I find this thread hilarious because that's EXACTLY what I kept repeating to myself as I read the update email.

I don't like having to pay for land with real money. If there was an option for either Linden Dollar payment or US that wouldn't be as bad.
More details on things would be helpfull. "No more property taxes - ever" is missleading, because you will pay taxes... in RL dollars. Everything else sounds pretty great, although I'm a little worried about the object cap based on land owned, since more land you own means more objects you get but also more youhave to pay in RL dollars. _____________________

So far my initial reaction is why on earth did they not include "what happens to the land I currently own, and the things I have already built on it"?
And yes the pricing structure is a bit There-like, it is eerie. I do hope this works out, but the most important question has not been answered, as explained above. And I concur - holy sh*t |

arrrgh. . .
that's all I have to say. okay, it's not ![]() I'm assuming, since they are not telling us about it that everything we currently own -land/prim wise, is gonna go to our inventories and then the crazy mad land auctions. I really like that my in world worth is no longer going to be based on creativity, but rather how much money I make in real life. I need more day to day drudgery in my second life. sorry for the sarcasm. Unless I'm misunderstanding greatly, I think I'm gonna be one of the people that don't like these changes at all. Which probably means the end of my secondlife. |

Whoa this totally caught me off guard
No taxes? What about the land we currently have? I enjoy my neighbors and like my location on the map. Starting over is definetly not something I am looking forward to. $195/month for an entire Region! LOL A little out of my budget but cool they can do it that way. A raise to $25 or $40 a month for something I constantly play isn't too bad if it helps out LL but I dont want to have to compete in an auction to get land again. I waited a while to get where I am now and lucked out on finding it. I'm not sure how much I currently own as far as land size but I'm pretty sure it's not going to be covered in my 14.95 subscription. ![]() |

Lindens.... here's some questions I (and I'm betting that others will too) have for ya:
What happens to the land I currently have? What about my group-owned land? If the land is taken back via some eminent domain-ish means, are we to expect our $L to be returned? Will we be seeing more M sims? |

And I concur - holy sh*t They wrote in the mail what happens with the land and structures you own. Your monthly subscription fee will automatically be set higher, to the amount needed for your structures. That means, if you have much much land and really big structures on it, it could happen that you have to pay 4 times more than you normally would, without the Lindens asking you if you want to pay more. This is from the email: "Change the amount of land you want and your monthly fee adjusts accordingly." Maybe I got it wrong, but this is, how I understand it. I hope, I really, really hope that I missunderstood them. |

I am happy about no object taxes, but this could result in more object spam.
Also the chance to earn US dollars, however I'd rather not have this and not have also paying for stuff with US dollars, than have this at all. One thing I liked about SL so much was that it was all in-world currency, all you had to pay out with US was for the subscription. Another question, the land fee, does that come from your subscription fee? Or added on? Like if you pay 15 a month for your sub, does that cover the land and then you have to pay more the more you want, or, is it 15 with your sub PLUS 15 more for the land? Details are vastly needed, but I guess you can't really know what details are needed untill people ask for certain ones. _____________________

yup. put me in the "i hate it" column. i just knew that there would be no way LL would allow us to contiue to get away with having so much fun at a flat monthly cost. They've seen how much money There generates by selling worthless code to people and they clearly want to cash in on the same cow.
color me disappointed. i really liked this game. |

As a lifetime member you are guaranteed 1/16th of a sim for life. How is that being had?

The lifetime members, like everyone else are guaranteed a certain amount of land tax free. Beyond that 1/16th you hold free and clear, you can use Linden Dollars or US Dollars to own even more land.

Aurelie,
What it means is that we get 1/16th of a sim (4096 m) of land for our lifetime membership. If you want more land than that, you have to pay a monthly fee on top of it. Cristiano |

Because now I have to choose which land to give up. I do currently own a little more than 1/8th land. Awwwww heck...give me a break and let me complain will ya? This is a total change and I am in shock.

The answer to what I know / have infered.
What happens to land I own? "Your bill at the end of the month will be based on the peak amount of land you owned during the previous 30 days." My guess is there will be a grace period where we will know exactly how much land we have and how many objects over that land so we have time to adjust before new rates hit. Objects are counted per parcel - owning a square in another sim won't help you get more prims for your big project. I hope there is a good tool or method for finding out how far over that cap we are. I don't know how the prim limit will be enforced on existing builds, but I don't think they are gonna tear down the world for 1.2 when they didn't want to for 1.0 . My questions are: Exactly how much land do we get for $10? Exactly how long does a one-time $10 subscription last? Exactly how will prim limits be enforced on existing projects? When will pricing take effect? How will we know where we stand on land and prim counts? How much L$ will we get now per week? Who were the top 25 dwell people? How was the money split up? How exactly will it be split up in the future? What is the value of being incredibly rich in L$ now? What is the value of L$? What about themed sims? How will group land work? How can I switch to the one-time-$10 account? (Everyone knows I was already quiting, but keeping my character around and log-in access would be great!) Do I need to re-sign up after the changes go active? Will that be within the next 60 days? _____________________
