From: someone Originally posted by Devlin Gallant Yes, we DO take things seriously here. In large part because this ISN'T a game. If gay-bashing, or making fun of people is your idea of fun and making people laugh, then you DEFINATELY do NOT belong here. We are intolerant of those who are intolerant. Uhm, yeah. THE INTERNET IS SERIOUS BUSINESS

If anything is debased here, it's your lack of tolerance, and your quick judgements and dismissals of a thriving online environment that you know next to nothing about...
I suspect most of you are simply trolls, and prolly really could give a crap about the people of SL and their morality. You are probably only here because the free accounts opened an avenue for you to spout your adolescent judgements/greif. On that token I will not respond to the baseless claims of some of the Goons members any further. I like to use my air to breathe. Not wrangle with self styled internet lifestyle police.

Whether you are from SA or you wear an animal avatar, it doesn't matter. A lot of the people who play this game are taking things way too seriously.
SA members are not a hive-mind of mean and evil people out to get you, they're just a bunch of individual people trying to make each other laugh.
I think we all have more in common than you realize. Bubba, you were one of the first Goons to hit us. You and Negro and Horus and Keshik. And now you're saying this?

From: someone Originally posted by Nolan Nash Quote from Comanchi: "Don't worry we won't destroy your little internet fantasy land. Which is already pretty debased from what I've seen and heard. "
Drakkus, THAT quote is what i was referring to. A very broad judgement about an entire online community.
Quote from Drakkus: "Noone is being attacked soley because they are SL players, the only ones being specifically targetted for grief by the goons are the furries."
And that makes it ok HOW? I'll host some pics of the weird crap that goes on here if you wanna see it. I mean, this is the internet: The Holy Land of Perversion. It would be naive to think SL is pure and untainted.

Unless you can provide a sim, and X,Y,Z co-ords to back it up, I'm not buying that. As for strip clubs, *shrug*. Not my thing, but, hey, whatever floats anyone elses boat.

From: someone Originally posted by Drakkus McCoy Being a furry isn't a lifestyle choice. It's a strange taste in porn/fetish for most, and a source of friends for lonely individuals for others. The exception to the rule is the 'lifestylers' who are another case entirely. You ever met one of those? Wowza Drakkus, you're right that lifestylers are rare. So are fursuiters, and so are zoophiles. SA and Lowtax have given the -impression- that the majority of furries are into this crap. I can only underline that there is an EXTREMELY LARGE contingency of "furries" here on SL who *ARE* repulsed and sickened by zoophile/plushophile/bestial behavior. The PROBLEM here is that you guys won't hear that. You basically say: "You're wearing a furry av. You have sex with animals. So f*ck you. <grief/shoot/push/scripttrap,etc>" "Wait a minute, what are you talking about, that's sick, no I don't." "You're wrong, yes you do. You want to have sex with animals because you're wearing a furry av. <continue grief>" We've been in the thick of this and we know what it's about. This is nowhere NEAR a fetish to the vast majority of us - the fact that you _refuse to believe that_ and continue to think it's 'righteous' to grief people on a stupid visual connection - and the fact that you guys are DEFENDING that, is what's going to lead towards a stigma of the SA group. You have to understand: A group of anthro avatars existed on SL for a long time before you guys showed up, and they never bothered anyone, never did anything deviant, and their worst offense was holding drunken shoutcast parties. Then you folks show up, and say "Hey everyone, We're going to grief these folks over here because we read this stuff about them on the Internet (a source which you guys both demean and hold holy) without actually figuring out who they are, because, you know, they're ALL that way" - and expect SL to be okay with it? Just like you guys are claiming about certain troublemakers. The 'furries' on the internet that you guys are talking about, or have pictures from, are big, loud, and not that plentiful. Especially not on SL. On the avatars we build, we have a PG only rule, in making them. That wouldn't be a whole lot of fun for fetishists, and it isn't. So far we've had to turn down -one- customer who wanted a mature furry av, and turn him down we did, immediately. We simply don't do and are not interested in stuff like that. Most of us _make fun of_ and find _atrocious_ the same drawings/pictures you guys make fun of. Think of it as similar to certain groups calling ALL gun enthusiasts "murderers". Not everyone who collects guns ... goes out and kills people. Actually very few do. And at least on SL, the same goes for those in nonhuman avs.

why does everyone have to make continue this eternal debate? we've established furries are stupid, you don't think they are, don't try and change our ideas, and we won't try and change yours (unless you're a furry)

Because you're still insisting that you're going to keep on griefing these people, and somehow don't want to get banned for it.

