ANOTHER note....

I was dumped in Plum which apparently is modeled after the classic welcome areas of old. There was a sandbox in the region so I learned how to rez things there. I pretty much just explored the local regions around Plum for a long while. I was keen to change my look but no one really told me how. I bumped into a mall that had some freebies and I remember feeling as if I had just won some loot.

I came to life in SL on a cold December day in 2006. I did not spend much time on OI if I remember correctly. 30 minutes maybe. As soon as I had played a little with the appearance sliders, I TPed to somewhere. I don't remember where. Must have been some place I found in Search, because I remember I was quick to discover the workings of the search facility. The first places I went to were empty and deserted. I did not meet another AV for a long time. I remember I went to some club or bar which was empty at the time I got there. You could camp on a barstool or dance and make some money that way. I tried it, but I must not have stayed long enough because I never got any money. All this happened on the morning on my first day. In the evening on my first day I met a friendly person who could see I was new and told me a bit about SL. She told me about the Free Dove. I went there later and picked up everything within view On my second day in SL I went to a place where I met an Italian girl. She had a skyhome which she showed me. We were standing on the outside balcony whatching the moon. All very romantic - well - and then she seduced me. I now knew what SL could also be about OK, the rest is history. This is me on my first day in SL. December 22nd 2006. Poor and lonely and with nothing but the clothes on my body And here I am again, about 6 months later, standing outside my house. I had come a long way.

Ahern. There weren't many people there, so lag was minimal. First thing I did was head to the build area nearby & start trying to build stuff.

Ahern. And I looked and thought - eww ... what a bunch of morons, all running around yelling. That, plus being so ugly, I wasn't even going to bother. Went to the kitchen to get a drink and when I came back I was upside down in suspension in a dungeon, with someone else sitting there RL with a butter-wouldn't-melt expression. I bet he probably wishes he'd not done that now, two years later

Canis Beach. I didn't know anyone in SL when I joined, and being a bookish sort, I actually read The Official Guide to Second Life before I took my avatar off OI. (Okay, I skipped the chapter on scripting.) I knew I wanted a virtual dog so as soon as I finished the training stations on OI I used Search to look for dogs and went to one of the VKC parks--Canis Beach. I eventually bought my lab there. It is still one of my favorite places in SL.

Well as I started my SL as an Alt so I spent all of 20 secs on OI and was in a club being outfited with a skin, hair and clothes 20 secs after that. My main got bored with SL soon after and I've been here on my own ever since. I think my dump point was Ahern as thats where I use to show up neked after I crashed till I got my first home of my own that is.

/me makes yet ANOTHER note.... **nervous laugh** Uhm...well, not so much iniquity as.... ...well... hm. (/looks down at his signature line and rolls his eyes at himself) I do have a den...well, more like ruins...I like ruins. And nothing so guache as a "hip swinging bachelor pad" - my place would just bore any of those homeless, womanizing, cheap-assed sneaks that try to get girls into houses just for SLex. But I like it. (and any and all iniquity is strictly chat based) **wink**

(and any and all iniquity is strictly chat based) **wink** I love exploring ruins. I do not seem to find much in the way of ruins in Second Life, though. By the way, that is also why I was very reluctant to visit slexchange for a long time (slex).

Mine was a free sex place of some kind. I remember a pool, and a bunch of pose balls that I didn't understand at the time. Everyone was noob like me, and I remember talking with a guy in the pool. I also remember a sleazy guy who was probably a bit more experienced then the rest of us following me into this room with a big white bed, and then talking me through a sex scene with him. It was really silly, but at the time it was quite creepy. I had never played any online games before, so it was all kind of overwhelming and fun.

lucky me had found natalia zeminofs blog befor i actually entered SL, still i would have spent a good 3 hours at the big pond (my ISP) OI and i still have some pretty awsome freebies from there. i then for some reason tp'ed over to a carnival, that was my home for quite some time. kinda fun place lots of ferris wheels and stuff but most the people there were dutch or something. i then made the mistake of using the popular places tab in search. ugly ugly black buildings filled with campers and griefers. eventually i found my way to the big pond islands tho where i spent at least a week befor tp'ing around to search new area's.

I think I wound up at Help Island, then Ahern, where someone took pity on me and took me to The Free Dove.

I have no memory of the 'orientation island' being separate from the rest of SL. I remember rezzing into an area with a bunch of other nearly identical clones, stumbling away, changing my appearance just a wee bit, then following some signs with directions. I got as far as the one that said to hold the pg-up key if you want to fly, and that was that. I flew and flew and flew, stopped somewhere quiet to change my appearance some more, and then kept on flying and exploring. The next day I went premium and bought a 512m and set my home there; I never knew where my original 'home' was set to. For that matter, I didn't know orientation island was a separate isolated place till months later when I read it in this forum.

People *claim* they have a den of iniquity, but really, all they have is a rec room with some plaid-covered chairs and a b/w TV. And for the record of this thread: fortunately, I wasn't dumped anywhere, since a friend had told me about the Blarney Stone Pub. So I did a search, and that's where I headed, all noobly-like.

From: Yosef Okelly Three weeks?!? Sweet mercy, I am so sorry for you. It's a wonder you are sane at all. Three weeks on HIP got me where I am today... thanks to meeting a guy who later became a land baron (who now rents me land at cost), three or four mentors who taught me everything they knew, and a couple of the HIP rats from the day who I dated on and off for over a year... ;] from that time I got a place to rest my head and build my store, skills to build stuff so I could make money to spend without having to buy in, and a tight circle of friends... what more can a girl ask for?

I've seen at least one of those dens of iniquity of Joseph's. It was very high in the air, covered in ruins, and exposed to all who wanted to watch. Wait. Iniquity? My dictionary says that is "injustice or immoral behavior." I do not recall any injustice or immoral behavior occuring there. Never mind.

I was stuck on Orientation Island for ages. I remember hearing people talk about 'the mainland' but thinking I had to complete the challenges on OI before I could move on. LOL.
I got so frustrated wandering around that bloody island. I didn't realise I could just TP off it.
Eventually I worked out how to escape and I ended up at a cool little beach and met some really amazing people. I spent a few days finding my feet there before exploring the big wide world...
