/me was going to offer a suggestion, but seeing as how this thread wandered away from the OP request .... I'm not sure if mentioning Giggles Beach and Club Tera as kid-friendly would even matter.

It's not uncommon to run across "ikklespeak" or baby-talk amongst some kid avvies. You'll find it at varying levels, though from more extreme "I'm sowwy I tawk wike dis!" is not really that common. Some will use some inflections in their speech (I use some now an then too, but usually jes things like dropped letters or stuff), while others don't change speech patterns at all. Most who have been around kid spaces for a period of time do indeed try to be "accurate" as much as one can in this world, rather than being a caricature. Thanks, Marianne. I appreciate your response. I've seen in your posts that you kind of "soften" your own speech pattern, and I saw another post in this thread with a little of that. However, I'd never seen an example quite as extreme as the one I quoted, and I've never heard a real child speak like that. I was curious as to whether some degree of accuracy was desired or what. |

I suspect that, for some, speaking in ikklespeak if part of how they connect with their character. At least that's how I am. Some prefer to post snarky parentheticals as part of their character or whatever too. ![]() Ultimately -- like much of SL -- it is more of a "do what you want to do" environment. When I think back on recent time at Camp HardKnock there were 1-2 who used some ikklespeak, though not as severe as what you commented on, many who spoke more in my range (some softerning, etc.), and many who did not modify their speech patterns except for, perhaps, avoiding clearly adult words (in this case, referring not purely to swear words, but also to more advanced words). No "one size fits all," but fairly clear that folks preferred to remain at least fairly legible. Discounting my typos, of course. ![]() _____________________

By all means. FWIW, I'd rather talk those than worry about the other war or words that I'm assuming is going on here. ![]() _____________________
