Can you remember Where you were Dumped?

I was inspired to do this thread after seeing a comment in one of the other threads about noobs being dumped onto their land on their first trip off OI.

Can you remember where you were sent on your very first step off OI?
It was a while ago now, for me, but i remember being dropped off right outside a club, There were two girls dancing in there on the dancefloor and i wanted to dance too.
They got me doing some weird freebie jig, at the time i had no idea what it was but thought it was so cool!! (I look back now and cringe when i see it).
I had no idea how to stop dancing, and they had a good laugh at me.

So I wandered outside of the club after finally managing to stop, and the next building over was a double storey place, bar type surrounds downstairs and a flashing sign for more fun upstairs. Curiousity got the better of me and I wandered up.

I was confronted by a place, which i think.. was called pirate petes, or pirate pats, anyhow, I had my first run in with seeing avatars on poseballs, and my eyes popped out of my head at all the people having virtual sex on the floor...Quickly walked out of there and hit the search up, I stuck in the word clothes, got a tp to a clothes store.. and never looked back from there!!

It was a very interesting first hour in secondlife and will never forget it to this day... Im pretty glad I tp-d out to a clothes store and carried on my journey, instead of just thinking, OMG what is this place, logging out and never coming back.

So can you remember where you were dropped after OI, was it somewhere funny? Any good stories to tell?

Not so much funny as scary...
I got tp'd off orientation island by some guy who I had just met - he showed me a couple of...um....places lol. He sort of ambushed me while I was learning about prims or something.
We ended up at a particular place which kinda freaked me out a bit. Its called ... Sensual Stoneworks - I wont go into details of what happened - not pretty (dont go searching for the place if you are sensitive of the kind of material you want to see in SL i.e. - totally NOT pg)

So, freaked out, I disappeared from SL for a bit after that, but after reading a few blog entries etc I decided to return, and found myself in the forums and at the hangout.

The rest, as they say, is history

My first place was also a club of sorts...but there were monsters and avatars unlike any I had seen to that point. It was actually quite creepy. Nobody spoke to me, I just walked my newbie lil self right through the middle of it and out through the other side to continue down a long and winding cobblestone road. I ended up on some land with what looked like a flying saucer with seats in a circle. I didn't understand the option to fly it because when I tried, I was told that I wasn't the owner. Outside of the club there wasn't a soul to be seen. I was hating it at that point.

I think it was Ahern. It was a sort of hippie ish place, tents and rugs a pillows. A guy dressed as Superman offered to sell me a beer for a dollar, and then a well endowed girl dressed scimpily and encrusted in bling offered me a margarita and a joint. I declined both offers and started exploring. I used that as my login point for a day or so, then used Last location for a few days, then wound up at Odds and Ends and hung out there for a while before discovering NCI.

in april 2004 madiera westerburg stepped off orientation island into the welcome area at ahern nice small place with a bunch of avatars, not the crazy mad place it is now where you cant even move, and from there i got sucked into this event hosting cult for realm development casino called the divas....back when i would hide in a corner to change clothes...ah the memories...*chuckles*

I'm pretty sure it was a store, a rather large one, like 3 stories high, and nobody was there. Except people washing windows and mopping floors. I thought to myself "why isn't anyone here shopping, and why are people here washing windows and cleaning floors that obviously aren't dirty?"

Tried to speak to one of them, but they didn't answer. Of course, they were camping. Trying to earn money and probably AFK.

I wandered around that sim, trying desparately to find someone to have a conversation with to no avail. It was during those moments I wondered why I had joined.

Had MANY such moments at the beginning. Glad I stuck it out

I'm still too noobie to forget. It was the Hanja Welcome Area. My home is still set there, I keep a tab for it in my picks, and I still meet new friends there all the time. If a noobie pops in with question, I gladly chat with them and help them out. But I eat the rude noobies alive! (>_<

i joined with a friends help, and was TP's to Sarah Nerds freebie warehouse. i had a quiet and sane first experience.

after completing OI, i got thrown into someones private house on "Explorers Rangeland" with a security orb set to eject after 10 seconds.
it was also set as my "home".
lol

i was lucky a friend of mine tp'd me to a club that our grp sort of took over it was not popular at the time not sure how they all found it but all of us hung out there daily for months and most of us worked there at one time or another

once i got there to see everyone and get them on friends list they hooked me up with someone that did a great shape for me and showed me where to get free prim hair and a nice skin so i was lucky i was all hooked up in my first few hours

Yep, this is the way to go - I am so lucky that I joined with my brother (who was already 2 months old) on his laptop next to me. He TP'd me out to a freebie place and showed me the basics. So I don't have any funny stories - but I had a smooth, peaceful newbie experience with lots of guidance.

I had it easy. Several RL friends talked me into joining SL so my first tp was within seconds of ressing and I was on a private island being tutored by 2 kittens, a lioness and a husky.

Yes, your first tp is your first home point no matter where it is.

Ahern. My RL dislike of crowds kicked in, I flew straight up and away and was exploring before I'd been here 5 minutes.

I don't remember. Is that weird?

No. I've been trying to recall and I can't. I have the memory of a pack of elephants, yet I have no recollection of my first days in SL.

In the park behind our house. There was a pond with swans and we were sitting on the banks of the pond. She told me to leave her there. She said she was muting me and and told me not to try and contact her until she was ready. So I stood up and wlaked away. I did see her again one time after that, but it was over when she dumped me the first time.

A bunch of us forumite friends (together on a forum for years) joined up within a couple of days of each other. I was one of the last to join up so when I landed on OI, I waited for stuff to rez - I was warned it could take a while. I vaguely remember a parrot, and then I was told click on the TP button that one of the girls was sending me. I did, and ended up in the Free Dove. I never got to see OI They showed me the basics, and off we went exploring. Though, the first place we went "exploring" at after the Free Dove was Fey's

The Welcome Area I first saw was not the same as what exists today. It was much smaller and there was a fountain in the middle. I remember you could build there and there was always alot of junk around. I met up with some friends from there.com shortly afterward. I sure wish I could find some of the first people I met though.

The PSG sandbox in Mauve where a guy in a long black cape and helmet swooped in yanked me out of the box as I was flying and said *give me all your Lindens*

Some Welcome Area. It had a vaguely Grecian-looking build, with columns and a roof, but no walls.

If it had a dragon, It was Ahern... If not, it was Hanja. (^_^)

All I can remember was that is was by a road side. There wasn't anything around except a building with open columns supporting a roof as seen in the Greek temples. No other avatars were around. I sent an IM to a friend who had recently left Help Island and she sent a TP for me to join her.

Awwwwww Thats SO sad! (hehe) and my first thought too when reading the title of the thread.
