We continued our journey down Second Street to the BART, passing all of the strife on Jessie's border. I thought to myself "where is Jack O. when you need him?"

We zipped across the Bay without incident. We called His Grace (now known as StoneSelf Karuna) and confirmed our meeting him and Neo Rebus at 7pm. We popped down just as they drove up, we introduced ourselves, exchanged pleasantries. Then proceeded to drive across the parking lot to the restaurant like good Californians!

We had an excellent meal in a Fish Market type restaurant. Neo and His are great fun, we all chattered up a storm. I was going to order Wild Turkey on the rocks but it reminded me of that old buzzard Crow Valen so I opted for Jack Daniels.

At 10pm we reluctantly had to say goodnight as we were going to head south early the next morning.

The next morning we checked out and hit the road for San Jose and our lunch date with Mickey Roarke. He and his two partners have their business in a great old building in downtown. He took us and one of his partners to lunch nearby, I think all the business people in the downtown area were there!

We headed back out down highway 101 (map attached), next destination = Paso Robles again!

We arrived about 7pm that evening, and how relieved we were that Crow Valen hadn't been spotted since we left Fremont. I guess that old buzzard got tired of stalking us.

We took a day off of traveling on Friday and just hung around Paso Robles doing some shopping. I found an outlet for UGGs but couldn't decide to buy or not to buy. They come in a pretty claret color now.

We poked around in a Radio Shack looking for a mini-trackball for me to use with the laptop. I have found there is no desk big enough for me and a mouse!! No luck tho, but Garth did buy two radio control cars for his son (Phoenix Fairlight).

Garth looked around for some new shoes too but didn't find anything he really liked, but he did pick up a pair of slippers.

That evening I introduced him to the wonders of Mexican dining! We found "La Mexicana" and he ordered enchiladas and I got a chili relleno. He really enjoyed it.

Saturday morning we packed the car, checked out of the motel, ate breakfast at the local Denny's. Then I decided I really did want those UGGs so we went over to Spring St and found it blocked due to the Pioneer Day parade! We parked the car and wandered over to see.

Pituca seen in 'WALMART' !!!!!!!
11-04-2004 09:39
Yes folks, Pituca went to Walmart, took a little persuading from me. But she went!!

I bought Shoes not slippers, and she got some DVD RAM disks that were proving hard to find in other stores.

I did want to take a photo but she threatened me if I did !!

Talk about small town Americana! This was a wonderful experience for both Garth and me. Unfortunatly we missed the beginning of the parade with the giant tractors and combines. Although the combine I saw going down the street in the distance didn't look to me to be nearly as large as the giant combines that swept the middle west in my younger days.

Well, to continue our saga:

We took the 46 east to hook up to the 405. I couldn't let Garth not see the wonders of fast Interstate travel through the southern half of the San Joaquin Valley!

The 46 is a lovely road full of vineyards. I hope that on one of his future visits we can explore the wineries and maybe take some tours.

We got on the 405 and blazed south toward the Grapvine (the name of part of the highway to get over the mountains to to Los Angeles basin). There was a lot of traffic notwithstanding that it was Saturday. We were glad when we finally arrived at my little house in Orange County.

The following week my family gathered for a backyard barbeque to meet Garth. It was kinda cloudy and cold so we ended up eating around the dining room table. We had a fabulous time! Yaayyy Garth survived the family inspection. A lot of tech talk went on all afternoon.

The following thursday we went to a lovely restaurant on a lake, and guess who showed up!! The infamous Crow Valen!

It was wonderful meeting him, we chatted up a storm. He treated us to a fabulous lunch then we went out by the lake to get a picture of the 3 of us. I just love that picture, I have it framed in my office.

We were going to Disneyland the following Monday or Tuesday but we were rained out so Mickeyland will have to wait till his next visit.

On Thursday with great sadness I saw Garth wing off to London. But I will be going back to London on January 12th to spend 6 weeks there!

I was gonna let Mom edit this to fix things, but she told me to add to the post and correct it. The freeway she took is the I-5, not the 405 which is down in Los Angeles and Irvine and points south.

Grapevine? Orange County? San Joaquin Valley?

These are some awfully strange sim names... I guess SL is growing faster than everyone expected... still, I haven't seen these names on the map... send me a TP sometime and I'll check them out... :D

You three take an awfully cute picture - but who was on camera duty?

Congrats on passing the family litmus test Garth - of course now you'll have to learn to eat Southwestern style cuisine...

=Sinclair

<MICKEYLAND fer cryin out loud...? C'mon, no one names an entire sim after a mouse, right... right...? >

I loved watching the dust bowls (mini twisters) on the I-5. They had me fancinated.

BTW, Crow is the ugly one in that photo ;P

I can't wait for January when Hunny visits London again. I WANT HER HERE NOW !!

New FOX series?
01-06-2005 20:21
Rumors persist that the FOX network is planning a reality show based on Garth, Pituca, and Crow in which they travel across America on scenic Route 66 and enjoy raucous good times. On their way they encounter strange people who share their interest in a certain online virtual world...

Working title: Americana Idyll ?

:D

This is a great thread :)

I went on a mission tour (i.e. the Spanish missions) when I was younger, went as far north as San Louis Obispo. It was a nice drive. One of these days I'm going to visit San Francisco...