From: someone Originally posted by Drakkus McCoy I didn't say it did. I'm just saying that people aren't specifically being targetted for grief because they are SL players, the ones being targetted are being so because they are furries.
I already went over the reason why SA members go after furries in the first place a page ago.
I'm not here to debate the ethics of somethingawful goons griefing furries for kicks, I'm just trying to explain why it's being done in the first place.
The difference is that we are human beings, and thus being sexually attracted to humans isn't considered beastiality. I TOO am sexually attracted to human beings. DEAD human beings. I like it when they gat all stiff...drool. When they start getting squishy and turning funny colors is a bit of a turn-off tho.

The edenesque qualities of SL come from the CREATIVE freedoms we have here. Now if we could just be free of the lame jerkoffs that seem to inhabit SA it WOULD be an Eden.

Well, I had never heard of SA or "furries" before today, although "furries" sounds a lot like "Furbies" and I actually own one of those cute Mattel toys from a few years ago. It hasn't spoken recently. Maybe new bateries are in order. I actually visited the SA website (not about to give out the URL here, for reasons that might become evident) hoping to find out exactly what their "mission" on the Internet was. What I found was so-so examples of Photoshop, supposedly contributed by users, but with the SA URL superimposed on them. There was also some really awful software reviews, and some pretty bad attempts at creative fiction (maybe I should have put that in quotes). After several attempts to divine the gestalt of the SA website I still hadn't figured out if this was just a poorly conceived web site, or someone trying to make fun of people who put together poorly conceived websites. (If it is the latter, then it is a first class effort). Giving up on understanding the site from the site itself, I did the usual (for me) of tracking down the domain name, and looking for info on the person or organization behind it. Google pointed me at several not-so flattering links, but here is an actual interview by someone who claims to be a fan of the site. I think it told me everything I need to know. http://hypothermia.gamershardware.com/interviews/interview_lowtax.htmlAs far as signing up for the forum ($10), or ordering the t-shirts($14), mousepads($7) or other merchandise (all under $20 and all promised for delivery in a month or so) I think I'll hold off on that until after I've personally answered all the Viagra ads that have showed up in my Yahoo inbox. Reading through the posts here and what has been happening in-world (even assuming only parts of it are true) then this whole thing is about $$$ in the form of click-throughs and merchandising. Hope this helps anyone considering taking any of these antics seriously.

Heh. 10 years ago, I'd never have dreamed that I'd be sat reading arguments between people from all around the world in (almost) real-time.
Let alone the fact that those arguments would be about whether wearing an animal costume in a virtual second life constitutes bestiality.
It's a strange, strange world...
So does this make all the people in RL who are paid dress up as chickens to promote Easter or whatever are chicken-shagging prostitutes?

Oh my god.. think of all the children's books and cartoons out there with anthropomorphic characters! I can't believe we've been duped all along by these perverted publishers peddling furry smut to our kids!
</sarcasm>
That's about how silly and baseless these SA anti-furry people seem to me in this matter...
Are they going to start griefing Disney's Toontown next?

I snipped the rest of your post because it doesn't apply to me, but I disagree with this. Lifestylers are quite rare, but suiters and zoos are nowhere near as rare as most active furries claim. I'd rather argue with you in PMs about this, since this thread is already hijacked, but you aren't accepting PMs. PM me if you want to continue this discussion, because I don't want to hijack this thread anymore than it already has been.

From: someone Originally posted by Devyn Grimm Are they going to start griefing Disney's Toontown next? Actually, we had a goon presence in toontown for a while, until it went pay, then noone wanted to bother. Was a pretty fun game for a while, but pretty much impossible to grief in. (Except for the one exception of everyone packing in an elevator with some poor sod, then stepping out right before the doors close, dooming him to a lonely death.)
