I agree. There are to many unhelpful posts. I think some just post to see their total number of posts grow.

You are correct, Ann. For legitimate questions where people are actually seeking answers, there is no such sniping. But where people are campaigning for one thing or another, human nature takes its course.

from what I've seen, legitimate questions get answered before threads are derailed, if there is an answer anyone can find at all... I like the rest of it honestly.. keeps me entertained

most questions are answered fairly promptly, before spinning off into oblivion. considering some of our best derailers are also our most knowledgeable, *except for me*, it's pretty much a 2 for 1 sale, talk about value adding.

It is true. The tone of the forums has again shifted from lighthearted banter a few weeks ago to nasty sniping. Some of us are crossing the line into meanness and bitchery too often. RA is either on its way to being shut down or to heavy moderation. Hopefully Strife will get some assistance soon because it is time to rein people in. A little foolishness is one thing, the number of times we are collectively crossing the line into personal attacks and petty digs is not good for the health of this community.

Okay I thought that was funny, but for the record, not ONE of the people who's been an asshat here lately was an SC regular. Most of those folks just moved to other 3rd party forums.

Why have I failed to notice this new nastiness? Perhaps because the forum is still very tame by general internet standards? Or perhaps I'm skipping the right threads?

well.. the main example of the nastiness that comes to mind right now is the Chaos from last week... but even in my short stay here I can tell alot of forum regulars are here to help while having fun, but then there are too many people who just come here and seem to get pissed way too easily (Only reason I know they arent regulars is post count..)

I had a stuffed animal as I was growing up that smelled like chocolate. Made it into my adulthood uneaten (barely). I do not recall where it went now, though. I think one of my cats might have eaten my bear

No, it has gotten nastier. There was at least the attempt to be humorous, when slinging barbs. no all we are doing is saying Fuck You to each other, just with more words. every difference of opinion is now taken as a personal offront and we are being offended just for the sake of being offended it seems. I've wondered about some of the names that have gone missing lately, posters who were fun to read, who could answer a serious question just as easily as get silly. I've been lurking a bit at "That other board" and they are turning up there. I also did some re reading of some of the Historic threads, Engkish Nanny, the original Panty Auction thread, the threads from "you know who " who was ignoring us all for our insolence, and others. I was crying from laughing so hard. A lot of that has gone from this place. I don't know if we've become too jaded, full of ourselves, or just plain cranky.

That danged stuff makes me NUTS!!! I'm a grown man. I exercise, eat right, keep the alcohol under control, don't smoke. Why can't I walk by a bowl of Halloween candy without stuffing handfuls of those mini candy bars in my face!? What evil sway do they hold over me? It's like I'm possessed by chocolate demons. Peanut M&M's, mini Snickers Bars, and those damned Nerds! (Not Sarah Nerd, Raymond, calm down).
