The sim immediately to the west of Ahern. I got dumped by some road. There may have been railroad tracks. I wandered across the road and there was a photo booth, so I tried it but couldn't figure out how to take a picture. Then I wandered down the road and found an adult shop and someone tried to convice me I could make money selling drugs in SL. I declined the offer and eventually found my way to the Ahern infohub, which was an absolute zoo. I don't know why I didn't give up right then.

The very old WA at Ahern, there was a teleport and it was in the sky, you would step off it and end up crashing to the ground. There was a fence there, many sat on it. A old shooting gallary, ballon rides and a sandbox over a hill. Oh also old stage 4 nearby LOL

Isabel Infohub. At the time it was infested by a little gaggle of adolescent griefers who were into serial orbitting of newbies. Eventually logged on when they weren't and found the tp set up there for The Shelter, which is nearby and an excellent place to send newbies for orientation. Nowadays Isabel is no-rezz, no-script, and the griefers are long gone. It's kind of boring now! But The Shelter is still nearby, and still a good place to send newbies.

OK, this is a good memory for me. After OI, I was thrown to Money Island. After reading some of the stories here, I guess I got lucky. Someone told me I needed money (lindens) to buy stuff and this is the place to do it. Everyone in the place looked like me, yep... purple top, jeans, gothic runners and NOOB hair. I fit right in!
Back then, most people that were camping were actually at the keyboard. I remember there was only 3 dance pads back then and a large waiting area in the bank. I wish I could remember what the rate was back then?? I remember that the rate on the dance pads was higher than the rate in the waiting area. Anyways, the trick was to wait and then snag the dance pad when they left. It was a huge gap feast with all the other campers. Shots fired, random sounds of god knows what.... I can't remember?? Everyone typing all at once and I was having a hard time following the conversations. I made my first friend there, I don't think we talked after that night, I dont remember seeing him anymore!! I was wearing the orange spinning ball as a "job" (/me laughts to herself) or sometimes the Money Island Afflicate hat. I still have them both in the inventory... Anyways, its interesting how things happen. I made my home there and got to know the regulars and the owners. Good people and were really interested in helping. I found out later on that the co-owner of the island was only 1 month older than I was. My home is still there and I help out now. There are freebies on the island now and I set them up. Good memories, thanks for letting me remember. JulieAnne |

Voodoo Club, where i got a job within the hour as a dancer..
and as Claire said.."the rest is history..."_____________________
There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

Okay, I finally do remember, sort of. I don't know the name of the place, but it was some kind of Info Hub. There was a long quay surrounded by deserted land set to 'build'. Along the quay were many rotating SL Hands and benches. I could see planes and huge uncompleted builds in the distance, and there was a group of people nearby using all the sound gestures. It was my home for a little while, but I tried to avoid it.
Anyone know what this place is called? Imnotgoing? _____________________

At my Aunt's house when I was 19...He said I wasn't mature enough because I didn't go to his church...wait...you didn't mean RL... >.<
Right! Ummm, it was some place with lots of snow, but I can't remember the name. Strangely enough, it was really dead. I think all of one other avatar ended up in the sim, but it was nice because I had the chance to try movement out and so forth without being orbited or caged. And no dirty pick ups either. _____________________

Good ol' Ahern...I think I spent all of 3 minutes there, before heading out to explore...
Wandered the area, somehow ended up in the middle of a castle (I now know it happened due to a bad sim crossing) and therein stumbled upon a BDSM scene with some slave bound and bent over, a mistress hovering over her, and a couple people watching...I was so embarrassed, I opened the map, hit a random point, and TP'd... So, now knowing what sort of interesting times could be had in SL, I went searching for First Land (it existed then) to set up my very own den of iniquity...the rest is history... _____________________

thinking about it...I may have manged to actually get to Help Island before being hijacked. I remember lots of big bilboards telling you how to build and everything, and a freebie shop with textures and houses and clothes etc. There were houses on there, and I sat in one of the balcony chairs, and tried to figure how to move my camera lol. Someone set of a red particle smoke bomb and a randomer sat with me for about 15minutes while I sorted my self out - he didnt say a word lol.
I actually experienced my first random friend offer from a second steve look-a-like. I accepted because I didnt have a clue what it was lol. He's still on the list, just haven't spoken to him since then lol. _____________________

No idea, but when the sim rezzed around me, there was a girl standing right in front of me wearing very nice fetishwear. Her group tag (I didn't know about groups at that point, so I thought it was an advertisement) listed "Bondage Playground". So I got an LM from her and went to investigate...
Decidedly more interesting than driving those little cars on orientation island... _____________________

I went to a Help Island right after OI, went through all those stations while wearing a huge mooing cow on my head (lots of not-very-nice-people there, too), learned about search, and can't remember from there.
I don't think I've ever even been to Ahern or Waterhead. I should go check it out tonight. ![]() _____________________

Ahern... I found out what lag was like, that things take time to rez, and that people get pissed when you plow into them... all within like 2 minutes. Soon as things rezzed and I got out of the way I discovered there's tons of other noobs that look just like me. I think it was then that my obsession with NOT looking like other people was hatched... not to mention a really bad shopping habit

Dumped?
I entered Second Life for a meeting of people that had created a community on another website. I do not recall if I even spent 5 seconds on OI. I entered, looked for the meeting location, and teleported over to it. Bookmooch (the website was actually LibraryThing, we were using Bookmooch's land for the meeting). I tended to log in there for a while. I distinctly remembering a lot of people talking about how dark it was that first meeting, and how people started pulling the torch out of inventory and holding it up. Eventually someone said to "force the sun." I sat there waiting for someone to "force the sun" but no one did. Eventually I forced the sun and I was pleased with myself. I had given everyone light. Only later did I realize that lighting was only the same if everyone was using the region settings and not changing them to something else. I only later learned that I had not forced the sun for everyone. _____________________
