I have to say that having played last night with my girlfriend after begging her to buy the game, it is a totally different experience playing with someone. It is much more enjoyable to fight groups, especially if you have complimentary powers. Ordinarily I hate grouping in games, but it serves itself well in COH. I can't recommend COH highly enough, it has really captured my attention.

Wooo! CoH rocks. I only got to play for half-an-hour or so last night -- IRC got int the way -- but so far it's tres cool. I'm on Guardian, but if someone wants to start a Linden Legion or something, I can crerate Parity, or an approximation, somewhere else.

Lady Tesla, science/blaster, on (I couldn't resist) the Liberty server. I'll check out some of the other servers named here later on.
I was up until 3am playing last night. Good grief. I don't have enough spare time to support a *second* online addiction...

planning
04-29-2004 19:40
i'm planning on picking up the retail version tomorrow.. should be able to get on tomorrow afternoon.. maybe. if/when i do, i'll join via the Infinity server.. then we shall rally the SLers as one massive force for justice, peace, and general good tidings.. of course, we'll bash the baddies to do it. long live.. The Super Second Lifers.. um.. The Sler Force.. er.. i know.. maybe we should just transplant our super groups to CoH? The Super League (and when the Villains become available).. The Congress Of Doom ..or something else can be figured out.. just getting the brain-juices flowing.

I'll probably be playing Liberty most of the time as Ironchef. I have a lvl 5 on Virtue also as Chef.

Taeja Diaz and I are on Liberty as well (Enchator and the Red Death) - I also have a character on Virtue. Does anyone know any upcoming features for COH? As much as I like it, the world itself is not all that interactive -so I am curious what kind of planned stuff is going to be added.

well..
04-30-2004 09:57
Cristiano,
i know they're already working on the playable Villains thing, not sure if that will be a seperate purchase or an upgrade of sorts though. i hope they don't try to charge full retail for it to those who are already in the game.
also.. i bought the retail CoH today! yay! as soon as i'm done sloughing through the forums here, i'll be installing CoH and getting started on making a character. i'm going to see about joining via the Infinity server.
still thinking about group names for SLers..
- Second Life Avengers of Paragon (SLAP) - The Justice League of Paragon (The JLP) - The Super League (The SL) - The League of Avenging Super Heroes (The LASHers)
i don't know.. any other input on this?

up and running
04-30-2004 16:33
k, i got going with CoH, here's my current stats..
Infinity: NetherShift (3 or 4.. not sure) Mutant/Scrapper
- he's purple (surprise! surprise!) with a third eye. - pointy ears. - hair is that pony-tail type thing where there's no other hair.. forget what the style is called. - wears: black tank top, dark blue pants, black boots and black finger-less gloves.
not sure when i'll be back on, but i'll keep an eye out for everyone.
ps - i'll get a screen-shot of him and post it when i get the chance.

I am in Virtue, Liberty and Infinity as Captain Blaze a Mutant/Blaster in each., specializing in fire. But each costume is a bit different.
The Villains part will be an expansion and it will be shown at E3. From what I've read it was being worked on before COH even was released.

imagine what a whole team could accomplish!
just wait until players can be villains! THEN we'll really have a challenge.. unless we become villains too.. heheh.
thanks Darque.. it was fun!
ps - here's a shot of NetherShift for everyone to peruse:

This game looks interesting - I'm tempted to try but not sure I'll be able to afford to for a bit.
A question for those of you playing: Is the avatar customization pretty elaborate? Can you get a lot of different unique looks with it? It seems in a superhero game this would be important. I'm sure its not as flexible as SL but i'm curious how far it goes.

re: customizing characters
05-01-2004 11:05
Devyn, like Darque said, YES! but for more proof, look through this thread and check out all the pics.. also, i've seen a ton of different looks without seeing two heroes who look the same. have you played Morrowind? more customizable than that. edit: ok, just looked through this thread.. not too many pics of characters here.. so, two ideas: 1) i'll take a pic of a bunch of characters in the game and post it here 2) everyone who's on CoH, post your hero pics here!!!

Very flexible, moreso than any game I've seen except SL. (You don't really expect them to have a slider for your nostril width, do you?) I've only done female character creation so far but you get:
- Three basic body types: Male, Female, and Hulk (for AO players: an Atrox) - Sliders for height and muscularity - A palette of about 50 skin tones, including "unnatural" colors - About ten "head styles" (Normal, Mask w/hair, full-head mask, several helmet/hat/hood types) - About ten faces - About thirty hairstyles - About forty masks (including none) - Several styles of glasses/goggles - Several styles of lower-face mask (gasmask, armored jaw, veil...) ... and similar numbers of choices for elements on the upper and lower body.
In-world, I've seen players as felinoids, robots, suit-and-fedora toughs, devils, imps, and a female witch doctor. It's, as I said, the second most flexible avatar creation system I've found, after SL.

Thanks for the info... that sounds awesome! Man, I really want to play now.
And yes I saw the pics people posted.. just was curious of the full range. I'd love to see some more heroes if you get the chance.
