The saga continues! I am waiting for my son to pick me up and take me to the telehub station in Los Angeles where I will be whisked to the Heathrow telehub in London.

Do you suppose Crow will find us again? There are ravens at the Tower of London,,, but a Crow? Garth said he spotted him, but I still am not sure.

Please don't tell him I am going, he is sooo pesky.

Picture follows, is that him?

Watch this thread for further updates.

It was 80 degrees farenheit when I left LA!!

Regardless of the fun he makes of me, it is coooollldd!

Sunday we took the famed London underground to Oxford Street as his son wanted to spend some birthday money at the Virgin Mega Store. I got some neat pictures along the way.

First off is the Underground station at Leyton, which isn't underground at all. We got off at the Marble Arch station. I got a great pic of the escalator up and out!

I enjoyed walking down Oxford and I spied Merwan's favorite spot! Starbucks! hehe

We ate at KFC, strange they serve french fries (they call them chips) instead of mashed potatos and gravy. No corn on the cob to be seen either.

We then went to the Mega Store in Picadilly Circus and browsed around. Quite an establishment there. Sorry I didn't get any pictures. Just the Starbucks one.

Be sure and tell Merwan. hehe

We did some local shopping today and got a couple of pictures, I will post them tomorrow. I still have to download them and re-format.

We went shopping the other day, we walked to the bus stop in Leyton. I spotted Crow wearing his gull suit in the street munching chips (thats what they call french fries over here) but by the time I got my camera out he had taken off, I only managed to get these two blurry snapshots of him.

We sauntered over to the bus stop, it is across the street from the local pub. See picture below. We haven't been there as yet. Garth says he has never been to that one either.

We got on one of those double deckers and went off to Stratford.

We arrived in Stratford at lunchtime, so went to the pub. I had fish and chips and was pleased to see they had Corona Extra, so I ordered one :D I don't remember what Garth ordered but he did have a wiskey and ginger. heh

We went into the mall there in Stratford. It has some stalls in the middle much like an outdoor Market Place. It reminded me a lot of the old Victoria Market in Puebla, Mexico only much cleaner and not so noisy!

Check out the picture I took of the pretty church there in Stratford also.

For the return trip we walked to the Underground station there and took a cab back home as we had lots of purchases.

I got up this morning and looked out the window and said:

Pituca: It rained, the sidewalk is wet.
Garth: The pavement.
Pituca: That is wet too.
Garth: That is the road.

No wonder we are misunderstood! In my neighborhood the road in front of his house would be called a street. And excuuusse me! A sidewalk is a sidewalk it doesn't matter with what it is paved.

A dumpster is not a skip, a skip is something little girls do while walking down the sidewalk.

I asked him if there were any streetcars in London, and he said no, but there are in some of the seaside towns. But they call them trams. Well we in the U.S. know that a tram is what you take in the parking lot in Disneyland. And at the end of the day the tram takes you back to your car so you can go home.

Bangers and Mash is something on the menu, it is nothing more than sausage with mashed potatos and gravy. BUT as I mentioned before if you go to KFC there are no mashed potatos only the gravy? Who ever heard of having fried chicken without mashed potatos and gravy?

Loving the stories Pituca!

As for your differences, in the first two pictures you are clearly in the right. That's a street, because if a street has sidewalks, then it's a street and not a road. Roads are more likely to have shoulders. He may argue that that's really a verge, but that's neither here nor there.

As for the third picture, Garth is in the right. That's clearly a skip and not a dumpster. ;)

We took the bus back to Stratford again today. Had lunch at the same pub. I really like that place, it was packed today, I guess the Brits celebrate TGIF also.

There was a huge table of 20 somethings near us and they were having a very good time.

Before that we went to a computer store to get some stuff for updating his sons PC, you know the drill, motherboard, power supply and all that stuff.

I saw this Royal Mail Truck (Garth says Van) earlier in the day across the street from Garths house. I was soooo excited, I thought the Queen was out delivering invitations.
Then Garth told me that is merely the local parcel delivery. I ran for the camera but he took off before I could get his picture. Fortunatly we saw him again near the bus stop. Real classy mail delivery I say.

Then we took the bus back, stopped in a small store not far from his house and got grapes, apples, oranges, lemons. Garth has never had avocado so I bought one.

We saw Crow too, strutting around in his pigeon outfit.

Aww, poor Crow.

I went downstairs this morning to make a cup of green tea with a hint of jasmine...hehe ....No Maggie Garth doesn't drink tea only coffee.... I spied this visitor through the kitchen window. He was looking for Crow, but that pesky bird hasn't been around in a couple of days.

Sorry the picture is a tad fuzzy being taken through the window and all.

Oh BTW the newscaster today said it is going to be cold this week, that a cold front is moving in from the artic. Going to be cold? you mean going to be colder!!! Good grief, these Brits. It hasn't hit 50 since I have been here. Their high is our low.

I am not complaing mind you, I knew it would be cold, but call it right please.

Pituca,

Your picture of the Royal Mail truck looks more like a picture of a Royal Mail van to me. :)
