In case people are missing this point - the Gideon Bibles are free for hotel guests to take.
That is absolutely correct. :)

I was referring to the original post (and just one of many original threads along the same lines) that went like this, Chip:

"
Destroy a Bible
Next time you're in a hotel, take or destroy the bible."

But then, you knew that.

NO ONE is being intolerant towards atheist views.

People are being intolerant of others running rampant with their expressing their own intolerance, over and over. It isn't necessary, and it is offensive.

Just as it would be if I or anyone else ran rampant expressing intolerance toward atheist on the boards.

It is hate speech, pure and simple. Nothing more, nothing less. Certainly nothing better.

How about some of the other "irrational" social taboos that go against the TOS? Would you like to see THOSE expressed here, Chip? Or just the anti-Christian ones?

coco

Tell me, Coco, how can tolerance ever be achieved if all discussion of differences of opinion about religion is automatically classified as intolerant hate speech?

The revolution has begun, know that you right wing nuts. I would love to see the US governed by someone like Hugo Chavez or Fidel Castro.

This views are not only anti-American, just plain wrong.

You and the rest of the Micheal Moore socialist crowd should just move to Cuba and be with your own kind.

What would have been the result if Kerry a known commie helper and liar would have gotten in. Im glad there are still real Americans left in the US to defend our way of life.

The democrat/socialists are already boasting about the coming of the new socialist order right on the congress floor.

When it does come, and we do see it coming, just remember who has all the guns :-)

Just what is it that makes you believe that everyone who disagrees with this administration is anti-American and that they don't have guns?

All discussion of differences of opinion about religion is not automatically classified as intolerant hate speech.

"Destroy a Bible. Next time you are in a hotel, take or destroy a biblle." - is not a discussion of differences of opinion about religion, nor does it invite any. It is intolerant hate speech.

I wonder when exactly people started getting the idea that they have the right to never be offended.

As for wanting the US to be governed by someone like Castro.. No thanks. I think I'll pass on the totalitarian regime.

We got the idea when we read the TOS. The TOS says we have the right on these forums not to be faced with intolerant hate speech.

That applies to all races, religions, etc. Not to all races, religions, etc., except for Cristianity.

take OR destroy a bible. The very phrase invites discussion on difference of opinion.

You do know what "or" means yes?

I think Valentine's day is a bullshit holiday, crassly invented by the candy and greeting card inustries to guilt people into giving them money. If I tell you that instead of observing the holiday you should burn valentine's day cards, is that hate speech? Am I being intolerant towards people who celebrate Valentine's Day? If your answer is no then you are applying a double standard.

I stand firm with what Coco said, and everything she said. There's more people in these forums bashing Christianity than there are supporting the Christians getting bashed, and I stand with Coco on this. You want to attack her and ridicule her with your replies, you have to make them out to Jsecure Hanks as well.

I'm not ridiculing Coco. I'm disagreeing with her (and you). Do you not understand the difference?

Speaking as an Angel in the service of the word Love, I am offended by your intolerance of my favored holiday and the hateful burning of the symbols of my faith. On behalf of Cupids everywhere, I blow a huge raspberry in Chip's direction:

THPPPPPPPPPPPPHT! :p

... but just as long as someone ELSE writes it, because if GW himself writes it it will be written as "Bestest presitent evar!"... and pronounced even worst...

Yes, you would be being intolerant towards people who celebrate Valentine's Day.

Just as if people got on these forums to advise, unprovokedly, "Next time you see a Christmas tree, just take it or burn it," would be intolerant.

But valentines wouldn't be as big a deal, since not that many Christians are that wired into into St. Valentine's Day.

"The next time you see a menorah, just take it or burn it," would be another example of intolerant hate speech toward another religion, and would be a big deal, at least to me.

It's all symbols, yes. But if those symbols DIDN'T have such meaning - why would anyone bother making a post specifically to suggest burning them - in the first place?

You can't use words specifically as a battering ram to start things, then turn around and try to claim that the words are harmless.

True enough. There is also a group of people that find those symbols representative of an intolerance for their way of life.

Shhhhhhhh. Menorahs are supposed to burn. That's rather the point of them.
