Stop camera repositioning in Edit mode!

Okay, say I'm standing around, with my camera all set up where I want it... but I need to edit an object... now I have a problem: as soon as I go into Edit mode, the camera is going to go off and do its own thing, and I have to spend extra effort moving it back to the position I want it to be.

I can't imagine anyone actually prefers that functionality, but assuming they do, why not make it a toggle?

Please, Lindens! Hear my plea!

I completely agree Cat. It's much worse when you edit something inside of a small space. As soon as you zoom in on an object just the way you like it, and click edit, SL shoves your camera view through a nearby wall. Getting back to my original zoom position for each edit can be so annoying and time consuming.

PLEASE make this a toggle!

I find this annoying, but there is a workaround. Hitting control-3 to get into edit mode doesn't cause the camera to move, (yay!) However i still find this annoying and would like it to change.

Also when exiting edit mode, i have not found a way to get the camera to not move, which i find even more annoying. finish editing something and you wanna look at it without all the editing highlights, hit escape and the camera flys away...

You know, every time this comes up someone mentions Ctrl+3.

I get the feeling that LL only quickly reads these threads, sees that, and thinks that's a catch-all solution, so they don't think anything needs fixed.

Let me just clarify, because this is beginning to frustrate me to no end...

CTRL+3 DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

Every time you *close* the edit window, the camera moves back to your avatar. CTRL+3 does not fix this.

Thank you.

PLEASE GOD FIX THIS

Along with the "we're a little too close to the client windo edge so let me just drag the camera along with object that you've just spent 20mins meticuously positioning" feature <GRRR>

Another thing, if you are in a tight space and you happen to be working on a window or similar area and you lock to rotate around the object you are working on the camera it tends to lock on any objects that aren't the one you are working on that happen to pop in front of the rotation cursor. Pips me the fornk off most super-majorly. My rage is almost un machable at this effect... ROAR.

Pardon my negative attitude but...

We have asked for this since almost the beginning of time(SL time that is)

For the "second" life of me I can't see why Linden Labs has been so non-responsive to this request.

Since I haven't seen it mentioned yet, I have another workaround. You know that silly set of clickable camera controls we have? The ones in View -> Camera Controls. I've found that in working in tight spaces, 3 clicks on the down arrow from the group on the right, will restore you back to about where your camera was before you clicked edit.

And I'll chim in yet again about a lack of any way to leave edit mode without your camera snapping back to over-the-shoulder. I hate that.

If I want my camera to reset, I'll hit friggin' ESC, right?

:P

Yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes!

Taking away control of my POV is rude. Shifting my POV up through the ceiling so that I can no longer see the object I was trying to edit is both rude and stupid.

This is not a matter of poor implementation or a need for fine-tuning; this feature should be removed entirely. The system should never override the user's control of the camera.

(And this applies not just to the object editor, but also the land editor and Appearance mode.)

I personally have taken my frustrations out on a mouse because of this feature. Poor thing.

For the sake of all mice out there, please fix this. Don't mess with our camera angles when we switch to edit mode.

(Edit: I meant my computer mouse. :))

The thing I don't understand about this is it looks like they needed extra code to do this. It is clear LL doesn't have a problem leaving the camera alone when you enter edit mode since alt-3 works. It seems like they thought it would be a good feature to snap you into view the world mode when you are done editing and added the code to do it. But never realized it was a really bad idea and got around to taking the code out.

it might be futile to agree, since it seems this has been a long time request, but i'm having the same frustration with the camera angles in edit mode, etc.

and i don't know if it would be more trouble, but i also would like the camera not to revert back when i move my avatar in world. i'd like to move around at a certain perspective so i can see the store signs and what not. there should be some way to set things up to keep the camera either on "default SL" mode or in our "user-preferred" mode.

...this topic has been requested time and time again. Don't hold your breath.

Don't make it a toggle -- just REMOVE the freaking auto-camera-FUBAR routines when editing.

WHEN will the lindens EVER listen to this, we've been saying this for ever !!!

Every version update i think why why isnt this fixed yet, along with multiple drag and drop move files in Inventory.. two of the most time wasting things in SL yet we get tons of new gimmicky script features but never these simple things..

PLEASE sort this out, I spent hours wasting time on these two items
