Ok first let me say hubby and I have been laughing our ASSES off at these replies......too funny U guys.
Now I must confess I just bought some 'lag bomb hair' for quite a bit of $L. It's beautiful....the long curls and all. In my defense I had ZERO clue how it lagged myself those around me 'til after I tried it on. I'm gonna have to go see how many 'prims' it is 'cuz I haven't a clue. Being a regular Tringo and Bingo player, this was the worst hair I coulda bought. needless to say U won't be seeing me in all my glorious curls at Tringo or probably anywhere else. Ah well we live and learn.

Holy Cats! I thought it was just me.

I feared it was just my issue. The constant flashing is extremely bothersome on my eyes and usually will cause a headache if I am exposed to it for very long. (Hence my avoidence of clubs, triango and anything titled “xxx”)
That not withstanding, there are some excellent pieces of jewelry out there that have a “bling” on/off option-for example the Cupid’s Kiss line by Angel Maracas and Bacio Peregrine. I appreciate that they allow me to decided if I want to “sparkle.”
Btw, what EXACTLY is hoochie hair? I have some hair that is more than a few prim but how does one define hoochie hair? Where can hoochie hair be purchased? These are the questions that I ponder late at night.

These are the questions that I ponder late at night. Hoochie hair is what we call any hair that lags everyone around you to death. the first sign of hoochie hair is not being able to attach it all in one spot.. this means that they've exceeded the linkable prim limit... Usually this can be found in the many varieties of 'curly hair' I've seen some done well, maybe a few tendrils here and there, (Lost Thereian's "fancy hair") is a great example.. and I've seen a LOT that are terrible, twice as wide as the AV's head and requires me to either focus my camera OFF of the offending party, or turn objects off all together (in cases where I'm in a club type environment) I just think that kind of stuff is really inconsiderate of other people... I mean yes, I can turn particles off for the 'bling' problem, but turning off objects really disrupts my activities most of the time! go to a club sometime, scan the room, whoever your computer 'locks up' on is likely wearing hoochie hair :)

Dear lord, lock me up. lol. I do believe I am the owner of said hoochie hair. Thus explains my now constant 4% packet loss. Is there a group meeting for hoochie hair addicts? If so would it be at the hair salon? Thanks for the clairification.

New Directive: If their hair is slowing down the sim, send them into another one.
How you do that is not for me to discuss.

Well since we are on the subject of bling bling, and curly hair, i figured i would post on this subject to express my view of lag. I wear a prim necklace that has a sparkle effect to it (Not the BlingBling your thinking) and a couple of hair pieces.
I also build and have noticed a difference with lag. When you first start to build on a piece of land with nothing, everything rezzes pretty quickly, but once you get close to filling your land with prims it takes alot longer to rez, and most people i have noticed, use all their prims so the objects is maxed out. So if you leave some extra prims, you wont lag asmuch. If you max out your objects, it will take longer to rez, and the more people there with the bling and hair, takes even longer.
When i first started which was around september, I didnt nearly lag as much as I do now. I havent really changed my avatar that much, except for a skin. And everyday the Lag gets worse. Its not just the bling and the hair. Its particles everywhere you go, Its scripts running in the sim and on avatars, and the trees, believe me or not hehe...
I have noticed the past couple of months that the lag has gotten worse, and that may be because of live chat being introduced to the game. Have you ever tried to watch a movie or video file with a dial up modem? Takes forever to load just like going anywhere in SL with a cable modem. Its just not one sim or a piece of land that is being affected, it is the whole game in general. If you dont believe me try to port to a few different telehubs, you will have to relog before not too long. To save SL something needs to be done about these things.
For Another Example... You have a video game on your computer that uses a decent amount of graphics. Ok, now before you start the game, put in a dvd movie, start winamp up, and then start your game. You will have more lag than you could ever ask for... without even going online. And then if you could add live chat, it would probably lock up the game you was running.
I think SL can get by with music without creating much lag, it did well when i first started and was nice to listen to music while you play. But with video and live chat, one thing or another will have to go, or we will be stuck in the LagAge.
Prims+Scripts+Audio+Video+LiveChat = MORE LAG THEN EVER

I don't mind a little bling...like the the jewelry that just has enough to draw your attention to that little ring on the finger. But the ones that flash all over the place, that is just annoying. Also, it would be great to see those bling jewelry have a on/off command. That way the person wearing it can turn it off when they are outside a club or if a friend kindly asks them to turn it off so they don't go blind. Great Thread Torrid Huggerz, MJ

I'd like to see things improve - and off the cuff I'd throw a suggestion out that I really don't know if people would like:
We know from communique with LL (on these very forums) that there are a significant number of bugs and issues being addressed nigh constantly - that and that LL are trying to improve upon the system (which has dramatically grown since 1.0)..
How would people react to a feature freeze - and have problems addressed - *IF* (and it's a big IF) a significant percentage of the dev team were to work on 'Second Life 2'?
All things being equal and re-writes being good for the soul - could you imagine there being an improvement if all the learning experience thus far gathered was concentrated in such a way?
All this is just pie-in-the-sky thinking, but I'd be curious to see who'd like/hate the idea.
Siggy.

From: Beryl Greenacre I predict a future trend in SL... the "hypnobra"! Hmmm... I would've prefered this.
