Sick of minors on SL

Well, thank you. I don't think I act the way I do because of any obligation imposed by age, but I have always tried to be mature, fair, and rational.

In any case, I try to uphold and remind others that age is no indicator of maturity. Hopefully I am succeeding in showing that to others by way of personal example.

Personaly I am sick more of immature adults then of minors in general. =P

I totally agree except for the fact there is a huge difference between 11-14 year olds who I've come across on sl, and people over 18. Though hard to believe with some of the posts in this thread.

On topic, what further steps could LL take to keep minors out of the game? Should they pour resources into draconian ToS enforcement rather than game development? As with the rest of the internet, anonymity is one of the foundations of social interaction in SL, and it can't be stripped from minors without taking it away from everyone.

If you're going to engage in adolescent activities (mutual masturbation with distant strangers, for instance), then expect to find adolescents joining you. The fact is, "Adult Content" is most often used as a euphemism for adolescent preoccupations.

As for the "points" in your first post, they're sweeping generalizations as has been said. I could get annoyed with lots of behaviours in SL if I were so inclined, but it's easier to laugh, offer correction if it seems useful, then turn to someone more sensible/fun.

What are the preventative measures on ... a minor in sl .... doing a ppl seach on sl then asking a adult to tp them to the adult zone .... are there different searches for this .... there need to be some thing done about this as well .... because some adults wont know .... there need to be a way of a verification system in place so this dose not happen ..... if been seeing this ... in other fourums boards ..... has any one addressed this issue at all yet .... . i can see thins being a problem .... can any one shed some light on this ....

I've known people in the past to be minors, and GOD it showed, forever stirring up drama, making snide remarks, generally being complete fuckwads... BUT, I also found out somebody else I knew was a minor, and they are one of the most intelligent, lovely, can spell correctly and apply punctuation kinda people you would ever meet on SL, and also one of the most talented.

Although I agree I would not want to find out I was boinging a 14 yr old, I don't agree that ALL minors are a pain in the ass, there really is NO way LL can check how old the players are, all they ask you to do apparently is prove your 18, send in the details of the person who's credit card it is and your back on the grid, easy as that.

I know a minor in SL who is 14. He is so polite, well behaved and generally far in advance of his supposedly more mature peers in SL, I have no intention of turning him in.

I knew a minor in SL who is now 13, joined in closed beta at the tender age of TWELVE, and became a very prominent figure who shaped the world's history. Everyone always loved the minor and nobody ever suspected one thing. Sadly this person isn't around anymore... got tired of SL for some reason.

yeah i did not report all the minors just the ones who were most annoying. lol. yeah it's the thing about the 14 year old that really got to me having recently found this out, so i told them if i see them trying to hook up with any other adults i will report them as well. i hate to be a party pooper but you do need to draw the line somewhere especially when you could do time for something you are clueless about.

as long as he is not trying to 'boing' (as a few people put it in this thread) adults, giving them his #, maybe trying to bring it to real life, and he does not act like a total ass then no need to report him.
