Okay so I belong to both at the moment (Early Beta & FIC) :)
Feted = celebrated
Fetid = rancid, spoiled

Did these two groups come about as a spelling error on the forums or was this purposeful & I missed the thread? :)

Eh, someone -- I should be able to remember, but can't ATM -- changed the title of the Oldbie Conspiracy as a joke of the moment and it hasn't been changed back yet.

But yes, Sol, on the Forums, there are lots of jokes about fetid fetedness.

There was a forum post in which reference was made to the feted inner corp, and from there the name morphed to fetid since the reference was critical.

Read any post by Prokofy Neva. He has a hard time writing more than a paragraph without complaining about the feted inner core of celebrated piviledged oldbie content barons who are somehow oppressing him and screwing up SL for everyone else :p

I am fetid and proud of it. I am, in fact, the newly minted ruler of The Holy Empire of Really Smelly Cheese. I'll thank you all to refer to me in the future as "Your Supreme Fetidnousness."

If the people have no bread... let them eat cheese! :D

People don't understand a high-class word like "feted" (celebrated, indulged) even thought they are said same LOL. That's one of the reasons why this coddled and cossetted groups needs to be criticized.

Ingrid Ingersoll started the joke by taking it as "fetid" and carrying the ball further, I honestly don't think she made a spelling mistake, although many others do.

Remember, you don't have to be old to be feted. Some feted were only born in December 2004. It's a state of mind, an attitude, a set of behaviours.

Could it be said that if you *have* to ask, then you are in the group lol?

Patronize much? Assume much?

Who are you to decide what other people understand and what they don't? Myself, I have understood every word you ever "indulged" yourself with, and I am very sure there are many others who did too. A large vocabulary means nothing if you get mired down in self feting just because you use "dem der big words". :rolleyes:

"High class"? Talk about hedonistic, my god.

tr.v. fet·ed, also fêt·ed fet·ing, fêt·ing fetes, fêtes

1. To celebrate or honor with a festival, a feast, or an elaborate entertainment.
2. To pay honor to.

Nothing about a "set of behaviors" or a "state of mind" or "indulgence".

It would be nice if you didn't embellish the meaning of the word to fit your idiosyncratic fantasies, Mr. Webster.

You know, I've realized something. The feted, fetid inner core are fetished with Prokofy, and famished for attention.

Feted, fetid, fetished, famished. And fecund with drama. ;)

( ;) <--- That means it's just a frolic.)

Damn! More "high class" words! OH MY BRAIN! :D

I am partial to "festooned" myself.....

Ex: Prokofy's threads are festooned with "high class" words in hopes that if he/she could make her/his self sound more knowledgeable and convincing. Too bad it didn't work...

Your superciliousness is beyond reproach, mon petit chou. Grandeur, as in "delusions of", is another high class word that applies to you and your faux French affectations. However, as far as "high class" words go, I prefer w00t myself. It expresses so much in four little letters. Come to think of it, you evoke a lot of four letter words. Hurry up, your latest consipiracy theory isn't going to write itself!

Anyone who happened to bring their fated innards over to the Herald recently, (specifically, this story: http://www.dragonscoveherald.com/blog/index.php?p=677) has learned that both terms seem to have been coined way back in the dark ages of January 2005, in this forum thread, an early salvo in the You Don't Own the View debate.

The "feted inner core" first appeared on the afternoon of January 3d, as an adjective in the concluding graf of a superlatively long-winded post of Prok's, which also seems to be the first appearance of his contention that the alleged existence of such a group (which he contends LL helped create) constitutes "one of the major obstacles LL will face in growth."

Nine posts and 34 mintues later, Ingrid Ingersoll seems to have created the "fetid inner core" via a misspelling in this post. (I've read a post somewhere in which Ingrid acknowledges that it was a misspelling, but I can't find it at the moment.

Fortunately, Beryl Greenacre clears up the confusion later in the same thread by defining the fetid inner core as "a group dedicated to the appreciation of smelly cheeses."

Naw, that's just my personal homage to fetid fromage. :D

That's really the beauty of SL, anyone can embrace and celebrate his/her own fetid inner core in any way he/she chooses. Vive le difference!
