Maybe the person was being hyperbolic. I'd say it's at least highly irresponsible, as well as being against TOS. I assume those parents can read.

RL Children are not permitted on this grid yet. And when they come it will probably be limited to children over 13 years of age.

Actually, the OP was not talking about child AVs. Instead, real children accessing SL under the permission of their parents. Which is highly and clearly against the TOS/CS. (^_^)

It became a child AV thread when someone injected their invented reality into the discussion. (=_=)

Read the original note again. All it said about the content involved was that the kids "love the dressing up part". It doesn't say anything about whether or not they're supervised, where they're allowed to go, what they're allowed to see. If they're three years old, even if they can read (which, if it's the case, says their parents should be praised), they can't read or comprehend at a level that could be that sort of harassment. What are they going to do, cry "Daddy, the mean man filled the screen with words I don't know?" Or "Mommy, what are 'etchings'"?

I don't mean to pick on your specifically, but whenever this subject comes up, people routinely jump to conclusions that go way beyond what was said. It's gotten to the point where it's impossible to have a reasonable discussion about practical ideas to protect kids and/or adults. Inevitably people make assumptions or jump to conclusions about what was said or done, exaggerate the risk, mix up RL vs SL kids, raise irrelevant non-SL issues, demonstrate ignorance of law, LL policy, or SL technology, or otherwise allow their sensitivity to this issue to preempt clear thinking.

So please, please, take a breath and slow down. The issue you are raising is valid, but we also believe in innocent until proven guilty, actual evidence and not hearsay, facts and not possibilities. Raise the question, but don't jump right to the guilty part, ignoring the facts or lack thereof.

You didn't say how old your child avatar is. I assume you mean a little kid.

In any case, I'll look through my LMs when I get inworld and post them - they are more for teenagers.

For once you and I are in total agreement Argent.

A lot of people don't -think- I'm in character, but I actually am, all the time, even on the forum. They just don't realize that my inner child is Ender Wiggin.
