Complaining about something that might exist is pretty legitimate given the propensity for oldbies and FIC to get the Lindens ear and Lindens support for just about anything, even little huggy bearz.

Those two statements aren't compatable. Something that is chump change is not "real serious" money.

Not to mention the big burnish of your rep you get, and the increased traffic that existing traffic always brings you FOR SALES of all that artfully placed merchandising which is only a landmark away now from Newbie Island. Blah. It's so obvious. And you are just dancing around it.

Once again, we get down to the fact that despite all your claims, you seem to be anti-capitalist. I'm unable to reconcile that view with your others... You like capitalism, but you don't like anything ABOUT capitalism. I wonder if capitalism is really the word you're looking for.

I like liberal market economies with the maxim free flow of goods, services, and information, sure.

What this describes, however, is the medieval guild where one guild sells to the other, and the serfs move helplessly around from one guild to another without choice, diversity, and freedom to re-sell.

BTW, you are not getting something about the dwellopers' incentives. They are cash awards. These cash awards in US dollars come in csah separate from the dwell coming into your account each week in Linden dollars. Or did you not know that already. So if you did, why were you arguing with me?

I wouldn't worry if you "stole" them from me. I do worry if you sway the Lindens to throw business to you. I will weigh in loud and clear on that. It's not fair.
...

This is so sweet - you preaching about honesty and fairness! So, so sweet!

It's still complaining about something that doesn't exist, Prok. If you wanna do it, fine, but it's a tiny step up from mindless, baseless attacks. I used to think you were better than that.

Ok, so, in other words, you like a controlled market. You want a higher power to ensure equal distribution of exposure, to break up the natural evolution of a capitalist market, and to protect those that aren't otherwise able to make it on their own.

That's fine, but that is not really capitalism. It is to real capitalism what lazer tag is to painball. It's capitalism for those who can't handle real capitalism for one reason or another. It's a blend of many philosophies, and is not compatible with 'pure' capitalism, where the market is free to evolve in whatever ways it does, including all the fun things like monopolies. Real capitalism is cutthroat, viscious, dog-eat-dog and utterly amoral.

Your belief that the non-content-creaters are 'helpless serfs' is insulting.

Your belief that there is no choice and diversity in SL is so laughable it's not worth debating.

Freedom to re-sell is fine. It leads to exploitation, but it's fine. Except that lacking a judicial branch to enforce contracts, it is the only security a content creator can have.

I am argueing with you because I disagree with you. Isn't that obvious?

Of course dwell and DI are different things. But both have real-world value, first of all. And I maintain it is still not a serious reward... Unless you are damn lucky, and I mean DAMN lucky, you are still not going to even break even on an island from it, from what I've seen of the payouts. They split around 4000 dollars (last I checked, it varries) with a whole ton of people. Individualy, you don't get a whole lot, unless your pretty high on the list. Then you might break even. Of course, you have probably sunk a TON of time into the project, not to mention (if it's an island, as in this case) the huge downpayment on an island, and all the months you DIDN'T break even as you got it on it's feet, and then the months after where you don't because it's fallen out of popularity again.

But if you do, more power to you. You've managed to make something successful. How is that bad? It's capitalism!

Oh, wait. We covered that.

What should such fellows as I do crawling between earth and heaven? We are arrant knaves, all; believe none of us.
