I beleive this sort of statement is why i had to make the comment As a woman, it takes a lot of self realization, courage, and ability to be able to recognize your feelings against what you are told is wrong to admit you are attracted to other women. It takes none of these things for a man to pretend to be a woman and say "she" wants to date women. Collette, I was being somewhat sarcastic, as I find the whole thing somewhat humorous. Its all part of the beauty of SL. I hope I didn't truly offend. Regards, -Flip's Alt |

Very interesting blog! Yeah, that is, isn't it? Of course I'm biased but I'll be openly so, and welcome Jonny to SL and for raising such a discussion.Kei, thanks for citing that! _____________________

Yes Real Life is what im reffering to. It is true it is much easier for women to experiment with lesbian sex, and even a Online lesbian life style in Second Life. Most of these I have met make it very clear how they are in real life on this matter. I do not live a lesbian lifestyle in real life .. im married with two children. (please keep any comments about my infidelity to yourself - its not your life) I have dated women both in real life and online. A very good friend of mine who is a lesbian told me not to be too quick to label myself. So as far as being a lesbian the answer is- I am still learning who I am. I have seen some of the discrimination involved, but by no means claim to have experienced it on any scale like a lesbian who is living an openly gay life style. It is pretty disrespectful of lesbians and homosexuals in general for men to pretend to be women and call themselves lesbians. That all being said ... I more made this comment becuase of the men pretending and calling themselves lesbians ... less the actual playing of female avatars by men. I suppose it could be seperate issue from a casual hook up . since anyone in that situation isnt really looking past "skin" deep anyhow. My liar boyfriend was very good at pretending when it came to Sapphic cybersex. I don't think it's disrespectful. People are drawn to a virtual world for a reason. To express some aspect of who they are or who they want to be that they aren't or can't express in RL. I find it flattering when the things I am, other people wish to be. I'd rather guys be emulating women and in a limited way, experiencing what its like, than considering them a foreign "other". _____________________

Hmm i do understand the virtual imatation is a sincere form of flattery idea. I dont agree becuase of some of the ulterior motives involved. In my personal experience .. my boyfriend who claimed he was a lesbian made a whole gambit of things up about his "real life" , most he volunteered. turns out he lied about his gender , his age (twice, though he was an adult luckily) , his job, his previous online marriage and how it ended (turns out they were both men lying about their personal lives) , his real life dating ups and downs .. all of it. If thats convuluted to follow , imagine dealing with it. In the end his motives were to hopefully meet me in real life, he was really hoping to find a Bisexual woman .. turns out he had a irrestible threeway fantasy. Even when he initally revealed he was a man I tired to make things work for a while. It was the rest lies added on that eventually proved the killer of the relationship. I asked him if he deep down wanted to be a woman.. and he said "Not at All" .. he was a straight man. I think someone like him calling himself a lesbian is disrespectful to lesbians. Now .. on the other hand .. like in that Blog .. both of the men playing women in a lesbian relationship .. are pretty clear about things .. thats entirely a different thing. Ive also known people online who were always "in character" no personal details would ever be shared and they didnt ask for any. That also might be a bit different If someone is truly transgendered? possibly different as well |

No matter what he called himself, it would be have been disrespectful. But all the lies he told were still to present an image of himself that was actually better than who he really was. And while this guy deserves to have his ball hairs waxed off for the way he behaved, I don't think the actual act of pretending to be something you aren't is disrespectful. _____________________

It said I was bi. "Lezza, whatever. If it moves, you'll consider it. You are either a greedy bisexual, or you are greedy-bisexual-curious. You want to have your cake and eat it. Of course. Why have cake and not eat it? That would be stupid. Make sure you save a piece for me (slut) " _____________________

The lesbianity is strong in this one. You love the ladies. Either that or you just like cats and bad music. I bet you've got a good collection of baseball caps. Or are they scalps from your sexual conquests? Oh, no. They're baseball caps (sorry 'bout that)." |

lesbianity
Anybody can be a lesbian. Anybody. Are you? error: you have failed question 1 You are a lesbian. Well, sort of. A lesbian trapped in a hairy, dangly man s body. You must be a lesbian because you love lesbians. Especially the ones with blonde hair and big plastic boobies who star in films called things like Lady-Lovin -Clit-Lickin -Muff-Puppies. You know that all lesbians really need is the love of a good man and hey - you're just the man to give it to them! Unfortunately, most lesbians would rather sew up their own vaginas than take you up on your offer. Keep trying though. LOL! Damn..the test pegged me right on with the first question!_____________________

Thinking on this.. I remembered a conversation I had with a good online friend.
It was more than a year back she was talking about the possibility of an internet fling and she said she would really prefer if they were a woman on both sides of the screen. She put it very simply .. Lesbian love is a wonderful thing, it makes sense men would want to know what it is like, but it is not for them. |

Lemme tell you a story... It was a dark and stormy night when she entered my life. She was young, stacked like a brick shithouse and had a face a guy like me doesn't deserve. We became friends, enjoying each others company for quite a while. I helped her learn the ropes 'cause she was new in town and I am a nice guy. No, really. I knew ahe wasn't interested in a grizzled old galoot like me and I never pushed anything with her. One day she sends a picture of herself in RL. Man, she was prettier than a new '52 Caddy with a clear title; she had legs that went all the way up to her neck and an ass that made you want to saddle up and ride.
Later on we get to talking and I find out she likes me a lot and she wants to go all the way with me, but there is a problem; she is a lesbian. She finds herself in an odd quandry, she has come to like me so much that she is attracted to me but she can't get over thae fact I am male... so what does a red blooded, two fisted lug do? The only thing he can do, he puts on a dame's shape, long hair and a dress and plays a hermophrodite character so he can help her feel the earth move, if you know what I mean. As long as I had tab A to slip into slot B I didn't mind too much. We had some laughs and some hot encounters but eventually she drifted away, I think because I was a guy in real life and not nearly so sexually adventurous as the character I played. It was ok, I guess and we remain friends even now, even though we are no longer friends who have sex. I look back on it now and realize she was right, I may have tried to accomodate for her, it just wasn't the real me. I met another lady who I became involved with a little after the first who confused the hell out of me. See, I was brought up to respect women and treat them the way they should be treated. She was an intelligent and talented lady who was a real looker. Well she wanted me to abuse her, treat her like dirt 'cause it really got her off. All my life I have been taught to respect women and here she was wanting me to beat her, degrade her and do unmentionable things to her, and not just in the bed room but all the time... I tried, a little just for her but I couldn't do it. I hated it and she could tell. I mean, I know it's just pixels and all but still, a guy's gotta draw the line somewhere. I sometimes think of these two ships who passed by me in the night when I'm down at Joe's Corner Bar, the smoke stinging my eyes and some sad saxaphone that is only a little off key is playing. I'll throw back a couple of whiskeys to dull the memories a little. After a while, I'll sinch up my trench coat and put a tilt to my fedora then leave that smokey little bar and go home to my wife who loves me for who I am. I step out and realize the rain has stopped and there is a slight spring to my step. |
