I generally don't butt in too much to where other people are attacking others, but if you'd like, I'll start pointing out you attacking other people as well. Perhaps you simply don't realize how hostile you can be here.

If it floats your boat, please do.

From: Hiro Pendragon
consistent
One entry found for consistent.
Main Entry: con·sis·tent
Function: adjective
1 archaic : possessing firmness or coherence
2 a : marked by harmony, regularity, or steady continuity : free from variation or contradiction <a consistent style in painting> b : COMPATIBLE -- usually used with with c : showing steady conformity to character, profession, belief, or custom <a consistent patriot>
3 : tending to be arbitrarily close to the true value of the parameter estimated as the sample becomes large <a consistent statistical estimator>
- con·sis·tent·ly /-lE/ adverb

Seems to me Webster disagrees with your definition. Consistent means that it's done all the time, not that it's done often.

But it's moot, my original point stands.

I just love it when people start quoting dictionary entries. It gets me soooo hot! But nothing in that description actually describes the word as meaning "all the time" though, so your point is moot, my original point stands. Regularity and steady continuity seems particularly apt though, thanks for highlighting them! I guess the nuance of meaning is lost on you in this instance. But that's fine, language can be subjective at the best of times.

From: Hiro Pendragon
Oh, you post in the right place, alright; you simply post innappropriate attacks. I think the fact that you don't start many threads is evidence that you are more of a troller than topic-starter.

I guess you find it quite difficult to see the validity of posters who don't start lots of new threads then? That again would explain why you start so many! You know, not everybody feels the need to start thread after thread after thread and prefer to comment on what other people are saying. Sure, you'll find some attacks by me, as we would from you and from many other posters on this board. You'll find plenty aimed at you and your arrogance from me, I make no attempt to even pretend that that's not the case. But you'll also find that the vast majority of my posts don't troll or attack (mind you recently, having a contrary opinion is considered an attack by some people). But again, please compartmentalise me if it makes it easier for you to dismiss me.

From: Hiro Pendragon
It got moved because I reported an attack from a reply on that thread, and it was moved pending review - *not* because it was in the wrong forum.

*buzzer* I'm sorry that's incorrect. The ResMod said:

"moved to the resmods forum. and going for Linden Review do to one of the post has Personal attack."

It was moved to the correct forum. The AR got it flagged for Linden review. And, guess what? Nobody edited my comments on that thread so they musn't have thought it was much of an attack. ;) That's the same thread where you backed out of your original "I'm going to phone LL if this gets moved" bluster as well :)

From: Hiro Pendragon
So far you've avoided actually addressing my original ideas. As I've said - rules aren't applied post-facto, so that means you don't really have a right to complain about what I'd *hypothetically* do under a *hypothetical* new set of rules when none of it has happened yet.

Your original ideas are totally unworkable. It would require changes to the software - something that LL aren't willing to do to a third-party system as they've said in the past. And if you stop people posting new threads, they'll just derail other threads even more than happens now. And when people like yourself don't actually appreciate that they're posting in the wrong place, there'll be a lot of sticks in use at LL. But that leads me onto how I did address your idea in my last post:

"Maybe a better way to deal with this would be to get posters to appreciate for themselves what's the right and wrong forum for a given post. So, let's start with you eh!"

Be the change, my boy. Be the change.

Your posting is a classic example of trolling - you post provocative comments that are not in line with truth in order to attain negative reactions from other posters.

Surely this is an ad hominem attack? :p

But in any case, you are assuming I'd dispute accusations of trolling? And also assuming that I give a shit what anyone else thinks of what I think, let alone trying to recruit people to the kick Hiro bandwagon. I don't think anyone that climbs on is influenced by me. Truly.

From: someone
It is hypocritical for someone employing such tactics to say that someone else is a bad poster. I've defending my comments, and yet all you can do is try and snipe at me.

Again, you're assuming that I'd in any way claim I'm a 'good' poster or refuting any claim that I'm guilty of misbehaving here?

