Back to the egg nog though, I do remember a traditional recipe from Dorset for mulling cider for Christmas that involved egg yolks - this nog of which you speak sounds very simillar.
You, such a cook, you must be kidding. No homemade eggnog for you? Cider, bah! Eggnog, whipped to a slight froth, creamy and not too cold, with some ... oh ... B&B or Fra Angelico or Rum ... snow falling outside ... fire curling around the logs ...

Suddenly, amazingly, I miss the Northeast! The whole place is really just one big Christmas orgasm in December.

And yes, many people have ham. Tho most of them do not ... fondle it.

You Sir, have been missing a good holiday beverage.

From: Wiki
Eggnog, or a very similar drink, may have originated in East Anglia, England.

As for the riff-raff, I can think of one fine example.. frequents Midian often. :D

I'll try to make the SRMO, sounds like fun!

Morning all!!!

So, having just caught up with the thread it looks as though I'm in charge of the party which will now officially be known as:

"The Great Big Hangout Winter Party" (TGBHWP)

I propose the date of Saturday December 22nd? We could run the party from 4am PST (which I think is noon GMT?) right through until everybody falls asleep which should hopefully be somebody from the West Coast of the USA.

We will need DJ's to run from 11am PST (7pm GMT) right through I reckon. Probably not the same person.

We will also need loads of mini sausage rolls, a giant trifle and a huge bowl of punch.

What do you all think so far????

I can't run SL on my laptop - but for this, I will get out my old laptop with the Intel graphics card and tolerate crazy textures!

Sausage rolls = Pigs in blankets by the way Americans.

Plus ham. We will need ham.

Pigs in blankets = mini sausages wrapped in bacon, n'est pas?

I originally meant the party snack type that you may see advertised by Kerri Katona in an Iceland advert. But you're right, pigs in blankets are better.

Sounds good sandy :) Just please don't move the date. If you set it up for the 21st I shall have to find you and do unspeakable things to you with my mystitool weapons... the 21st is my works party so I shall be too shamelessly drunk to even turn the puter on, never mind to actually work Second Life;)
I can make Mulled Wine and Wassail and stuff. It might be hard to actually get it into Second life though....my PC doesn't do well with liquids. Though i think it might have got used to the coffe spraying...:p

P.s. I really don't like eggnog but I have a loverly recipe for it, if i can dig it out from my recipe box.

You have a recipe box?

Thats cool! Is it wooden and carved with pictures of fruit? Does it smell of cinnamon? In the bottom of it are there loose birthday cake candles? Has it been handed down through your family?

I need a recipe box.

And recipes.

I've heard of it on American tv, but it just seemed that a drink containing eggs couldn't possibly be a good thing.
Absolutely!! whoever wants to *drink* eggs? bleurg!

I alas, shall be AFK from 21st till I don't know when. I've informed Sandy he's got the entire thing to organise without me ;)

I *may* look in for the odd moment whilst Morgaine is washing up/walking the dog/washing the car/cooking the dinner .. you know .. girlie stuff!

Claire! Mulled Wine yeayyyyy!!!!

Yes thanks great mate. Your invaluable experience would have been appreciated but I suppose this is how you train your understudies? In at the deep end? "Go Sandy, you're free. Run away now. Go. Don't look back" :)

Mulled Wine is the greatest invention in the world but is essential you have the right glass. I would favour a thick glass with a handle. Like an Irish Coffee type glass.

Yes I do. It was given to me by my Grandma as I kept losing all of my recipes and she didn't use hers anymore. It is just an old oxo type tin which she had. My cousins have decorated it though with splats of paint. It doesn't have candles but does smell of cinnamon (I spilt some in it while making wassail) and icludes my fave recipe of bacon pudding ;)

Mulled wine is really the only time I will drink wine, and yes Sandy, the glass does matter. I have special ones which look kinda like this:

I even put the cinnamon stick in lol. Though my wine is darker than that pic.

This may be my last day on the forums for nearly a week :( Im off on my sorta jollies. I am going to try to make it to the party tomorrow though. I have even created my own costume fot it. Its rubbish and badly made but hey, its a costume.

Oh of course!!! Claire Silverspar and the bacon pudding!!

And yes thats the mulled wine glass of which I speak.

Is it a big no no to buy a bottle of 'Mulled Wine' from Tesco? Does one have to fiddle about with spices and all that?

Each to their own Sandy. i personally prefer to make my own but I don't see anything wrong with buying it. And no if it says Mulled on the bottle you wouldn't have to fiddle around with spices lol. Just warm it up. You can buy sachets of spices and things to put in the wine if you want. Just buy a normal bottle of red wine, stick it in a pan with the sachet, cook it up and you have easy peasy mulled wine.
I like messing around with the recipe though so that is why I make my own.

I noticed your title and sig line. What do you consult at? Anything? I think maybe you should get together with our resident Kangaroo and Evil Overlord, Tegg Bode...he has a great Economy Signature for sale, but I think he needs a marketing consultant to really make it a hit product.

You could be each other's client. :)
