Since some don't like Sexy Contests, Should Sexual Content be taken out of SL?

Since alot of you are agains't Sexy Contests, should Sexual Content be taken out of Secondlife? Keep in mind the debate and how both relate. Of course I expect content makers that make linden dollars off of it to be agains't it for obvious reasons, however; for those of you that downgrade the quality of Sexy Events, what is your view on Sexual Content? And im sure some are going to argue the point that Sexual Content is a Product where as Sexy Contests are not.

I will answer it. I have nothing against the sexual aspects of SL, as sleazy as they may get. I think the major objection to the "SEXIEST AV WEARING BLACK LINGERIE SHOWING NIPPLES" contests is just the sheer monotony and lameness of them. The same club will throw multiple contests in a row. Sexiest in purple. Sexiest in blue. Sexiest in a blue bra and purple shoes. Etc. It is nothing but spam to get people to dwell in a club. They drag out the vote a ridiculously long time, and generally some friend of the club owner, or a dancer, or some other shill wins the contest.

It has nothing to do with not liking the sexual nature of SL. It has everything to do with not liking uncreative, retarded spam events.

I'm with Cris. Nothing against sex in SL at all. I just don't like opening the events list and seeing 12 'best naked this' or 'sexiest that in a thong' contests every hour, when I'm trying to look for something interesting.

Now if it was Best Poledancing Plywood Hippo in a Thong, Hottub Party, I might be curious...

No, Blake, that is not what I am saying. I am saying the overuse of them as a scam just to bring people to a club is the lame part. I think a lot of the sexual products are ridiculously silly, but to each his own. However, people selling the sexual products are not asking for a subsidy.

No, I stand by it also being uncreative to simply rely on SEXIEST THONG MODEL contests, and have 10 variations on that a day, funding or not. In pursuit of free money, people often do the minimal they have to. Maybe if forced to be more creative to draw people to a place and earn money, you will see more diverse events. Or perhaps you will just see variations on the same old theme: "Learn how to win sexiest av in black lingerie showing nipples contests"

I voted yes because I disagree with the idea of SL being all M and PG jumbled up.

Why did they never have the "west side of SL" entirely PG zones, and the east side M? It would be a cinch to add new sims to either side and private sims could be added at the top and bottom sides rather than the west as they are now.

The whole hubbub of M users having to watch what they have on their land from being right next to a PG zone would be eliminated, making M users happy, and PG users that don't want to see the M stuff would be able to.

Yes, I know that shuffling them around now would cause legendary sim border terraforming issues... alas, it's too late for that vision. :>

Either way, I would have probably enjoyed SL much more if the trip from Point A to Point B could have been either one or the other.... :>

The reason is that the west side is comprised of older sims. There used to be far more PG sims than M, but the demand for mature sims was much higher than it was for PG. As the world has expanded they've weighted more heavily towards mature sims to meet the demand.

No flaming going on, just curious about that statement. How is going through an M sim any different than flying through a PG sim? All of the land I own is in M sims, and it is not like flying through some giant adult bookstore or something (well now that Pen no longer has a porn gallery). Sexual content is not allowed to be openly visible in M sims anyway, so is there really any difference?

I understand your point, however; Educational and other types of Events have been tried and from what I hear did not bring in the the people that the Sexy related Events did. I would think it is simply a demand issue; I mean, Educational Event Opportunities have always been there, so; you think the demand issue should be enforced with Educational Events, am I on track?

As much as I like freedom and letting people do whatever floats their boat, it does get hard to find events that I personally like with all the club events.

However, I won't go so far as to say that there shouldn't be those club events, since obviously many folks like them and they do get large crowds and good dwell. They were also a source of income for some folks.

I do think some clubs were/are less than honest on who they award prizes to, especially if the prize is an exceptionally large sum of cash. Those type seem to go to very close associates, or even employees of the club. But if their patrons don't mind, who am I to complain.

One possible solution would be a "mute" or sort style feature on the events listing, so that you could weed out events that feature some keywords or are hosted by a particular person. Of course with the new changes, that might not be needed any longer. Time will tell.

Clubs are a popular attraction, and folks enjoy them and their not-all-that-creative events. And I think that's fine. People should do what they enjoy in SL.

And, back to the topic, of course sexual content shouldn't be removed from SL. That's silly. Human beings are sexual, (as are most animals), and thus sex is a natural part of behavior and society.

Simple fact is, as in RL, works the same here....SEX SELLS! Everybody seems to be comming down hard on club owners for allowing these events. Do you think clubs would have these events if they didn't draw a crowd? This is an adult game, why should sexual content be taken out? To protect the kiddies who used mom or dad's credit card and play. Is it really upto LL to be responcible if parents haven't a clue as to what their kids are doing with their credit cards?
Take out the sexual content, next you will decide there should be no weapons. Then you decide there should be no gambling...well sh*t then we can play on-line Teletubbies!

I think the problem she Psyra states is not of what those sims have on their land.. but what *you* have on while flying through. Remeber, mature sims are no problem - it's the PG sims where you've gotta watch your step.

Weather you are a Content Maker or Club Owner, both get Subsidies from Linden regarding Dwell is this not correct?
