Anyway.. anyone know know a decent avenue for trying to get that first category altered? Who should I pester?
I dunno. I'm pretty sure it's generally known that when LL says "ageplay" they're talking about the sex stuff, not normal kid stuff.

Nope, there are lots and lots of people who - when they see kid avatars - react with "hey, kid avatars are not allowed!". An AR category "ageplay" will make that even worse. |

I don't think it will change much, if at all. Such people now have a more specific category to use when they AR, sure - but those people would be ARing anyway, whether that specific category was there or not.

Someone brought that up at the governance office hour: since all their policy refers to "ageplay" it's staying the way it is to not cause confusion with stated policy and ARs against "kids being kids" aren't all that numerous apparantly (paraphrased). That was me who brought it up. I wasn't entirely satisfied with the answer. :-/ _____________________

That was me who brought it up. I wasn't entirely satisfied with the answer. :-/ Yes, not at all satisfying. "Yes, we know, in the short documentation of your car is a point that is not totally clear and could make your care blow up. Overall, I like it. I know that Age Play category is gonna cause me a heap of trouble from people not understanding what is meant by it. :-/ Yes, can see it causing a massive headache for child avatars in Second Life and more education again. Annoying after the kids5b stuff too, which generated a lot of awareness. One step forward, 2 steps back ... |

One step forward, 2 steps back ... Yup. While the GTeam did say they do not get a lot of ageplay ARs of non sexual child avatars, I can still see people doing more given there will be a category. I try to look at things before they go wrong, ya see.  Probably Whump Linden. Preview OH is 1:30 SLT on Wednesdays. Whump? I'd kinda doubt it. He's focused on the Open Grid Public Beta. My thoughts would tend to Keep on the GTeam about it. Maybe also Robin's hours. Oddly enough, I don't know of any office hours right now focusing on the viewer, only the server an other back-end stuff. _____________________
