Will SOMEONE please go kick Tcoz and get him to come pronounce *his* name????? "Tea-Coz?" "tCause?" I asked him about this perhaps a week ago. He slid around an answer sideways, telling me where "Tcoz" came from, but not how it's pronounced. I'm convinced that it's pronounced "Chozz", but with a harder "t" sound more like "Tchozz". Sort of like Tchaikovsky |

I've had plenty of people in voice chat that have tried to use the Spanish/Italian pronunciation for Artillo, but I pronounce it: "Art-ILL-oh" Just to let you know: Spanish and Italian pronunciations for Artillo aren't the same. "Art-ILL-oh" is the italian pronunciation (btw, the word isn't italian, anyway; i think it is spanish). Believe me. I am italian ![]() Ok, editing to add this (just to make fun of the most famous internet fish...): According to babel fish, the spanish "artillo" means in english "I equip with artillery", but something doesn't sound good to me... that fish sometimes seems not to work properly... The italian word with the same pronounciation is "artiglio". And it means "claw"... (ok, i must admit that "artiglio" in italian, in an unsual way, can be read as "I equip with artillery", but i am sure that you didn't mean that when you chose your name...) |

Believe me. I am italian ![]() Actually, that works for me, since I made the name up myself and never seen it used ANYWHERE else before! LOL The name comes from an old D&D character I had, sort of a combination of Art, Armor/Artillery (he was a fighter class) and sounded kinda Italian (which I am 16 2/3% Italian anyway )_____________________

I'm convinced that it's pronounced "Chozz", but with a harder "t" sound more like "Tchozz". I know someone named Tcoz whose name IS pronounced as you describe it, but likely derived from a different source. I have always fascinating how there are homonyms, and how there are also words that look exactly the same but pronounced differently... really adds to the flavor of it all. ![]() _____________________

Alienor - Ah-lee-eh-nor, emphasis on lee. Nothing to do with "alien", thank you.
Most people call me Ali, which I pronunciate Ah-lee. Lumiere - Like the French pronunciation (Lü-me-err, emphasis on Lü). |

Yes it does! My hubby always called me Ursula (from George of the Jungle) so when I started playing Uru online I just changed it a little. Hee... I'm a regular Nancy Drew. I pronounce it OO (as in too) ROO Suh luh with the emphasis on the second syllable (roo) By the way, I love your signature ![]() That's pretty much how it sounded in my head. As for my sig, there was a time (hasn't happened in a while) where if I went anywhere, people I didn't know would say "Uru!" I was like, wtf? until I saw you in the forums. I used to play a bear character on a MU... and thought it was a good ursine name. Of course, even then people thought I was someone else, because unbeknownst to me there was a relatively well known artist of the same name. I took to wearing a button saying I wasn't her since I was asked on a daily basis. And I love the old George of the Jungle 'toon! ![]() _____________________
