Maggie, this is a great idea for a thread! I get asked how my name is pronouced all the time. It is pronouced just like the recording artist Enya. The "A" is silent.

My name is Bob. I pronounce it Bob. Pronounced backwards it is boB.
My name was chosen thus (pronounced 'thus') in case I am so drunk I'm ass-backwards. B (for Bob) B _____________________

pete fats: gui that works, and beos pete fats: what could be better You know Maggie, it is funny that your signature has mention of BeOS in it. I was talking to someone today about BeOS (my favorite OS) who had never heard of it, and they asked how it was pronounced - they pronounced it BEE-AWS, which amused me for its closeness to BIOTCH! In light of this thread, I thought I would mention that. _____________________

Mine, Ilianexsi, has 3 syllables-- Ilia-nex-si, with the accent on the second syllable. It's pronounced like 'illy-a-neck-see,' again with the stress on the neck (or nex) part. (Insert your own stress/neck joke there.) Most people call me Ilia or Ilian (pronounced like Lillian) which is cool by me and much easier anyway.

I want to see just how Urusula Zapata pronounces hers. Does it have anything to do with Uru Online? Yes it does! My hubby always called me Ursula (from George of the Jungle) so when I started playing Uru online I just changed it a little. I pronounce it OO (as in too) ROO Suh luh with the emphasis on the second syllable (roo) By the way, I love your signature ![]() _____________________

Rickard you can pronounce any way you want as long as you don't call me Rich, Richard, or Dick
. I usually think of it as rick-erd rather than rick-Ard (think picard with an r). Roentgen is pronounced RENT-gen pretty much. The o is almost silent and theres almost a stop betwen the t and g. To say it totally right try saying the e in Roent with your mouth shaped like an o, then when you can't do it go to a plain eh. and in case there's any further confusion, gen g as in giant and e as in eh._____________________

Its mostly silent letters. The actual pronounciation cannot be verbalized by most people, but it sounds like a porpoise hacking up a cheap cardigan sweater full of tuna fillets marinated in ipecac syrup.

feniks- fonetic for Phoenix, as in the mythical bird of the sun. Stone - as in stone. Funny, I always pronounced it in my head as a short e. At least it doesn't end up sounding like a naughty word... =) _____________________
