MY EYES!!!!! -a slight rant and a question from Torrid Midnight

Ya ok. Add my name to the bling-hater list. Get enough of these bling-bling girls together and it starts to feel like some kind of photo-op press conferences with all the camera flashes.

I find the scripts to be rather silly. A long time ago I put something similar in a trophy I had sitting on a shelf in my house... Took it out a couple days later. It just screamed "My stuff isn't cool enough, I need particals to make it grab attention"... If your object can't draw the eye on its own, it's probably not going to be made more impressive by adding particles.

There are rare exceptions, of course. Sometimes particals are used well. But its so rare.



We try our best on Spittoonie Island, Khamon. It's PG, and relaxed, if not subdued. We've been on a "Boost FPS" crusade the last couple weeks, it's getting better slowly.

if you think bling is bad in sl it's nothing compared to how bad it's gotten irl. you think iced out thugged up blinged sideways people are bad? think all the black escalades with spinner rims are stupid? check this out. they got spinner teeth. spinner teeth. spinner teeth.

I have yet to find a (serious) walk for men, other than the default, that doesn't either come off as swaggering or prissy. Most of the women's walks however, are quite nice, especially when seen from behind.

To me, if folks have to show off using lots of bling, or swaggering, then they are probably very insecure, or give the impression of being so. But SL is a prime place for indulging fantasies and alter-egos, so more power to them.

I'm on that list too. natural bling might be ok.. like if it 'catches the light' ..meaning make the timer like once every 12 minutes
but the trend seems to be making yourself a strobe light.
That tends to hurt my eyes too-- but the hair is what locks up my computer..

It's a dirty job, but somebody had to it.

It got so bad that I started turning particles off whenever I cross paths with one of these peoples.

On one hand it saves me the trouble of going blind. On the other hand, now I can see their jewlery, or which the distressing amount they have still cause my video card to complain more then when it handles the infamous hoochie hair.

I teleported to a hub the other day and couldn't figure out why I couldn't move for about 30-45 seconds. It wasn't a hub that has a lot of builds around it. After doing a 360 to look around, that's all I could do - turn around in place, I noticed a girl avie on one of the TP pads, seemingly frozen in place. After another 15 to 20 seconds she lights up like a Christmas tree adorned with 20 or 25 blinding pulsars.

Boo on overzealous bling-bling. I agree with David that it's all about "look at me!". Something I was praying would never happen to SL. So much for that, and so much for other people being able to enjoy the environment as intended.

I suggest you guys quit participating in this thread. This thread is against the TOS by mentioning other players name you have violated community standards and the terms of service.

On the same vein of thought, something else that should be banned forever are the HUGE explosions of particles that people seem so fond of. Especially the particles that are like, 1mx1m and completely obscure my vision. I don't think ANYONE needs to shed 4000 "Hot Stuff" particles every time they come into view. It's ugly and unnecessary.

EMMA...YES TOTALLY. The particle showers are so tacky!

OMG can i tell you how much I absolutely HATE HATE HATE being in the presence of ANYONE wearing that heavily primmed torri/ring curly hair... As soon as they enter a location I watch the sim fps drop lower and lower and then I find myself with the inability to move.

I wear hair attachments all the time without causing an entire sim to lag. I've checked the total prim counts on most attachments and there are a few I bought that are heavily primmed which I never wear. I might temporarily wear them for modelling but otherwise I wouldn't inflict my lag inducing hair on anyone else...

I'll take the uber blingiest bling from all directions versus ONE person in that hideous hoochie lag causing monstrocity of hair attachments. I wouldnt mind it so much if they didnt cause sooooo much lag.

and im sorry if this offends any hootchie hair wearers out there.

Thats why I have deemed it Particle Farting or farticling for short and yes its annoying. there is nothing quite like TPing some place and having to wait 5 minutes to figure out where you are and who is there while all of the particle farting dingleberries fade from the screen.

Im afriad so Neph. I have seen it first hand and suffered the consequential blindness that ensued from a person with almost neon yellow hoochie hair and the shiny bling going on.

I so agree!! I actually like some of the tp-induced particle explosions, but hate the ones that block out all vision and take a long time to disperse. It almost seems like there is a contest for who can come up with the most annoying particle bursts.

I had a guy on my dock the other day that teleported away, and left us all blinded for quite some time. When the particles did begin to disperse, they were very lovely, but the whole effect needed to be toned down a loooong ways.

As for hoochie hair, there are many that look so good, but lag so bad. I've had to turn my back on several lovely ladies due to thier hair attachments. If I see them in my screen, I get damned laggy at times, while if they are out of sight, I'm only somewhat laggy .

prim efficiency is important... and the same is true for attachments.

bling is just stupid period.

A stupid flashing particle does not make anything look good.

it just makes it look laggy and stupid.

Same with wearing hundreds and hundreds of prims. it's annoying as heck.
