World War in SL is inevitable!!!!!!!

Well, I was reminded while watching a TV show on the world wars and it came to me that the SL groups are setting their selves up for one. With all the big armies like SBS, Interpol, the Merczateers, and some other ones that I cannot remember right now and a bunch of other smaller groups and armed forces making all sorts of alliances with each other, that is exactly how the world war started. what if one group plots to take out another group, the other group's leaders are being shot at, they call for backup, that backup group is also getting shot at, they call all their back up, then those people call their backup, and so on and so fourth until all of the armies and armed forces of SL are fighting each other. JUST LIKE WWI lol. The master scripters of the group will get developed newer and newer weapons for their armies' and more people will be getting blasted up into the air and killed until one side has had enough or has exhausted all its recourses. Or they can strike an armistice (hey that’s a last name in second life! ) to end the fighting. Just a thought..... But imagine it...... a giant world war, I wander what it would be called! it is really is an inevitable fate for SL unless it banns weapons, but then without weapons SL will get really boring and dull I wonder where it would be held...

If there's no resources or anything is it actually a war? Or is it just a load of people shooting at each other?

I have to disagree. I normally only have weapons as an accessory to my outfits. As for these so called wars.....I don't think I've run into them.

i have a lot now, and without weapons... its like baseball or basketball. we don;t really NEED them but they are nice to have and fun to do and they take some of our annyoing time away! So I have to totaly disagree with you on that one...

"World War I" was actually not the first world war (the British Empire ran one or two before that), but it was the first war that was meant to end war itself. Obviously it failed in its goal.

A "grid war" would probably be more like Tron and probably involve some form of griefer attack.

has nothing really to do with what i am saying, i a talking about a mass world war, not just some war involving one group or two groups or someone orming an army, i am talking about all the alliances of SL fighting eachohter because of such alliances. Not some griefers that are keeping ppl out of a sim

I sincerely hope you're joking. What on earth leads you to believe that:

a) all the communities would find reason to go to "war" with each other, and
b) the Lindens would allow such a thing to happen?

ignoring the one up there above yours, as i usually ignore posts i don't really think are serious. Better armor up and prepare for the inevitable!

I think tre's just talking about the different factions of FPSers or whatever they're called here (they've lots of these factions apparently, I seem to get asked to join one or another every time I visit a sandbox), obviously everyone else has no intention of having a war.

Actually I've been preparing for the last year or so to do exactly what this thread seems to think might happen...
