This might be just a statistical outlier, but is a 100% growth in just two months. On an annualized basis, that is 2.600 million USD dollars worth of content sold.
Who do YOU think is getting rich in SL?
Keep this growth up for the next year and in one year on an annualized basis, we'll have 173, 056 USD million worth of content sold in SL.
Ok, that's a little fantastic, but HELL I thought 52K in one WEEK was fantastic.
And that doesn't include all the other data..

Slow?
This is absolutely freaking INCREDIBLE news. Gaddzooks.
Do The Math.
Anshe is making 100K per year - that's nothing compared to what's really happening.
Our economy is selling 2.5 million dollars worth of content on an annualized basis. And that's not including SLExchange / SLBoutique (I think, unless that accounts for the big jump).
That's all PURE PROFIT. This is intellectual capital people are selling. ZERO COST of goods sold.
This money is going straight into residents pockets.

Well, I sell content, so I do fully believe these numbers, yes.
I can easily compare how much content I'm selling versus how much I've seen in the catalogues of SLB and SLX, plus I can see what's showing up in popular versus my content.
I know how much money I make and I have a pretty good idea what percentile I'm in.
It's not too hard to figure out that a lot of money is being made on content.

This is absolutely freaking INCREDIBLE news. Gaddzooks. Only if that kinda news gives you a hardon. To me, it's boring non-news! Incidentally, you should really think out your posts in advance too. That's like 3 times you've edited it since I first posted. Tip: Engage brain before mouth/fingers. That way you only hafta type it the once and generally come off so much less stoopid; ya know, like you'd actually thought out something you wanted to say? It's also irritating, because the post I replied to was nothing like the one that's there now, and then you respond to me as if I've dismissed a whole bunch of stuff that wasnt there when I replied. But then that's the sort of thing we've come to expect from you, isnt it? But then it's not like you have any credibility anyway since you insist on hiding behind alts you play off against one another with intent to incite and then gleefully boast about it. All of which makes me wonder why I even bother to troll your threads at all. Pfft.

One must consider what time of the year it is as well, all the regular swings of the market one sees in the 1st Life seem fully enacted in the 2nd Life.
Yes I've seen a dramatic upswing in my sales in the past few weeks but oh my goodness, it's been a long haul since the 2nd week of January, when sales slowed. I know many would look to the economic changes, stipend etc. but I suspect that some percentage of change would have been seen in sales regardless.
Last year at this time I was just getting my footing in SL but I recall hearing folks talking about the same kinda upswing in sales and how the winter/spring sales doldrums were over. If the SL markets will follow the same model as 1st, then we'll get a spike at about Halloween (end of October) and growing steadily but slowly, with another sharper spike at Thanksgiving (last week in November) through the 1st week or so of January. And then the drought, etc. all over again.
The majority of the SL population is still made up of folks from the U.S. and our buying/spending patterns are darn predictable. It seems that once we open our wallet for one thing, it's easier to get another, hence the spikes (yes the holidays but this contributes).
We've just had two major population building promotions, it's summer, more folks are available to be IN SL than earlier, so they're getting established or catching up on their shopping. All pretty reasonable components to a sales upswing.
I'm all for it, btw!

Right. Working 3 months on an avatar, staying up till 4am, thats just... free! Me and my golden time machine, haha, tis such a wonderful device! You might have seen it featured in 'Napoleon Dynamite'. My design! Indeed! And the fact that I have teams of unpaid orphans doing texturing work sure does help as well. These creations, you know, we just toss them together, my good man. Nary a drop in the bucket; far be it from me to be distracted -too- very long from sailboat races and golfing in the Hamptons! Everyone knows that us content creators don't put forth any real effort. Slap a few prims together, ah, write a little doolally of a script and off you go! Oh and you know, tier doesn't cost anything... See, I'm FIC, I don't pay anything for my 2 sims. I get that for free, completely free and clear, because I "joined in 2003". Hell, they said I could have 8, but I just said, "Pshaw, good fellow! Who _would_ mow the acerage? I'd have to hire at -least- twelve immigrants for that!" I then laughed haughtily and threw back a Cosmopolitan. I also get a complimentary bum polishing twice a week from Concierge. It includes candy. Please excuse me, I have to go observe my manservant Jamison wax the Bentley that I bought purely with L$ gained by stepping on the wretched spines of newbies. Chortle and guffaw, I do say! Tut tut!

Must be, to have a Bentley in SL would be a violation of TOS! Oh, but yer FIC so that doesn't matter? LOL
It's all pixels, or paper or just MTV or just a painting or just advertising or just numbers in a column.
When will folks stop diminishing the efforts of others?
Ok, I'm not willing to wait for human evolution to take the next step (or 12) but I sure am willing to work more on stuff in SL and enjoy the fruits of others' labors in exchange for some of those "not quite valuable according to some" Lindens, you betcha!

From: blaze Spinnaker And that's not including SLExchange / SLBoutique (I think, unless that accounts for the big jump). SL Exchange does not report its sales figures to Linden Lab so unless they have started tracking deposits and withdrawals at our terminals as object sales (which would be a very skewed report indeed), I doubt that is the reason for it. I think it is more a result of the promotions Linden Lab has been doing. On another note, SL Exchange has also experienced a very large surge in sales recently so it appears that this is an across-the-board phenomenon and not just a data abnormality.

But I do dislike you. Why? Because you are snotty to people and because you do not reply to inquiries sent to you that you requested, and because you use dishonest tactics and actively malicious methods to inflate and aggrandize yourself at the expense of others. I couldn't possibly care less what you make. In my opinion, you are a cruel and thoughtless individual and for that and that alone, I dislike you.