But still, none of this invalidates my ability to point out your hypocrisy any more than it kerbs your ability to practice it, now does it? :)

A person needs to eat regularly. That does not mean a person needs to eat continually.

Terms are subjective until you use them in debates - and an agreed upon definition must be applied. So, choose another word and another point, or move on.

Right, so it had nothing to do with where I posted it, and everything to do about the personal attack, which is what I just said.

No, the resmod clearly said they don't have the power to censor. It's still in that forum, so I have to assume it's either not been looked at or still under review. So, no.

From: someone
That's the same thread where you backed out of your original "I'm going to phone LL if this gets moved" bluster as well :)

Which you've now ignored the explanation for a third time. It's fallacy of "accident" - when the meaning of the original phrase did not anticipate an unlikely exception to the rule. Much like a person saying to another "whatever you do, don't bother me in my room", and then the second person not telling them that the house is on fire.

I didn't anticipate that resmods would be moving entire threads - rather than single posts - from abuse reports. No big deal, and though ironic, it is certainly nothing you can honestly gloat over.

From: someone
Your original ideas are totally unworkable. It would require changes to the software - something that LL aren't willing to do to a third-party system as they've said in the past.

Okay, valid criticism.

I would disagree because people are banned from the forums, so the mechanism is in place - it would just need some bookkeeping when threads are moved.

From: someone
And if you stop people posting new threads, they'll just derail other threads even more than happens now.

Not a bad point. What I suggest is a pretty hard-lined solution, but the forums are in some pretty sad shape.

I think you're getting all mixed up here. Please feel free to apply any definition you want to, I'll apply mine. Certainly, I'm not going to adhere to you as thought police as well now. What would you prefer? You post in the wrong forum as regularly as you need to use the toilet? Is that better for you?

From: someone
Right, so it had nothing to do with where I posted it, and everything to do about the personal attack, which is what I just said.

If it was in the right forum, why did it get moved? Threads tend to get locked if they go for Linden review, they don't tend to get moved unless, and here's the big point Hiro my friend, they are in the wrong forum. It was a thread about ResMods. It was moved to the ResMod forum. You just don't see it, do you?

From: someone
No, the resmod clearly said they don't have the power to censor. It's still in that forum, so I have to assume it's either not been looked at or still under review. So, no.

Find a happy place. Find a happy place. You believe what you want to believe.

Much like a person saying to another "whatever you do, don't bother me in my room", and then the second person not telling them that the house is on fire.

An exception to the rule? Ah I see, you're basing this on your opinion that is wasn't moved to the ResMods discussion forum because that's where it should be. If you're not going to see that, I'm not going to go around in circles trying to educate you further because you consistently don't wish to see the reality there.

From: someone
I didn't anticipate that resmods would be moving entire threads - rather than single posts - from abuse reports. No big deal, and though ironic, it is certainly nothing you can honestly gloat over.

What? The ResMods have been moving whole threads for a long time now. And I've seen plenty of your responses on your threads that have been moved indicating that you really do believe that your posts are pertinent to General when they have been so obviously not. That's what led you to the phone call statement - the weight of all your moved threads in a short period of time got to you. That's not me gloating, that's me saying what I saw.

From: someone
Okay, valid criticism.

I would disagree because people are banned from the forums, so the mechanism is in place - it would just need some bookkeeping when threads are moved.

Not a bad point. What I suggest is a pretty hard-lined solution, but the forums are in some pretty sad shape.

Asking LL or the ResMods to do the bookkeeping just wouldn't work as far as I can see. Unless it can be a fairly automated escalation procedure, you can't expect it to be implemented because of the extra workload it would entail.

I honestly don't see the forums as being in any worse shape now then they were 6 months ago, 1 year ago or 2 years ago.

Don't worry. Til recently I thought Ad Hominem was a step in our evolution and that a strawman was some pagan ritualistic thing.

Fortunately, the SL forums are a goldmine of dictionary links and definitions to support arguments. I learn a lot here! :D
