From: Maxx Monde The cube is being worked on, I settled for 19" square oak panels (mitered inside 45s angles), with one side I'll have to manually glue so I can cross the border into Canada when the time comes. They just like to use more than an X-Ray to look at things, I guess, so I can't completely enclose it before hitting The Great White North. (Thanks for letting me know about that, Cubey.)
So to answer questions, it seems more likely that I'll split up the tour into two parts, so it gives me enough time to hit all the destinations stateside, and not beat my car to death in one go. I'll be asking for more route clarification as it goes, but basically I'll hit all the stops that fall within say, no farther west than Texas, then do the rest of them on a second planned trip.
Thanks for the interest, I think it will be fun to do.
As for pics and things, I realize people are not always agreeable towards that, and I'll respect it of course. I just want to take pics of the cube in different areas at a minimum. As far as sightseeing - well, other than some points of interest that involve alcohol and bar stools, I don't know if I'll have a lot of time to just look around. We'll see.
I'll keep updating this as it develops. This will be a great exhibit. Reminds me of the Monolith in 2001. Or that strange black sculpture on Led Zeppelin's Presence album. It just shows up everywhere. The wood block sitting in front of the empire state building The wood block in front of the white house The wood block in Trenton NJ. -aimee

Maxx, Great idea! I am in the Milwaukee area and would drive down to the windy city to meet up and sign the cube. Would just need to know where you'd like to meet/when, etc. Also, while I am sure this isn't a new idea, after the tour is complete, an in world exhibit of the photos would be great. Possibly some hi-res snaps of each face could be taken after the signing is complete, and replica tour cubes could be made in SL. Again, awesome idea Maxx. I wish you the best of luck with this project.

What happens when Maxx gets to the SL office and finds an asset server error has made the cube 'no transfer' ? Any thoughts about visiting the UK?

Yes, I feel it a priviledge to get absolutely drunk in another country. But seriously, I was planning touring that as well (I'd need help of course, being a clueless yank). Depends on the timing and things, but it would be nice to do within the same year, if I can.

Whoo Philly! Just say when, and I'll pitch for a cheesesteak. You know, one of those *real* cheesesteaks - not like those cold greasy things with cheese whiz like they make in New Jersey *grins*

There's two of us up here in Albany, NY. Depending on your itinerary, we could drive out to Hartford. Albany is quite the depressing capital city, afterall.

More southern california ppl
12-21-2004 12:01
There are about 5 of us (that I am aware of) in the high desert area of southern california. So if you decide to head to the san diego area, consider stopping by the high desert, meet some residents, see the country's largest marine base (in 29-Palms), and visit the Joshua Tree National Monument that inspired that U2 album. You can also stare in amazment and wonder "how the hell did they get DSL in a desolate place like this?" ^_^

I am smack in the middle of Hollywood -- so if you're coming by Los Angeles County I can meet ya -- or maybe all the SoCal'ers should just figure out where to go all at once? That would be kinda (really) cool!

What a great Idea Max. I Hope that you can fit Toronto in to your itinerary. If not let me now when you will be in NY and me and my GF (Lillitha Tabala) will try to come down and see you. Would love to sing the cube.

So glad to see Atlanta's on the list! It'll be great to meet some fellow sl'ers. I can think of a few others sl-mates in the Atlanta area that haven't been mentioned and I'm sure they'll be equally excited to sign the prim.

Very cool idea! I'm in south Florida also. I would be willing to travel to central Florida. You should market this in SL also. Maybe a notecard dispenser in a few locations.

Yes, I'm still serious I need to follow up with the person helping make the prim. The trip may be segmented over time, but we'll see. I may wuss out and try flying for part of it, if that isn't too odious, then it will set the tone for how I complete the rest of it.

From: Lecktor Hannibal You are so going to kill me Cessee ! I totally forgot you were in Atlanta and I was in Buckhead all last weekend. Kill you? nah... I'll let whatever you caught from that hoochie down on Stewart Ave. do that. And *if* you survive, then you'll know to shout out next time. Okay Atlanta SL'ers... where to meet? Downtown? 'Burbia? Stn Mtn? 6 Flags? The Zoo (seems appropriate, don't worry they never shoot towards the animals, so we'd be safe, sorta)?

From: Cessee Hedges Okay Atlanta SL'ers... where to meet? Downtown? 'Burbia? Stn Mtn? 6 Flags? The Zoo ... ? I vote for The Varsity or Stone Mountain, 'cause it's gotta be somewhere that says "Atlanta!" in photos.
