Since it seems there is much disagreement about what constitutes a personal attack, I am curious what the worst personal attacks people have seen are. Don't name who said them or who they were said about, simply the attack itself. The worst I have ever seen was someone being told they were a waste of human sperm. Though another really horrific one was someone telling someone who was going off to Iraq that they hoped they were killed so we never had to see them post again. Now those are personal attacks, clear and unambiguous.

One time I said that I like brown puppies.
Then this other guy posted and said he didn't like brown puppies, and black puppies were better. That was a pretty nasty personal attack. Can't think of anything worse than that one. _____________________

Well, the ones you've all mentioned, and some of those made by self-styled goody-two-shoes types.
It really doesn't matter to me if they aren't as severe as those already listed, because of the extreme hypocrisy involved.. Calling people "prostitutes" comes to mind.. "Asswipe"... "fuck your opinions"... "fooking moron"... etc. Its's funny that direct derogatory remarks like those above are given clearance ("you made them do it" ![]() _____________________

I can't deny that the worst I have suffered was by 2 males who spoke to me like I was a 4 year old child who needed to be chastised for her idiotic ideas. I took it as typical male arrorgance and now they are on my poop list forever.
Oh and by the way sexism does exist in the forums just as it does in Second Life. How do you spell arrogance anyway? |

Probably "fuck your opinions."
No, I'm not parroting Nolan; I thought that was pretty bad. As an aside ... this thread is a prime target for that Queen we all love: DRAMA I hate that word too. "Drama". BLAHJSFDJLKJSI _____________________

The post last weekend where someone said that a resident made them want to change their position on abortion (from pro-life to pro-choice), but the post was edited out or I would link it. It stood out to me as the single worst thing I have ever read in forums and I will never forget that post or forget who made the post. The motel 6 and the belt is a close second...

That one note you have is starting to sound out of tune. Care to elucidate what that one note is? Yeah, I see that you went out of your way to single me out and "attack" me in this thread... I do... But that's ok, because *I* can handle it... and.. I am getting used to blatant net nanny hypocrisy... *Gets out the carpet stain remover* I believe the tradename is "Resolve". _____________________

I'm simply highlighting the fact that you keep making the same point over and over and over again. It's almost as if saying it again and again will make it really true. It is certainly your perogative to repeat that same not quite in tune note. No skin off of my nose, of course. BTW, I wasn't aware that making a post about someone's comments was "singling out" someone. I'll need to keep that in mind. Snarkily Yours, Dog. |

What's funny, is that that was at least the third time I've said it to him in the forums. As far as I'm concerned it's just a running joke between me and one of my good friends and by "friends" I mean someone I don't like. Three interesting notes. The full quote can be seen in my signature. I did receive a formal warning for it. No, I did not contest it. ~Ulrika~ Ulrika, You know that I am a huge fan. However, I have to agree, I found the remark particularly disturbing. It is one thing to spar with someone and question their intelligence or make some quip about their personality. It is quite another to make the implication that they are so pathetic they probably would have committed suicide by now. There are many people who suffer from severe depression and struggle sometimes moment to moment with the idea of not killing themselves, and pretty much live their lives being passively suicidal. I don't think, even in the case of it being a joke, that you realize the impact a statement like that has. Having had my best friend commit suicide, and a family member try, I can tell you that words like that do resonate a lot farther than you probably intended them to. I hope you will have the decency to remove it from your signature. _____________________

As far as I'm concerned it's just a running joke between me and one of my good friends and by "friends" I mean someone I don't like. Personally, I find it very amusing. The construction and visual just make me giggle. Three interesting notes. The full quote can be seen in my signature. I did receive a formal warning for it. No, I did not contest it. ~Ulrika~ As a spiteful and hateful person, I've just gotta say: that was one deliciously malicious comment! I nominate that comment for the Bannable Bon Mot of the Year. |

BTW, I wasn't aware that making a post about someone's comments was "singling out" someone. I'll need to keep that in mind. Snarkily Yours, Dog. Well, when one responds to you, it's apparently singling out and attacking. See, I am trying to follow your rules... Now, paraphasing: "making something true through repetition"? Those things were said. They were. Some of them were edited out because they were considered personal attacks BY A MOD. Get it? Not me, not you, A MOD. The point being, it's ridiculously hypocritical, and excuses like "they were pushed into saying it", don't cut it with me. If people want to beseech people to act like adults, the least they can to is stop making excuses for certain posters, who actually go further with their attacks. Excuses that adults normally reserve for children, AND it would be nice if they would display the type of behavior that they are calling for. These things were said DogSpot, by people who preach against such behavior. So your weird accusation that I am trying to make something true through repetition is flawed and basically worthless. _____________________

*yawn* I'm bored. Perhaps you could play another note instead. Musically yours, Dog Why do you keep dismissing it? I'm curious. You want people to take your points seriously, but you dismiss his. Nothing you have said is particularly unique. He is right, there is a pattern in these forums where someone comes in, calls everyone a bully except for select people, then allows those people to get away with the same or worse offenses than what they originally criticized people for. It is a well worn pattern throughout the history of these forums, though the nanny factor has been in full effect in the past 6-8 months. _____________________

The reason it's getting dismissed now is because he's already made the point (many times). I (we) don't need to be bludgeoned with it to get the message. |

The reason it's getting dismissed now is because he's already made the point (many times). I (we) don't need to be bludgeoned with it to get the message. Ok - but aren't we also bludgeoned with the message that there are elite people who are mean to others and control the forums? I've seen it repeated multiple times by you, by Cocoanut, by what's his name from the other thread, etc. Lots of things get repeated. I just wish both sides would shut up about it and stop trying to control each other's behavior. You didn't like that Jauani was sarcastic to you, so you were rude right back to him. A situation that could have simply resolved itself if other self appointed moralists didn't jump in. From now on, I am not going to say a word about it - it is pointless. People will remain fucking hypocrites (actually not you, you seem fairly reasonable), so there is really no point to go around and around in circles again. _____________________

A situation that could have simply resolved itself if other self appointed moralists didn't jump in. Yes, I agree completely. I will freely admit that I was wrong by starting *that* thread and (perhaps unwittingly) lighting the fuse. And you are correct. Jauani and I would have had a few snarky exchanges and it would have been over. Until the pig pile started. From now on, I am not going to say a word about it - it is pointless. People will remain fucking hypocrites (actually not you, you seem fairly reasonable), so there is really no point to go around and around in circles again. To be honest, I had hoped that the whole damned thing would have been on the downslope, but some folks here just have to keep picking at it. We've had several more posts including the "socially inept" thread that were designed precisely to keep the f*cking topic front and center. FWIW, you'll find that I am, in fact, reasonable and mostly tension free. I just never seem to be getting off on the right foot. |
