Anyone who comes into SL and says I'm an idiot and I have a silly company and I'm going to take all the new sims for some rubbish system with ongoing land taxation like the taxation we just got rid of is an idiot.

I have paid $200 US for a lifetime account and I don't want to pay ANY rent for it cause I'm legally obliged that by SL/Linden Labs.

If someone buys up all the new sims (I think there'll only be three or so) and reinstates the old taxes, what is my lifetime account worth?

Listen to me once and listen well. If one person takes control of all of these new sims and charges taxes etc for the land, we will never have the freedom to do what we like, and that's the end of Second Life.

Linden Labs know that, that's why they built 1.2 To undo 1.2 would be terrible. To take away all you people who own acres and acres and hog it, and to replace you with one guy who owns most of everything would be abysmal.

I'd say wether I'm 'secure' or not is irrelevant...

Once again, not rich, just able to pay additional expenses. I drive a '99 Ford Escort ZX2 (Salvage Title) that had a car boarded back window, missing (stolen) stereo, and back lights don't work. So by no means am I rich.

Of course I (and a whole bunch of others I'm sure) appreciate everything you are offering to do and of course how you spend your money is of course none of my beeswax. I do not understand though why someone would pay for a sim or 3 and need repair work done on their car . Did I misread that ? In Any case Good Luck !

My thoughts too. If I had an extra $600/month to spend, it would be going to a new Lexus and the NBA TV package on DirectTV.

When the Lindens release 1.2 in a few days they will launch more sims. If at least 50% of these do not go to public use, I will lobby the Lindens either to cancel one person controlling multiple sims, or add on more sims, or give me my $200 US dollars back.

The Lindens said they'd implement 1.2. I don't like 1.1. I don't want to see 1.1 anymore. And if anyone tries to buy up all the sims and force us all to stay with 1.1 style land rents, I will lobby the Lindens to stop them in their tracks or add new sims, or I want my cash back.

Because I'm going to be guying a new car in Feb. Why waste money on this one?

And whom states that you will be forced to rent, live, or even go to their land? You say you are all into 1.2, but you are upset if someone utilizes the capabilities of 1.2?

I don't care what people do with 1.2 as long as nobody buys up all the new land and then charges me their own tax scheme for it. I'm on board with what the Lindens have planned for their system. I want to enjoy 1.2.

I don't want someone else to say "There was 1.2, but I bought all the land and now I'm going to ruin it for you by reinstating the land taxes you thought you saw the back of, and I own all the land, so if you don't like it, stick it".

FYI: If anyone buys an entire sim using real life money, those sims will be appended to the world specifically for that person. This land will NOT be land that the Lindens will put up for auction to the rest of the world and will also refuse that anybody can purchase a gigantic sum of land using only L$. In other words, you don't have to worry about paying someone elses special tax scheme in order to own land. Not unless you really really want to spend your time on that extra land brought into the world, which quite frankly, would have to be pretty damn special to lure you into any sort of tax scheme.

Nothing against Chance of course, I didn't even read this whole thread. Just saw one guy comment that he was afraid of people buying the world up and I want to assure you that LL will not let it happen.

Don't forget LL has mentioned many times people buying their own servers and running them remotely, If Zirux were to buy their own servers and rent out hte land then they wouldn't have to buy up the land.
