Hey all - thanks for all the encouragement. We are going to let these few run a couple days as final beta test. After that, I will be making them available to everyone. They will be free.
In the mean time, send those newbies to those trees. We need them to pick the trees for testing purposes.

I'm thinking... What about a money tree treasure hunt... just clues to the sims they're in, and let the newbies find them... they get to explore too...

Looking out for a money tree to plant in Taber. Please let us know when we can get one Great idea and so generous of you to donate your time and stipend to this project We will actively support this idea/project BTW: Love the idea of a Money Tree Treasure Hunt, as suggested, maybe just give a LM with Sim (128,12 and let the new guys explore and find them? 1. They have to do some 'work' to find them so it does not feel so much like charity 2. It adds to the fun side of this and is a little payback to the owners of the tree in terms of having the location explored and not just swiftly flown over Garth & Pituca 'FairChang'

Thanks again everyone. We are coming right along. Lot of generous donations going into the trees. Lots of newbies picking up some pocket money. And I'm getting lots of requests for trees. Give me a couple days to finish this beta test and I will post here on where to get your own. They will be free.
Bacc - Thanks, good to see you too.

OK, testing looks good. Here are the adjustments I am going to make:
Clean up the textures a bit. Owner name will show up after "Sponsored By:" Lower the chance for fruit to rez each cycle by 2% - the trees have been paying a little more than I wanted them too Add a status whisper for height and radius while it is being adjusted Add a warning upon rez that tells the owner how much they will be giving away
Testers, any issues, suggestions before I release this?

Hmmm, I dunno... maybe a limit to how much a single avatar can pick in a given time? It seems a very few avs get all the money from them.

Yeah, that's a good one. It would also even out the system a bit when a large amount is on the tree at one time.
Let's see... how about an av that is on the "Last 3 Recipients" list can only have a maximum of L$50. That way 3 new newbies will have to pick (which will push their name off the list) before this newbie can start picking again.
That way I don't have to keep track of how much everybody has picked in the last however long.

OK, I only mention because a couple of people got hundreds from mine yesterday, then the following few got only $10 or so...
Maybe the other would be to prevent rapid picking... only one pick every 10 seconds, or every 30 seconds... though that does seem like a bit more work...

Thats how its been with mine too...a couple get a lot of money then just scraps for anyone else. I don't know if its possible but maybe make it that any one avatar can only get a set amount per tree per day.

Great stuff. I'm relatively new (less then 60 days), but very probably I will still place a moeny tree in my area when your money tree is released.
I do have a question though. Can owners of the tree change the script so that the money tree pays more often or less often? Some SL people have smaller or bigger income amounts and some may want to make their tree pay more and some may want to make their tree pay less... Unless this is totally out of the way you want your trees to work and upset your vision and aim.
Just a thought

OK, I'm going to add a limiter feature so that 1 av doesn't consume all the resources at once.
Hokuto - Yes, in a later release. Right now you are committed to giving away your base stipend L$500/week.
Edit:
So here is how I just did the limiter feature. A newbie can only pick L$50 at one time. Then they have to wait for their name to roll off the "Last 3 Recipients" list. So, you are going to be guaranteed that different newbies get a chance at your tree. This makes sure than no single newbie monopolizes the trees.
Edit Edit: OK, I have all those fixes/features in. I'm going to let in run at Selby until tonight to checkout the changes, then I'll give you testers new versions.

I sent out updates to all the testers. Here is the summary of changes:
V2.4 (current release) ----- 'balance <amt>' command added Newbie can only take L$50 while they are on the "Last 3 Recipients" list. Once they roll off the list, that is reset Textures cleaned up Lowered odds for fruit to spawn by a few % to prolong donation payouts Reversed "Last 3 Recipients" order, most recent is now on top "Top 3 Donors" now aggregates donations Owner name will show up after "Sponsored By:" Added a status whisper for height and radius while it is being adjusted Added a warning upon rez that tells the owner how much they will be giving away Fixed internal bug concerning remaining donation balance black list commands documented Owner may now manually spawn fruit and bills with 'spawn' command Doc updated
V2.5 (my working version) ----- Newbie must be within 20m of the bill or fruit they are trying to touch I found a lot of newbies touching from great distances.
Edit: I'm go to lower the limit function from L$50 to L$25.
Let's run this version for a day or two. Any other suggestions?

a great idea

What a wonderful idea. Being fond of trees and having planted thousands of them it seems I ought to get one of these too, in Tehama.
I just completed my own 'newbie' help idea with 6 free houses on my lands with L$1000 starter grants in Red Dragon Village, so right now I shall donate to one or two trees modestly to start, I think. I have a huge SL committment coming up, and I am not sure I can dispense with my weekly stipend just yet for a while in the cause, but I can donate. Also with the new houses I have a prim scarcity again and not sure I can spare 50 prims just yet.. tho i hope soon..
Wonderful idea !

As a newbie I really appretiated this. When you're new every L$ counts of course. I've been passing the landmarks out to anyone who looks like they just got here.
Thanks to everyone who is participating.
