I like snakes myself. Catholics? Which kind? Roman? Russian Orthodox? ....... .......  America isn't a Christian nation, it's a country with a majority of Christians. Since the government represents the People, and it's a government run by the people, for the people, it would follow that the government reflects the make-up of the people. If the majority were practicing Muslims I would expect the government would reflect it. After all, the People elect the government. |

Since the government represents the People, and it's a government run by the people, for the people, it would follow that the government reflects the make-up of the people. I haven't read the whole thread... (39 pages... like I have that attention span, pfft) but as an atheist.... I have no need to attack Christianity, or Buddhism, or Vodun, or any other system of belief.
My beliefs, or lack thereof, are a personal matter to me... Something I feel is right and correct way down in my soul, not based on any matter of fact or lack of proof or bitterness or rebellion. It's just what I've found feels right for me. Something I very suddenly discovered at the age of 11 while in Sunday School, and my sister had to wrestle me to the ground to shut me up when I started saying out loud that the preacher was a liar. I would HOPE this is where everyone gets their beliefs from, because anything else is quite simply bullshit. If you don't FEEL it, you don't truly believe it. You're paying lipservice to a God, or to Atheism for whatever reason. If you truly believe in what you believe, there's no reason to attack others who also truly believe what they believe. It's the people who pay lip service that should be kicked to death in the street, because they're the ones that fuck everything up for the rest of us. Ta _____________________

It's my humble opinion these attacks are used as a way make one feel important or shore up ones own belief system. I feel the same about any belief system that seeks to build up its own credibility by attacking other's beliefs. . So kinda like the crusades and the spanish inquisition not to mention countless other attacks. So far as I am concerned Athiests have never Physicaly attacked anyone of differing beliefs, and most are just anti organised religion, A belief is something you are willing to die for, dogma is something you are willing to kill for, and there is all the difference in the world. If you are talking about angry confused kids attacking christianity as athiests, well they are angry confused kids, most adults who are non believers tend to go for the live and let live policy... If christianity makes you feel better and good about life, go for it, I'm not going to stop you are argue with you about it, its your right to believe what you want to believe... but do respect my right to ignore the call as I can not make the leap of faith required to believe in stuff that to my mind is not logical. I'm a creature of logic not faith. I do envy the ability to just go with faith... I truely do. |
